Only accuracy gets the reduction to .9Originally Posted by ringthree
A while ago SE ranted about how they thought that players reaching levels above the 50-60 range would break the game. Because of this they reduced the amount of attributes gained per level, introduced a skill system that included +s and -s (ie: A+ skill vs A- skill vs A skill, as opposed to just having A vs B vs C), reduced the power of gaining skill, adjusted abilities/magic/etc gained through SJs, and increased the amount of exp needed per level drastically.
They admitted this presumption was wrong and that the game was fine, so a while after they lowered the amount of exp required to reach 75. But, they've never fixed any of the equations they nerfed and probably never will.
I believe the difference between jailer weapons and other weapons that say occasionally attacks x times, is that it can proc a double attack at any time. I have not seen it stack with a double attack from /war or brutal earring during weaponskill (ie no 3 swings), but I do know Justice sword can proc double attack on it's own during a weaponskill without /war or brutal. Though as stated above it is still limited to not stacking with normal double attack. I have noticed double attack to proc much more often during weaponskills when using justice mainhand when using pld/nin.Originally Posted by Max™
Ok, does this effect evasion? And was this change made before NA release?Originally Posted by RKenshin
It was made when they went past 50 I believe, because that is when the A+/- and Skill=.9 Acc change kicked in.
Well, you managed to get everything exactly wrong. Jailer weapon DA can stack with DA from gear or /war, this is plainly visible. Jailer weapon DA does also not proc on WS at all, it has been tested many times.Originally Posted by yrpaine
max and i just had like an entire page discussion about this lol, thank you for being a little more forceful dan
but yes, that first time you swing 4 times with one weapon in one attack round, it is a thing of beauty <3
As far as what I've seen, there was never any indication that Evasion would undergo the same penalty although it'd be extremely difficult to test.Originally Posted by ringthree
This was around the time when the level cap was moved past 60. I don't really remember when that was.
to get that gear pic thingy on ffxi you need to register for linkshell community but um,
the thing is i can't get it with an ls and need a linkshell? cus if i gotta go buy one im gonna just say fuck it lol
I never said it couldn't on normal attacks, i specifically said during weaponskills. I know it can during normal attacks, i've done it enough.Originally Posted by fantasticdan
I have a question regarding the use of Myochin Kote +1. I currently have Palla's Bracelets for WS and I know Alky's are better STR-wise, but would gaining 12 DEX (-5 that I would normally have with Palla's and the +7 from kote +1) be worth the loss of 2 STR? Same comparison with Alky's.
Thanks in advance.
LOL Before I started playing, thats for sure. I think the level cap was bumped to 60 in the first NA update but that is just from reading the update notes.Originally Posted by RKenshin
To be fair, you tried comparing Jailer Weapons to Ridill-type weapons. The problem is they are exactly the same type of melee proc - "Random". It's just that Jailer Weapons consume Stones (and I believe more frequent).Originally Posted by yrpaine

-There was no difference.
I've always heard Kote +1 with /WAR and Alky's with /THF.Originally Posted by Kaelen
Where the hell is that website (might be a Japanese site I don't remember right now) that listed out all the patch notes for FFXI from the beginning and possibly even beta? I think some of it was even horribly Babelfish-translated from Japanese.
OtherWiki goes all the way back to 10/21/2003. That's as far as I know, I've never seen a listing that went back before that - but I'd be interested if someone could find one.Originally Posted by Nynaeve

is your accuracy capped? if yes, 2 str is better. if no, then the accuracy will generally do more over time for you. similar comparison with alky's although with slightly larger numbers.Originally Posted by Kaelen
My Great Katana merits are capped, but I don't have a Bushinomimi or a Justice Torque just yet, so it just might be better for me to upgrade the kote first before the helm. I still have Saturday to make my choice.Originally Posted by Amele

The first update after NA release was in December 2003, which was the final level cap increase (70=>75).

There's a lot of interesting tidbits if you take the time to read them and see how the game has developed over the last five years.
I didn't ask if your skill was capped but if your accuracy (read: hit rate) was. I think it's clear it isn't. so myo+1's are better in your situation.Originally Posted by Kaelen
that said, str+5 in the head slot is going to presumably be inventory+1 (if you have the wyvern helm) or str+5 more if you don't. so either is probably ok.
