If you're PLD, if you can sub NIN. (If it says what you are in your sig then forgive me, I have them turned off for work). He casts Tier IV, AM and Stonega lots. You can survive most things if you're a PLD with shedload of HP but you'll be an MP sink if you don't have /NIN. Blink Tier IVs and AM and just worry about the agas. He does sleepga - you could consider poison for that. You path him around the outside of a set of pillars. He's not too bad to kite at all. Most of the time we do it with NINs but I've supported WARs, PLDs and NINs doing it and a RDM/NIN could do this in his sleep.

Just don't get so caught up in the running you forget to do everything you can to keep hate. Make sure your mages erase choke off you so if he binds you they can erase you fast and remove the bind. Stack a bunch of EMN and you're good tbh.

Watch to learn when you can afford to stop to cast and make sure once you're comfortable with how he works learn when to stop so peeps can get off WS/Spells etc but honestly he pauses to cast a lot so it's not too bad.

We can't zerg him yet but we hope to at some point so we're stuck with kiting him. If you don't know much about the fight then just remember there are generally 2 stages, one where you'll kite with a small team until he's done summoning the minis and then one where the DD's come in and damage Kirin.

I'm assuming you can only have 1 trial WS quest active at a time?

Yes but you can cancel an active one by trading the weapon back to the quest NPC. Brutus yells at me every few months when I turn in my trial axe with like 50 points on it in favor of doing another weapon. I keep telling him to make Decimation better and I'll finish it, but he's not studying it.

One more thing add, how do I change the position of "recast" plug in?
In your Windower folder, go into the Plugin folder. Open Recast.txt.

    [Recast_Position]
    X=16.0
    Y=125.0
Change X and Y to whatever you want, where the top-left of the screen is considered the origin (0,0). You can experiment with it a bit by unloading and then reloading it after changing those co-ordinates.

we still do it the old kite method too (don't ask why, long story, we kill it fast enough that way that nobody really cares that much.) and on blm/whm i kite the damn thing all the time. he won't hit you that much and if you've got a good enmity setup, you should be able to hold hate with relative ease. we too usually use nins and wars but there's no reason a pld can't do the same. he stops to cast, tp, run around pillars, and generally be stupid constantly. if you can't outrun him, even w/o w legs, i'd be shocked. hate is probably going to be harder for you than survival i'd think.

    Re: Randomer Question Thread

On Multi-Hit WS's: My understanding on how TP is calculated for these, is that you get full TP return for the 1st hit, and then 1 TP for each hit that connects afterward. When the first hit misses, the other attacks will still connect, but will still only generate 1 TP for each hit that connects. For any given WS, the maximum number of attacks that can happen is 8, misses or otherwise.

How, then, do I end up with an 8 TP return after doing Penta Thrust?

I am WS'ing in what amounts to +59 Store TP after merits and such, as SAM/THF with Brutal and Pole Strap (for DA procs.) Could that much Store TP be causing that 1 TP per hit to be 2 TP per hit? I can't figure it out.

    Edit: recalculated my Store TP

As far as I know, Poison is always 1/tick for 30 seconds and never scales up. And no, no way to increase duration.

Add: I keep hearing about Poison II scaling, and I still have yet to see a single person post #'s to back it up. Anyone know where to find them?

assuming you had brutal on, yes? if so, 5 hits if you got a DA proc (i think it's fair to assume you did) multiplied by 1.59=7.95 TP. probably rounds up to 8 due to some rounding at some point or you actually have 60 store TP and miscounted.

-double checks- Whoops, forgot about the +1 on the Engetsuto, which would put it at 60. Ok, and that also explains why I've seen 28TP returns from time to time, where the DA kicks in. Thanks

Scaling in damage above 10/tick? Nooooooo, practically certain it does not. They may have been thinking about the BLM debuffs. Nothing I know changes the duration either.

    Re: Randomer Question Thread

    Few questions:

    - For SAM WS, I should I stick with Pallas or upgrade my AF hands? Y/G/K are STR mod only, so I figure the +2 STR does more than +7 DEX will.

    - SAM and MNK ranged slot, Tiphia or Smart Grenade? I can see how Tiphia is better due to the small increase in accuracy, but I don't like the -eva or -HP (not that it really matters on either job).

