Rampage and RR are both chance to crit WSs and the chance to crit is modified by your base crit hit rate, more DEX means a better chance to crit the hits on the WS, that and both are also multi-hit, the -DEX on bracelets is minor in terms of an ACC reduction but a single missed hit on a WS hurts.
Steel Cyclone can't crit unless forced, unless the -DEX hurts you in terms of accuracy (it shouldn't) the STR is much more advantageous.
The chance to crit on a WS is modified by TP; the WS description doesn't say anything about it being modded by DEX.
Now your normal chance to crit during melee is affected by DEX and DEX during a WS does affect accuracy. I have yet to see any test (and would be very hard to do so) to show that DEX affects crits during a WS instead of just the TP.
I believe it's always just been assumed that DEX will affect crit rate of a WS that can crit, but no proof has been shown to support the theory, just that martial weapons which increase the TP help the crit rate.
Ended up doing /war with Sushi. I think it went ok.Originally Posted by Martinius

There were definitely a few tests here showing dex increased critical rate on "chance of critical varies with TP" ws, I'm too lazy to sift through all the individual posts but you can look through here for starters: viewtopic.php?f=2&t=17450&hilit=stacking+dexOriginally Posted by Xrave
And of coarse WS description doesn't say anything about dex, nothing in this game is described like that. No weaponskills say "Damage varies with STR", nukes don't say "Damage varies with INT", trick attack doesn't say anything about agi, etc.
If that's the link for the DEX build when they found the different tiers, which it looks like it is, I don't think there was anything in there to show that the DEX helped the WSs.
You can kind of test it out, I know just after the Dex=Acc 2h buff I did a silly Dex build for Raging Rush and it roxxored my soxxors, but I lost so much Acc because I don't have Haidate, that I went back to a more Str heavy build til I get Haidate/Nhands.
I have Alky's, which are wtfawesome for Steel Cyclone, though it just doesn't feel right to Raging Rush in them, though I've little choice otherwise, and taru Dex to help there.
Stupid Question: Is it wrong to lurk the advanced section to see if I'm one of the people being made fun of?...I can't be the only one who does this, right!?
I think you should lurk the "WTF player thread" and not worry about the advanced forums (Unless you post something absolutely unnecessary)
Also good to go there to skim for info, but yeah keeping your head down doesn't hurt if you are worried about having a glass jaw.

Er, yeah, that's pretty much what I meant. Luckily, I haven't been posted about yet!Originally Posted by Jaybar

your gear is fine. could use some enhancements, but who can't? not to mention you're a bard, so you're only slightly less useful than you would be completely naked with only instruments.Originally Posted by CeridwenOfKujata

damn you replied fast...edited my post because it didn't make sense. lol... but yeah<3 being a brd
If you can afford at some point upgade to terra and apollo's staves. After that you're really looking at upgrading af if you have Sea (hands/legs/body), yigit gomlek, storm fife if you do assault/Salvage and the musical earring bought with ancient beastcoins. Salvage gear is nice too but again, depends if you do it / have access.Originally Posted by CeridwenOfKujata

And I think Bard is the cheapest job(cheap as in inexpensive)...maybe that's why I took it so far.
Yeah, the crappy part is I hardly have any missions done/access to places since I was out of a linkshell for over 6 months(and who the hell does pick-up stuff anymore, amirite?). ~_~Originally Posted by Eldelphia
honestly, imo, the most valuable thing in that list to get would be the yigit body. the less time you spend standing and singing, the more time you can spend on other things. storm fife is good if you're doing assaults/salvage obviously, but since i'm guessing that's not your thing, that can be back-burnered. the af+1 is a huge, huge boost. body's great for pulling and debuff if you don't own an osode, the legs have a ton of wind skill for buffs, and the hands are just win on a stick. the earring is good stuff too. the real core question is what you plan on doing with your time in the short term. if it's going to be merit point parties, it's not nearly as hard to score a sleep as say, dynamis demons. if you want to get to xarcabard, tune up that apollo's and terra right away. if not, you can probably do fine just sitting on NQ sticks. not sure if what i wrote makes much sense or is of any help, but i hope it's some good.Originally Posted by Eldelphia
I recently hit 75RDM, and I went up to sky to do some soloing for fun. I figured I'd try zip, as he didn't seem too hard. Needless to say, first try I kind of got raped, second try I killed him but had to zone a few times (sky was empty so it didn't get stolen). The reason this happened is due to several outright bind resists (two of which were back-to-back). Is this normal? It wasn't firesday or anything. I have max buyable enfeeb skill+capped merits (from BLM), nothing else on RDM job-specific is merited besides a few vert. Will the 5 ice acc merits really help noticeably?
I do fine with only 3 Ice Acc merits, but they do make a huge difference. Zip isn't exactly a pushover, especially if he pops at the high end of his level range. You'll want the acc merits and an Aquilo's at the minimum if you don't have it already, Balrahn's Ring and Goliard Clogs also go a long way if you have/can get them. I don't typically get many bind resists anymore with Aquilo's, 317 skill, and +11 MAcc, but 1-2 a fight is still typical, just save Gravity for when Bind resists, lay a Grav on him and run until Bind is back up.Originally Posted by Necrosis
