The "You have incorrectly guessed your password three times, please try again later" deal...how much later?

Also, is there a way to disable this or something? It is potentially troublesome if someone wants to just lock you out of your account nonstop (imagine if everyone that got hacked had their accts. beyond their own access because someone has their IDs)

It comes back rather quickly, so I noticed. Like 5 minutes. I locked myself out once and got back in when I had a bout of intelligence and remembered my p/w.

Hey, one time I had to abuse that thing to lock someone out of getting access to my account while I tried to change the password, so they wouldn't kick me off.

Seriously, I like that feature. =)

    Simplest way to do/explain.

    1. Copy entire Playonline folder to external HD

    2. Install Playonline and FFXI with all expansions on new pc.

    3. Drop the entire Playonline folder from external HD overtop of the new installation

As long as this is same OS, it has always worked for me with out any problems. It will also get you out of having to download updates, you will only have to run threw the checking files.
    ; ; ffiinnnneeee, thanks lol.
Wait, do I drag and drop the FFXI folder or the whole playonline foldeR?
Doesn't matter, just make sure you get the FFXI folder moved over

I am not @ home right now so i cant tell you which is the top.

Moving the folder that has POL, FFXI, and Tetra master all inside of it works fine. (it will even keep your POL profiles saved)

    ~edit~
    I should have asked..
Why are you loading this backup? If you had problems with FFXI before moving all this over, you will move problems with it on new pc. If you are just doing it to keep macros, config settings, skip re downloading content then this will work fine.

    Re: Randomer Question Thread

I've been camping Ose the past few days, and everywhere I look says that the PHers are the last two Torama on the list of 8, but when I saw Ose on widescan his name appeared below a Labyrinth Manticore, separate of the 8 other kitties. Is the lone Torama separated from the 8 by the manticore the real PHer, or does Ose just take his spot on the list when he pops?

Also, would 3DEX be better for a DEX modified WS than 5 attack? I'm trying to maximize on my DNC's Dancing Edge damage, and curious if I should wear my Bounding Boots or use my Dancer's Shoes. I'm level 64, so I don't have access to anything like Denali right now.

iirc it's the Torama that straggles around in the NW corner of the room only. Really, just kill them all. If you can't kill those three torama up there within their repop time, you'll die to Ose (and that would be funny). It's more fun when you expect everything!

And I think if you check the dat, aren't the monsters in the list there properly? idr, I always checked in memory for it. lol

With SA, yes. Without SA, no.

    HNMs.
I ended up capping shield skill on Zip. HNMs, Sky, Sea, Limbus, and Dynamis all seem to work well in capping shield, and you don't even have to waste even more hours of your life doing it.

It's all fixed. My HD crashed, and I had a backup from 2 months ago, so I brought my POL file over.

This is what I do to copy from one PC to another. It doesn't require you to reinstall on the new PC.

Foe would be your party's current target.

And you can't filter the "[Name] is paralyzed." stuff. You also can't filter: "[Name]'s casting is interrupted" or "[Name] gains xxxx experience points."

I freaking HATE Sacrarium and Aqueducts at the moment because of Swift Belts and subligars. I thought I was done but unfortunately I was stupid enough to decide that both SCH and RDM need to get up to acceptable levels and they both benefit enormously from their JSE.

RDMs are solo in Sacrarium, partied and hard to get to in Aqueducts. You can, make it up to the East library in aqueducts where they are in pairs (usually with a BLM) but it's not easy and you have to kill/sac some taurs and have a key.

Sacrarium, the RDMs are easy to get to but they don't drop that often, even with TH2. In fact we got the one I needed without it but we'd had 3 previous sessions between Sacrarium and Aqueducts trying with TH2...

If you can 2 hr an eyes, then BST is prolly your best bet but they're tough and it's not fun. Duo you'd do much better.

THF mobs in Sacrarium are north of the rdm mobs, up with the RNG. We tried for hours to get one there, the drop rate is definitely better in Aqueducts.

Would it be possible to solo Ranger by focusing on Worms/Gob Pets like you would BLM or BLU?
I'm guessing worms primarily since they're static and the only big problem would be -agas.

    Holy/Sleep/Bloody Bolt spam?

Sitting around LFP blows ass and Campaign is once in a blue moon now it seems. Would like to get some xp in at least.

    General answer: No.

Real answer: Depends on how powerful the modifier is, how much of it you can get in a single slot, how much STR you would otherwise be able to equip in said slot, how much STR you already have, and probably a few other things I'm missing. In most cases, the tradeoff isn't enough to make it worth it though, so refer to my first statement.

    This is wrong.

The PH for Ose can pop all around the room, also there's definitely more than 3 Torama in the room.
I don't remember where to look for it on Widescan (It's probably in the post below, but I didn't reread it so I don't know) but when I camped it awhile back there was a post on lolalla I found that helped a lot since I was solo without widescan.

Focusing your attention on the last 3 Torama, you will see one of these two situations:

Torama - on the east side of the room
Torama - on the WEST side
Torama - on the WEST side. This is one placeholder.

    or:

Torama - on the east side of the room
Torama - on the east side of the room. This is the other placeholder.
Torama - on the WEST side of the room.

