The 200 or so Fishing limit is per day [JP midnight] and Toon specific right?
Nothing to stop me from sending left over bait to my Mule to fish up Carp for Lu Shang after meeting limit on main?

Couple damage formula questions: does the level correction aspect of cratio mean it caps lower vs higher level mobs, or just takes more attack to reach the same cap? Also, where fSTR < 0 is it floored or truncated?
fStr is always floored as I recall, and adds to your weapon damage.
cRatio is the actual level correction function, and doesn't really have a cap as far as I know, other than the highest level mobs.
pDif is your attack (modified by cRatio) /target defense, and is what has a cap, depending on 1h, 2h, and different caps for crits for both... least I seem to recall the crit caps for both being different.
So you take the cRatio, modify your attack by that, determine your pDif, and multiply your fStr modified Damage by that to get your melee damage.
Course the formula is usually presented in the reverse order.
Sorry for the confusion if I muddled the terms- what I was trying to ask was whether cRatio is factored in before or after the pDif cap. I can't really think of a better way to phrase the question. Thanks for the reply to the flooring question; I wasn't sure considering it'd be the same thing for values greater than zero, which would be the vast majority of circumstances.Originally Posted by Max™
cRatio is factored before you determine pDif.
Say you have 400 Attack, and your cRatio is 0.7. When you determine pDif you do it off a level corrected 280 Attack.
cRatio is important since if you're calculating pDif against a mob that has 280 Defense, while you have 400, that's a significant difference then after applying the above mentioned cRatio and working from 280 Attack.
To have capped pDif after a large cRatio correction means you have A LOT of attack, say the mob has 280 Defense, you'll need a pre-cRatio Attack of something like 800 I think?
The level correction is done beforehand, the cap is the same but it takes more Attack to reach it on a higher level mob, hopefully I'm not misunderstanding what you're asking.Originally Posted by Plight
Yeah, that's what I was trying to ask. Thank you both.
I must say, it's neat when the formulas finally click and you can turn around and make sense of it for others.
Question on lolChocoboraising >.>
Thinking of making a speed Chocobo, I went to build it's mental stats to learn the stories, then going to flip it around. Day 23 and I'm at level 3 of discern/recept. Do I still have enough time to cap STR/END? And will I be able to potentially keep my mental levels around this ideally?
What happened to BLMs since 2005, and why are they frowned upon in EXP Parties? (I left FFXI around sept. 2005)
Heavily limited by MP recovery; melees generally have better long-term damage output on xp-class monsters.Originally Posted by Lee
So I take it that's why I've seen a lot of BLM Solo Guides. They are highly sought after by end-game LSs though, right?
Less so than in 2005 as well, but comparatively more desirable for HNMs than we are for Exp parties.![]()
that and the fact that at 62 in bibiki bay on goblin pets i can get 10-13k an hr with ideal pulls and xp ring
8k an hr if im lazy and watching tv while i play; i personally solo'd from 40-66 with i think 2 small pt's one thankfully getting thru a large part of the slump that is 41-44
Today, I tried to solo Carmine Dobsonfly right after maintenance, in which I was able to log on at 12:20 pdt. Other wiki says this is a 21-24 pop NM, yet I camped this for 6 straight hours without any pops?
Any ideas why? No other people camped before I did. Some people did come, but it was at around 13:50pdt.

Huh? Does this apply to all 21-24 NMs? Does this mean theoretically it could pop 8 hours, 10 hours, or even 24 hours after maintenance?Originally Posted by elphaba

With H2H merit's I recall reading that after a certain point extra merits are techincally a waste (if I recall correctly). So what would the most practical merits be with and w/o a Faith Torque?
I wouldn't call it a waste, since the merits are still doing the exact same thing that they do for any other weapon. The difference is that past a certain point, those merits aren't going to increase your base damage. They're still going to increase your attack and accuracy though.Originally Posted by Keirasai
That being said, the tiers for base damage you can hit are at 280 and 290. That's 2 or 7 merits without Torque, and 0 (Torque brings you over 280 by default) and 4 with Torque. You can't break 300 H2H, so after 290, H2H skill only adds Attack and Accuracy (just like it would with any other weapon skill in the game).
