Would Custom M Gloves (STR/DEX+3) or Pallas' Bracelets(STR+9/DEX-5) be better for Dancing Edge on DNC, since they don't get the same DEX > Damage bonus that THFs get?
Am I missing something with Velocity Shot? Often when I activate it, I don't see my numbers going up at all, and just staying at the same level. I don't really have any records of this, but I've noticed when I use sushi that my damage hardly varies at all and my VS doesn't seem to increase my damage. I realize it could just be that the effects on the monster change, but it happens a lot that I'll do "Shot for x dmg" "Velocity Shot" "Shot for same dmg." It never seems to do that with subs though...
Custom M Gloves, I thought DE had DEX mods, wait for someone else to answer to though cause I am far from expert at FFXI stuff.Originally Posted by travOtaku
THF would only get that bonus if they SA and only on first hit, besides DEX mods.
Do any RNGs make use of the Deadeye Earring from Pulling the Strings ENM? Also, how long does the effect on it last?

But the question at hand: Custom M gloves would be better, Dancing Edge has a DEX modifier, using any kind of gigas bracelets for the STR and -DEX would be taking one step forward and two steps back.
I've been using the Custom M Gloves, but then I heard from a few people that if you aren't a THF, then the DEX modifiers don't matter as much. So I just figured I'd post to get a second opinionIt's nice to see I was using the right gloves from the start. Thanks for the input.
I use it for zergs, lasts long enough for KV or DL or whatever to die. I think it lasts like 5 minutes or something.Originally Posted by Ryushii
My LS is staring to do Ouryu Cometh BCNM, and i will be the pld for it, ive never fought wyrms before but ive been looking into an earth resist build, how much earth resist do i need for it to be effective with barstonra and earth carol. Right now i can hit around 110 earth resist on my own gear.
At what point does hMP become less important than one tick of Refresh?
I ask this, because based on a previous thread, it was decided that the maximum resting-build for a RDM would include Duelist's Chapeau instead of Goliard Chapeau, in addition to the fact that if I'm not mistaken, full Yigit is the best option for other mages(unless you're swapping in your hMP equipment right as your resting tick occurs).
Thanks![]()
If you look this was answered before, Refresh equals 3.334 hmp. So +4hmp beats it and Yigit is the best unless you have Goliard Clogs or RDM AF2 Hat w/ every other piece of +hmp(inc +1hmp hands and yigit pants)(or Goliard Chap w/ hmp hands and feet).
Err, my mistake.Originally Posted by Judai

-DEX is always bad, and for SATA, STR doesn't do anything for it. STR on thf is kinda lulz unless you have mandau.Originally Posted by shihei
The amount you'll need also depends on if your bard has the HQ instrument and how much barearth your WHM can give you. I shoot for about 275 total, obviously the more the better. I don't remember specifically what my base is, but it's less than the max pld can get.Originally Posted by transmit
To be honest, you might be better off stacking some MDB and -% and just go all out enmity. Cure bomb yourself, and hate stays right on you.
Shura Togi +1 or Hauby?
quickquick
Haub +1, unless you're a monk.
I tried searching, but cant search for words less than 5 letters... (dark, bio) but how much dark magic skill/INT is needed for the different tiers of bio2, poison2, and the elemental debuffs?
Bio II:
Dark Magic Skill 200 - 210 = 5/tick
Dark Magic Skill 211 - 268 = 6/tick
Dark Magic Skill 269 - 290 = 7/tick
Dark Magic Skill 291 - ??? = 8/tick
Elemental Debuffs:
1 - 39 INT = 1hp/tic (-5 stat)
40 - 69 INT = 2hp/tic (-7 stat)
70 - 99 INT = 3hp/tic (-9 stat)
100 - 149 INT = 4hp/tic (-11 stat)
150 - ??? INT = 5hp/tic (-13 stat)
Poison II I'm not exactly sure about, I know the highest you can get is 10, but it can do less than that. It seems to be based on INT like elemental debuffs, rather than enfeebling magic, but I don't know if anyone has tested the tiers.
So I've got a question born out of laziness more than anything else. Does boosting effect the potency of penance? I'm sure the information is out there somewhere, or I could just test it myself, but that's why there are forums like this, neh?
