The latest event items included in the last update data usually is a pretty strong indicator of when the next version update will be. Do you people whining really not get it? I wouldn't expect one until late Feb. or March, but I suppose it's going to be a whole few months of this. They change something minor towards fixing a long standing issue, and it's just a flood of zam quality whining.

If you see Christmas items in the update, you know they won't update until after Christmas - that's the idea, right? That's the guideline I've generally used to get a rough estimate of when to start expecting a new update. Between the various holidays, you can generally pin down when the next update should be to within a month or two.

Though I am starting to wonder... there aren't any new event items for Valentione's Day yet, are there?

Weren't the snowmen added before the WotG update? I don't think there is any reason to believe something that's less than SE saying "Our next update will be...".

Just remember they now have "fixed" the boats a good three times now.

Speaking of, I went to the boat to Nashmau to buy more Light Cards from the guild on the boat and it fucking SPIT ME OUT IN NASHMAU.

That pissed me off because they're only 36g on the boat, yet they are 49g in Nashmau.

And I wonder how many charges they are going to give COR. If it's a bullshit 3 shots and 4 minutes per charge, I'd rather have the old system. I wonder what will happen to Quick Draw recast merits, though.

I dunno about the rest of you, but as a PS2 user, if this works it is very awesome. D/cing 3 times in the span of 1 hour for assault (we go once a week).. having to go to Al Zhabi just for Sanction. Besieged going on? Risk d/cing or go without Sanction.

I wasn't the only one who expected to see the "big" update when I clicked on the link in POL, but this is satisfying for me. Besides, the "big" update will come within the next 1-2 months. I doubt this was delaying the update.

I'm sorry I can't just let this slide. I am a Ps2 user also but this is certainly NOT awesome. So SE introduces WOTG and all of a sudden Ps2 users everywhere freeze constantly in Whitegate. They take 2 months to even address the issue and then plan an update to hopefully fix it and this is awesome?

This just goes back to my idea that SE in general conditions people in FFXI to expect such utter scraps and fixes to months old issues and people are happy for it. It just blows my mind.

We don't want fixes to issues that never should have occured, and we don't want these fixes months afterwards (hai2u dead zone debaucle and now ps2 free crap). We don't want to wait months after a laughable expansion to hear anything about the next update and when to expect it. Is it so hard for SE to get this?

Also, for people not on PS2...do your interactive Whitegate NPCs look like they're on meth now?

I just got a silver coin and warped to Bastok (Bastok > San d'Oria, btw) and Ugrihd looked like he was having convulsions when I talked to him. And then, poor little Kaduru-Haiduru nearly drilled a hole to whatever's on the opposite side of Vanadiel when he did his jump and pirouette thing.

Yeah I just recently came back to the game when wotg came out after quitting for 6 months. The fact that this occured for 6 months easy like you said is just wow...

I ran around Whitegate hitting all my trouble spots at JP primetime, so there were >3k people on line. No lag at all, no problems to speak of.

So yar, looks like SE got this one right.

Oh, no, I agree with you. I'm usually the first to rant about freezing up at NPCs. I'm saying the fact that they are actually attempting to fix it is the awesome part.

And it's not awesome it took so long. I'm not very pleased that it did. To quote myself from my LS forum:

For SE to not even acknowledge this problem in the "Current Known Issues" report until now is just a slap in the face. New content is nice but don't let old crap stay broken while you make new crap that will break at a later date.

The report in question is the Jan.11 one.

EDIT: IIRC the freezing up started around the time they moved the WG sanction NPC to the fountain, but don't quote me on that.

Well now this morning after playing last night my PS2 wont log into POL on my broadband connection, just gets stuck on the checking POL part. /sigh I got the update last night.

Weird thing is it will connect just fine if I try and connect through 56k, maybe my network adapter is suddenly broken somehow.