***I've double checked to make sure I wrote that right.
If the last 2 are on the west side, the 2nd one is PH.
If the last 2 are split east and west, the east one is PH.***

For those w/o widescan, it's tougher, but you can narrow it down some.

Dividing the room into the 4 corners, SW, NW, NE, and SE, you can kind of tell where the placeholder is:

    There will always be:
2 Torama IN the SE tunnel
2 Torama BY the SE tunnel (in the room, but not in the tunnel)
2 Torama by the SW tunnel
1 Torama by the dead end in the NW corner.

(There can also be 1 or 2 torama at the NE corner: Don't bother with these, they're unrelated. I say "can be" because those Torama like to disappear for an hour/hours after they're killed - I've no idea why.)

That makes 7 Torama. The 8th one, the placeholder, will either be among the two near the SE tunnel, or mixed in with the ones on the west side of the room.
    In other words:
-If NW corner has 2 Torama, one is PH
-If west side of room has 4 torama, the PH is on that side.
-If SE part of the room has 3 Torama, the PH is there. (don't count the 2 in the tunnel.)

That's about as good as I can describe it. I don't know a good respawn time offhand, though others have posted their experiences. I've seen a 6 hr repop, so I usually just come back 4 or 5 hrs after ToD if I want to pop Ose a second time, or help someone with Mysticmaker.

Of course, if you can kill all the Torama in 16 minutes or so, then you don't need any of this. XD

Examples of some things that you should not do:

    1) Secondary modifier rings when you could use STR (i.e., MND rings for Guillotine, INT rings for Spinning Slash, VIT rings for Steel Cyclone).

    2) Abyss Gauntlets over Hecatomb Mittens for Spinning Slash due to the INT.

    3) Koenig gear for Steel Cyclone.

    And so on.

Try to get as much of the secondary modifier as you can in slots where STR isn't possible, or insanely overweighs your STR. For instance:

    1) If you don't have a Hecatomb Cap for Steel Cyclone, a Genbu's Kabuto is a good choice (but Hecatomb >>>>> Kabuto).

    2) Gear with a decent amount of STR and the secondary modifier can sometimes be better than gear with more STR (for example, Chaos Sollerets +1 > Hecatomb Leggings because 5 STR 5 MND > 6 STR).

    3) Flame Rings for Spinning Slash because STR +5 INT +2 (but you'd use these even if they didn't have +2 INT, due to the high STR).

STR first, secondary later. If something has both, use it (Ares body hi).

I've duo'd the RDM fomor in the Mithra spawn room with another BST. Well...it wasn't exactly duo. We'd go to where the IT hecteyes spawn past the taurus, and we'd spam charm until one of us got it. With all my CHR gear (rings, corsette +1, noble's, bird whistle, minstrel's dagger), it actually wasn't THAT bad. My partner decided to be lazy and gimp it up, and it was significantly worse for him. This was before the Reward change, so I think we only got through 3-4 RDMs per pet with both of us meleeing and whoever didn't have the eyes using a jug (btw, a jug is going to whiff the shit out of THF mobs). After Familiar ran out, we'd go back for another hecteyes and swap roles; the person whose 2hour was down would spam charm just to help keep it off the other person (and immediately use Leave if they got it). We both went /NIN...this would be significantly less shitty today thanks to Monomi and the Reward recast, not to mention the Stay change.

Also, it took us a couple of 2hours each for 1 RDM subligar. If you can bring a THF, do so.

Thanks to both of you, couldn't have asked for a better explanation. I was curious because jump has a VIT 50% modifier and was going to play around with pumping up the damage gained. (Only 42 DRG)

Pretty much any job can take out bst pets and worms for good exp, thou not quite as well as blm or blu. I've done it on drk, drg, war, thf, bst, I don't see why rng couldn't.

    Re: Randomer Question Thread

So, I'm slowly taking up WAR in a casual LS static; got it to 51 so far. I'm really enjoying great axe, because I already have BST to 75, so I've experienced the joy of 1h axe plenty (and the sadness of 1h axe pre-Rampage). I'm planning on dual-wielding axes from at least 54-60 (I have 2 axe merits, so Rampage at 54 this time around) and just going /DNC or /BST to solo re-cap my greataxe outside of the party.

At 60, unless my math is wrong, a WAR/SAM can get a 6-hit build with a 504 delay weapon using Rajas, Chiv. Chain, and Ecphoria (although there isn't really a 504 weapon to use until 62). With a 514 or higher weapon, you can do this with just Rajas (and possibly less, but...I have Rajas). However, I'm thinking that WAR/SAM before Seigan would probably just be killing myself, especially if I get to WS more often.

Should I just /NIN until 70? Can I start using great axe again at 60, or would it be better (damage-wise) to wait until I can safely /SAM? Yeah, I'm doing WAR for something different, but I don't mind using axe/axe for a while if it's way better.

Oh, the party setup is RDM BLM BRD THF WAR (pickup tank). That last bit is what really makes me concerned for my safety. I ripped hate off most pickup tanks as BST; I'm afraid of what WAR is going to do. We might be picking up another WAR at 59, and if we do that I imagine I'll definitely want to /NIN until 70.
