Lost makes every other show boring...this is sad. Every time I watched Heroes last season, I usually ended up thinking how "lost would have made it better". It spoiled me.

Heroes sucks shit compared to Lost, no major network drama can even come close.

Time travel would immediately explain how Richard (Nestor Carbonell) looked exactly the same age in the flashback of Ben as a child and in the present.

Not quite sure how many caught it, but apparently it's also possible to 'call back in time' from the island. If you remember, in the Sayid episode Faraday was told that if Machowski answers to hang up immediately when he was calling the boat. However, the boat members on the island already knew Machowski had went crazy and was locked up at this point. Only other reason I can think of is if they somehow thought it was possible he would break free and go back to his normal job like nothing was wrong.


Edit: Also, at what point did Penny's father stop hating Desmond? I thought he made it very clear in the earlier episodes that he wanted him out of his daughter's life, but in this one he says that he's not the one who hates him.

I don't know the exact timeline (and its hard to really know what actually took place because of the time travel), but didn't the conversation where her father ripped on Desmond occur further in the future? I thought it was that conversation, where he basically told Desmond he was worthless and to get lost, that pushed Desmond into the sailing race to win his approval or something, which is how he ended up on the island.

Problem with your idea is that they already said matter won't travel in time. Of course, there could be an exception, but it's still early for this.

There is however a possibility that Ben left the island for a few years, and came back much older (since 2h on the island = ~1 day), similar to Walts last season. For all we know, Richard could be 400 years old real time, but only ~40 on the island. Not that this theory is much better considering Rousseau has been on island since 16 years (I doubt she left Europe in 1900).

I don't think he really stopped hating Desmond. I mean, the only reason he gave Penny's new address was because he wanted Desmond to be crushed by Penny personally, and be told by her that she hates him.

Huh? But I thought they didn't physically time travel? Remember when Desmond came back and was looking at himself in the mirror and they guy said "you look a lot older don't you?". I still think Richard is just some sort of immortal.

another thing i noticed and im not sure it was mentioned yet is that the whole 'constant' telephone call was already referenced into the story earlier. if anybody remembers when jack first met desmond at the stadium where they were running, desmond ran into pen before he saw jack. pen asks why he hasn't called yet and he just brushes it off. doesn't this mean his past self already knew it was gonna happen?
