This is probably a dumb question, and I don't have time to read all 48 pages right now. I did a quick search and couldn't really find anything on this either.
I was wondering about subtle blow, on wiki I read that nin gets subtle blow 5, which is 25% reduction in tp given, and monk gets subtle bow 4, which is 20% tp given. While I understand this just fine, when it comes to gear that gives + subtle blow, lets use rajas ring (5 subtle blow) as an example, is that +5%, or how can I calculate that in?
The reason I'm wondering is because one of our main salvage monks is gone and probably will be for a bit longer. Last night we decided to try the discoid boss with mnk/nin and nin/drk( not dd tanking), but after about 3 mins I couldn't pull hate and just put on dd gear, which eventually ended in sharing hate decently. The monk told be she wears about +17 subtle blow in gear when tanking salvage, I just wanted to know how about much over me on ninja this would be.
Didn't find in search and didn't want to make a whole new thread.
Anybody know where to find Colibri in Mamook? Various online resources list Colibri lvl 70-71 in Mamook with 14 spawn points. I'm at work atm, but going to explore tonight, just wondering if anyone knew approximate location.
I don't have precise details, but I seem to remember 1-2 of them hanging around the big trees in the logging area. I could very well be mistaken, but they aren't clustered to the point of an exp camp, but rather mixed in that mess of mobs that you find in the pits in Mamook.
I'll address Blue Magic Skill next, in full, but for now I'll hit this out of the way really fast, and answer more than just your question.Originally Posted by Mrdude
The answer to this question is more than just saying 'Hey, it adds a flat % just like the JT.' Because I'd have said that, and you'd not be any better at tanking on Monk in Salvage.
You don't need to worry about equipping specific Subtle Blow gear in Salvage for tanking Chariots. Toss on what you use to fight on Monk as if you're fighting XP mobs. That's it. Monk tanks by dealing damage--do as much as you can, and worry about the TP you're giving second. Don't switch out pieces for enmity gear, don't switch out pieces for Subtle Blow gear. Play Monk, punch things hard, don't suck with Shadows, and use Counterstance to grab hate and then turn it off (on Chariot, it's good also when doing Long-Armed to Chi Blast -> Counterstance after regaining control from charm).
typical subtle blow gear is Rajas Ring (of course), a few usukane things, I don't remember if black belt has some for some reason, and that's really it. if you're that worried about it, bring 8ish people and make one come on corsair and abuse Monk's Roll.
mmkay?
edit: Salvage is about making things die as fast as possible with the least amount of risk possible trying to achieve that speed. Make a setup with that idea in mind--if you had a meter between risk and safety, I'd head just a little bit away from the middle going towards risk as long as you also have backup plans and people that can react and do them quickly and effectively.
placeholder for BLU Skill response, just got a phone call at work and might be on it for a while unless it's just a password reset
I am actually a ninja, and I was more so wondering about the difference between our subtle blow. I figure'd it wasn't just a flat % increase, but I didn't know for sure.

A few random questions:
1. If I use man eater which has the latent effect, does the latent effect also apply to my off hand weapon?
2. Can I give my NPC a sentinel/genbu shield?
3. Does an extra 2% make a difference if the current haste set up is 11%?
4. If a thf get aggro by a mob (aggros by sight) and uses hide, does it lose aggro?

Orcs aggro by sight but track by scent, so Hide doesn't work on them for example.
I believe otherwiki has a list of what it does and doesn't work on.
And not really an answer to your question, but I always gave my NPCs G.Katana so I could SC with anything they use. >.>
well since winter took #4, i'll answer 1 and 3 for you...Originally Posted by fobber
1) yes. the latent being the 5 acc and 15 att does apply across the board, that's what makes offhanding a joytoy, ridill, etc, that much more powerful.
3). if you are sufficiently accurate and powerful in your attacks, keep trying to add haste until you hit 25% in gear. many jobs w/o luxury items like speed belt and dusk +1 are unable to do this, but mnk, nin, and im pretty sure sam, if i had a speed belt(/emo) are able to do this fairly easy.
as for #2, i've never been a big npc person. in fact i don't have one, but why on earth would you give a genbu's shield to an npc? sentinel shield i'd understand, it's a size 3, etc etc, gives a little haste, but maybe it's because i want a genbu's shield that the luxury of giving one to an npc seems mind boggling to me(this coming from someone with a dalmatica and a genie weskit, so trust me, im not criticizing you personally).
It used to work for me but it's doesn't anymore. He definetly cant be hidden from atm.Originally Posted by Tythera
Tythera: sorry :/. I dont know if they ninja'd it, but I can confirm that it has worked in the past. It works on Dolls in the gardens (the ones that aggro). I used to mug & hide all the time.Originally Posted by Khajit