    - This topic popped up in Salvage: I said MND is magic defense whereas INT is magic attack, but other said MND is defense against only light magic, and INT is defense against black magic as well as attack. Which is correct?

    - Is it more worth it to upgrade MNK AF hands to +1 for the extra 2 STR on WS, or RDM AF lolfeet (over Duelist's Boots) for the 3 more INT and 1 less MND? I'm not sure when I'll do a Nyzul20 again due to Salvage, and in Salvage we never get Morrigan feet stuff anyways lol. Or upgrade neither and wait for the damn Plaited Cord to drop so I can speed boots 4 hours more!

Banish's formula checks again the target's MND.

Elemental Magic formula checks against the target's INT.

So, INT is Magic Attack for Black Magic, and Magic Defense.

And MND is Magic Attack for White Magic, and Magic Defense. (I'm pretty sure MND boosts Divine spell damage, anyhow)

-The correct answer is Alky's, if Pallas and AF+1 are your only options I'd say AF+1

-Tiphia, the difference between the two is extremely insignificant, Grenade for situations where EVA actually matters

-If you're macroing in STR for MNK WSs you're doin it wrong. B.kote, O.Kote, and probably even H.kote would be better than AF+1 on anything with any kind of DEF (I'm assuming were talking about Asuran here)

    What Rocl said.

Also, you'll get people who say that target's MND affects resists on black magic spells, but there's nothing but anecdotal evidence supporting it, and I'm not buying it personally.

    - I get 2 more attack and 4 more STR with Temple than B.kote, so that's why I use them... unless you're saying I should boost in Temple -> switch to B.kote THEN WS. God that would be a long and painful macro.

Thanks for clearing up the INT/MND thing.

Which one should I use for rampage with maneater/ridill? My accuracy lately is never capped, and I was thinking about going for Ares's gauntlet to free some space in my inventory (I will be able to store warrior af2 if I stop using the hand in my "defense/survival" set).

Alk would probably the best when my accuracy is capped, but it never is. How much damage am I looking at if I lose 3 and 7 str to increase my accuracy?
Heca Mitts are fantastic for Rampage, I find them to be superior to Alky Bracelets especially if you are having acc troubles. Ares looks like a decent alternative but I think Heca would perform better.
The only difference between Alk and n.gloves is 5 acc vs 4str,which is not that big. We can assume dex help critical hit on rampage, but no one know exactly how it affect it (unless I missed a thread about its effect on WS)

    N.gloves vs Ares
Slightly enhanced crit rate + 3str vs 8 accuracy + slightly faster hit (your next hit is ~5% faster)

    Alk vs ares
7str vs 11 acc + slightly better crit rate

I think Alk would win in most situation where you fight stuff lower than VT, and ares/n.glove are closely tied above. 11 acc is generally an increase of +~5% accuracy, placing them ahead Alk if that increase surpass the one given by the +7str.

Either way, I made my choice and will go for the new look. Showing off pretty gears > 0.5% dmg.

Ares gauntlets seem more like a steel cyclone or meat setup peice(for rampage) to me than anything.
gaining 10 acc at the cost of 3 str isnt that bad of a deal since you can stuff even more str in somewhere else thanks to them.
    Aka shit is situational.
4str 4 vit vs 11 str looks like a steel cyclone pieces? You wont miss much with g.axes, and 11 str is always going to beat the crap out of a secondary modifier.

    Maat cap is 7str 7vit 7 dex?
    Heca is 11str 6dex?

If 11 str is better than 15vit (genbu kabuto), I'm going to go on a wild guess that 4str is better than 7 vit. Str is calculated twice in the formula (basic dmg and secondary attribute). While you gain 3 more secondary attribute, you lose 4 very important strength point in your base damage.

Secondary modifier worth shit, and unless you can find something retarded (1str vs 4 vit maybe), just go with str. I can't think of any WS where you would go for secondary modifier before strength

do the swap for both gloves in mnk ws it's worth it even though longer macro and for sam I'd take AF +1 over pallas 2 str vs 12 dex(roughly 8 acc) in anytime meat ws so 2 str vs 4% hit on ws(if u aren't hitting cap already).
