To underscore what Therin was saying, here are the porting costs and token awards for clearing the 5 key sets of boss floors (it's a better award if you continue a few floors after boss before you exit, and a 10% bonus if you used the armband to enter). The porting cost values are from the other wiki since I don't remember them personally, and the token award values are something I figured out a while back and posted on BG wiki. Also remember that the person porting to floor 96 won't get the tokens if you use the warp trick:
Code:Floors Cost w/6 w/5 w/4 w/3 16~20 -600 +805 +920 +1035 +1150 36~40 -800 +945 +1080 +1215 +1350 56~60 -1100 +1085 +1240 +1395 +1550 76~80 -1500 +1225 +1400 +1575 +1750 96~100 -1900 +1365 +1560 +1755 +1950
Therin cleared that up but yeah, sorry for the misunderstanding. My static has 1 main disc, which is up to floor 76. We also have a secondary disc that is on.. like.. 26 or something. When the main disc holder runs low on tokens, we progress some on the secondary disc for tokens.Originally Posted by TheStig
The "whee drops" part comes in because we will spend more time on worthwhile NMs for ??? drops. But also, we occasionally go back to fl.16-20 for boots drop.
Nice, I understand completely now. I will save this page for reference. Thank you very much.
Sure, your WS average will be higher with SA+WS or TA+WS, but you won't be able to make a gear swap that tries to maximize both the SA or TA damage while still maintaining accuracy for the other hits in the WS. Even if the guaranteed hit weren't a factor, I'd still argue that it's better to separate SA and TA from WS so that you can make those hits big while still maintaining a high level of accuracy for your multihit WS.Originally Posted by Wizerd
I have a question for people who use Noscript. I recently installed it and I figure since the main reason I got it was to secure myself against people who hack FFXI-related sites to steal accounts, I try to keep it on for any of those. However, by doing so I can't see listings on FFXIAH, and I can't use PHPBB buttons here or on my LS's forums, etc. What can I safely disable on these and other FFXI sites without negating the point of using Noscript to begin with?
Unless the sites themselves decide to turn on us, you should be safe whitelisting them. You'll see that there are a number of different sites in the list, just enable the one you're actually on and you should be golden.Originally Posted by Suiram
I just started using it myself, and what I do basically is if I know EXACTLY what it is that is being blocked, then I feel safe to allow it. IE: when you load up BG main site it blocks the flash banner and menu, I've seen them a hundred times and know exactly what they are so I know I'm safe to allow em. At least thats how I do it, I'm sure it makes you a little bit vulnerable but I'd rather do a decent job and have slight vulnerability than to turn the entire Internet into a boring ass room with padded walls.
One thing I noticed with noscript is that iframes are allowed by default, at least in the version I downloaded. You might want to check in the options and make sure they're blocked.
Even if they're allowed, NoScript will block the iframe from running a script on your machine, therefore nullifying it.Originally Posted by fantasticdan
Kirin zerging as MNK Q...
If I have three BRDs (or two BRDs + a COR) using SV buffs and a THF for Feint (probably no Angon though we do have a WHM who wants to go DRG to everything) would Destroyers or Faith Baghs be better?
What about w/ three BRDs and no SV?
Thanks!
genbu kabuto or hecatomb cap for sata steelcyclone
i'm not sure if the str and vit mods are both secondary or the str is primary and the vit is secondary so i'm not sure which is better for that purpose.
anyone know?

A good rule of thumb (not applicable in 100% of situations, but in most) is this:Originally Posted by Bartylby
For weaponskills, STR is ALWAYS greater than any other modifier that isn't STR, unless the other modifier outnumbers STR by at least 2x.
The only possible exceptions I can think of are for a THF using SA WSes, or the very few WSes that have no STR modifier at all, and in almost every case if you have a weaponskill that doesn't have a STR modifier you probably shouldn't be using it anyway (hi2u Geirskogul, Final Heaven, etc.).
Therefore, in almost every case, gear for STR. A case in which you would use VIT over STR would be if you DIDN'T have Hecatomb Cap, but if you do, definitely use that.
it's more a case of either getting the kabuto for free with my sky ls, or saving money and buying the abjuration (i'm not in an ls that camps kings) and the cap (both of which would run me a ton of money lol).
I have WHM and BRD at 75 and recently got Marduk hands. They're not amazing I know, but once I 3/3ed I felt compelled to upgrade them, so now I'm wondering what I can use them for aside from idle regen. Anything at all? ._.
Before I had Choral cuffs +1, I used them for my CHR setup. Now I bring them along for SS
57 Blm, looking towards the future.
Relatively easy to obtain hMP sets.
Full Yigit
or
Yigit body/legs
AF+1 hat
Genie Gages
Goliard Clogs
Something I missed?
Kabuto is good, Heca is better. Get the Kabuto with your LS, and use that until you've saved up the money for Heca.Originally Posted by Bartylby
goliard chapeau is hmp +2, which is superior to either AF+1 or yigit. i know you said 'easy to obtain' and floor 100 goliard may not be easy to obtain, but i've seen better drop rates on goliard heads than i have on clogs, which you listed, so i figured i'd throw it inOriginally Posted by Secksi
hopefully elphaba will elaborate on it, is that there is a threshold you can reach at which point the hmp you have overcomes the +3.3hmp(or 1 tic of refresh every 3 seconds) that full yigit gives. but im elvaan and have a dalmatica, so to be blunt, i haven't bothered getting full yigit, since i dont have that much mp to recover, and a dalmatica to idle in for refresh.
