    Re: Randomer Question Thread

Gear haste cap is 25.2% so yeah you would need 26 to really cap that, but in terms of recasts Fast Cast isn't haste and doesn't count toward that 25.2 so if you had max haste in gear (not possible on rdm) you would get the Fast Cast reduction on top of that. For RDM to get close to 25% gear haste you have to chuck your Fast Cast from AF/AF2 which is a waste for recast anyway. (Max haste for RDM is walhara hat: 5%, goliard body: 4%, hq dusk gloves: 4%, speed belt: 6% and hq dusk boots: 3% for 22% haste). So basically, any dusk you can get your hands on (or feet on) will help. Would you get hq dusk just for rdm stunning? Probably not.

Well, you also get the MACC from it. But, slowII should be fully merritted if you are doing those. SlowIIx3 ParaIIx3 for full RDM enfeeb.
SlowIIx3 PhalanIIx3 for rank party RDM
SlowIIx2 ParaIIx1 BioIIIx3 if you want to invest it for solo purposes, some don't.
Could really make any number of combos, mostly preference.
    SlowII x3 for teh HNMs.
Dia III x2 for meritwhoring/Nyzul Isle/short-duration defense down for HNM
ParaII x1 taken down from 3 (for dia) and left at 1 for now.

I'm not a RDM, so let me know if this is wrong.
RDM gets a native fast cast bonus, which provides -10% recast.
Then they can get -11% from gear (Warlock's Chapeau/Duelist's Tabard/Loq. earring.)
13% haste from gear (Dusk gloves/ledlesen+1, speed belt.)
    Then 15% from haste spell.

So added up, -49% recast without brd? I think that's right. >_> While most RDMs wouldn't get dusk+1 for stun, some do for soloing I guess. Fast Cast on gear doesn't count for the haste cap, and provides both a recast bonus and actual casting bonus.

And I guess to answer the actual question, if you had a brd, I believe victory march would cap your recast, no extra gear needed.

i remember reading somewhere that your bst's actual level had an impact on charm, even when subbed. eg, a blu61/bst30's charm would be better on someone who also has bst at 75 than someone who only has it to 37. a.) is there any truth to this information, and b.) assuming yes to a, how does it affect charm?

It is true. I don't know the full effects but it's at least the success rate (keeping in mind you won't get any charm+ gear /bst) and I think duration as well.

Was thinking more along the lines of "Oh Shit" scenarios like when someone misses a stun on something vital like GoH or some such.

Thinking of getting Dusk for my THF eventually so I suppose AF/AF2/Loq. and Dusk Hands/Feet would do along with a Haste.

Ta for the calculations and such.

Yeah, that's right actually. Except you're probably going to end up @ -45% with nq dusks + swift belt. -40% with no dusk and still cap recast with 1 march.

I think it was proven by someone with /37BST (only at 37) used a BST ability that told them if they could charm it, and another person /37BST (but had it at 75) did the same and got different results (on the same mob). Better results

Yes it's true. There have been tests done (on Alla even).

It affects Charm accuracy. Effectively, you charm at the level of your main job level or true BST job level, whichever is lower.

My perception is that accuracy is *slightly* less with /BST than BST at the same level, but it's pretty close.

You do have the downside of not having +Charm gear available outside of BST main. Charm duration is based entirely on level. If you succeed, you have the mob for x amount of time. +Charm gear extends that by 10% per point, plus a BST has Familiar, which keeps a mob for 30 minutes regardless of level.
Which is to say that /BST is far less able to use Tough or higher pets no matter what the level.

From (somewhat limited) experience, I'd say charming EMs is a little spottier than with BST main, DC and below are very similar. With BST leveled up at/past main job anyway.

    Re: Randomer Question Thread

thanks for the input. my blu is currently at 61 and i want to try to get it to 75 b/c I HATE ZHAOLYM FROGS (<3 chainstun spells. ^^) so i've been looking into how to do it. since soloing on bst worked well for my schedule (plus the fact that both bst and blu in my experience get about the same love for parties...) i was curious if this would be a viable option for me. now i just need to get some time to search up some descriptions of how well it works and where good camps are. not asking for people to do my legwork for me as i can search same as anyone, but if anyone remembers a good guide or info on it off the top of their head, it would be much appreciated. hooray for dinging into morrigan robe in 14 lvls! ^^

    30mins I do believe.
It's up to an hour, if it's a range and not exactly that.

Easily tested by spending a full hour (stopwatch and all) running around an otherwise empty Monastic Cavern once the previous person took a Treasure Coffer right in front of me for an AF piece.

From personal experience, the difference between BST and a job using /BST charming on EP-EM is very noticeable, much more than "slightly." My BST is LV75 and on some jobs I can stand there for a good 5 minutes unable to charm a DC, even when using Apollo's and whatever limited CHR equipment I have usable by the job.

Though, the difference is much more noticeable with a melee job than a mage job, so the observation is most likely attributable to the significant inherent CHR differences and equipment options each job has.

    Re: Randomer Question Thread

while we're on the subject of +chr gear, let me ask a question i doubt anyone has a definitive answer to. does +macc gear affect charm accuracy? my inclination is no, but charm is to my knowledge a unique JA in that it is most assuredly not based on physical accuracy but can miss. on the other hand, iirc, macc CAN increase the accuracy of magical WS like RLB (i'm not saying it's a smart thing to do, just that i believe i remember reading that it does have an effect) so it may not be off the table. would wearing a balhran's ring when charming actually be a wise course of action or is it just a placebo?

For a MNK as part of a KV zerg... What should I be wearing/eating/subbing? I'd guess standard DD gear, sushi unless there's SV madrigal, and /NIN since it has the scorpion AoEs? Or something else?

If you're hundred fisting and chainspell stunning with 3 bards, wear accuracy, double attack and kick attack gear, eat meat, and sub warrior. If you're not hundred fisting, wear haste gear. If you've not got 3 bards or Feint, eat sushi. If you're not chainspell stunning, god help you.

Hmmm aside from appollo's staff most bst just pump chr for landing charm. However off the top of my head I don't know. Are there any really awsome Macc gear out there that would be worth replacing a chr piece for? Maybe a back item? I don't really know.

I don't think you should even need to mention CS stun on KV seeing how it's common knowledge now and has been for over 2 years.

KV's evasion isn't too spectacular, you'd be just fine with acc gear and meat.
    Ideally just stick to Ohat/PCC-Faith Torque (w/e you have)/Brutal/Merman's for earrings/Togi/Okote/Acc rings/Forager's-Amemet+1/Charger's/Life Belt/AF2 legs/Dune boots-Usukane Sune-ate depending on what you have.

As long as you don't try to gear up haste for Hundred Fists you'll be fine. No point in using Haste gear for HF.
