With H2H merit's I recall reading that after a certain point extra merits are techincally a waste (if I recall correctly). So what would the most practical merits be with and w/o a Faith Torque?

I wouldn't call it a waste, since the merits are still doing the exact same thing that they do for any other weapon. The difference is that past a certain point, those merits aren't going to increase your base damage. They're still going to increase your attack and accuracy though.

That being said, the tiers for base damage you can hit are at 280 and 290. That's 2 or 7 merits without Torque, and 0 (Torque brings you over 280 by default) and 4 with Torque. You can't break 300 H2H, so after 290, H2H skill only adds Attack and Accuracy (just like it would with any other weapon skill in the game).

only hand to hand base damage is affected by combat skill, everything else is what you see on the weapon

It only sucked for me since my thf was going vs torama. recheck your WS gear or post it here so that we could see if that's where the problem is? You probably have too much acc or not enough.

TP Return looks good for DE.

I'll assume you're seperating SA and TA where possible?

Might want to stack a bit more Dex for SA+WS for SA Dmg and Dex Modifier.
I use the same Agi gear for TA/SATA since I'm lazy.

Might also want to try Meat instead of Sushi since THF needs help in the Att field.
If you've got Dagger Merits and/or a decent Acc setup meat is always a premium choice.

Not to mention THF doesn't have to worry (much) about Colibri stealing food since you can TA hate onto others.

The reason your viper bites were doing more , and this is why I know the answer to your problem (low attack), is because VB Doubles your attack on the WS - usually capping it for your level, so you can hit high ones. If your acc is fine, and if you're in a party with madrigal, no reason to sushi. Especially if you're on colibri, just spam mithrablobs at the birds. Remember you don't have to hit 95% of the time with meat since you'll be outdamaging the pitiful numbers you put with sushi.

tldr : All WS need attack to get big numbers, VB doubles your attack which is why it's doing more than DE with that TP return. Needs more attack and less sushi, adjust gear to add more acc gear.

Search says that gorgets corresponding to the L3 properties don't work. You've got Kikoku, right? Metsu's Dark/Frag means you need either Thunder or Wind, as Dark/Earth/Ice/Water won't affect the WS.

I wish I could party with BRDs. Parties lately have been retarded PLDs that have never PTd with THF or /WAR people afraid to voke. I just don't waste food at that point and SATA whoever. I need less gimp PTs ;;.... Although MNKs are starting to out DD me..... With not so good gear... >=(

6 Hit Build (I use PCC instead of Chiv Chain):

Brutal + Rajas + Carbonara (allowing for Snipers +1)
or
Brutal + Rajas + Ecphoria (allowing for food other then Carbonara)

Which would be the better alternative?

Is 6 hit build viable on HNMs? Does the Store TP +7 need to be on at all times, even during WS? Does 6 hit build work when spamming Steel Cyclone instead of RR?

Assuming 504 delay and /SAM:

sTP+0: 15.7/hit
sTP+7: 16.7/hit

6 melee hits in sTP+7 = 100.2 TP
First WS hit in sTP+0 for 15.7 + 5 melee hits in sTP+7 (83.5) = 99.2
Steel Cyclone in sTP+6 for 16.5 + 5 melee hits in sTP+7 (83.5) = 100.0

That means you would have to use Raging Rush (and have at least 2 hits land), in order to maintain the "5hits post WS" build. It won't work with Steel Cyclone unless you DA. Or your alternative would be to WS in sTP+6 (Brutal+Rajas if avail).

As for 6 hit build on HNM, I don't know, as I have never meleed one (Yay tank+BLM?). But, a 6 hit build is only viable if you have enough acc to support it. It doesn't matter if you lessen your needed amount of swings to 100 tp if you wiff hits due to loss of acc.
