I just noticed the thing that Sayid picked up to use for power to make the phone call looks a lot like Miles Ghost Buster device.

another thing i noticed and im not sure it was mentioned yet is that the whole 'constant' telephone call was already referenced into the story earlier. if anybody remembers when jack first met desmond at the stadium where they were running, desmond ran into pen before he saw jack. pen asks why he hasn't called yet and he just brushes it off. doesn't this mean his past self already knew it was gonna happen?

Oh wow, I didn't even think to remember that. I might need to watch that conversation again, but was she referring to the phone call? If he specified December 24, 2004, then why would she be so anxious?

Like I mentionned before, the universe has a way to correct those paradox created by time traveling. Charlie is the best example of this (or that guy with red shoes who in Desmond's episode last season).
I dont think he knew at that time what would happen, but he probably did ask for his number for whatever reason

I guess I overestimate the time ratio (based it on what Jack said when they left, but Faraday did say time is relative to where you are in last episode. If there isn't a fixed ratio, maybe it depend of the path you follow when you leave the island. Take the wrong coordinate, and you get tossed back farther in the future

I was surprised to see it was still 2004 on the freighter, I was expecting a later date. The plane crashed in September of 2004 (I believe it was 9/22/2004, the same date the piloat aired), so they've been on the island for about three months. That would be consistent with their time frames previously established in the show.

True, but that would also mean Penny got the phone call a few years late.

For now, I'm going to go with the storm causing the time jump. The coordinate seemed pretty important to avoid those "side effects", which are probably related to the time travelling.

But this is also Lost, they're known to leave clues like that where you won't get them til (usually much) later on.

So wow, Henry Ian Cusick (actor who plays Desmond) was also in Hitman and 24 (season 5). Shame I saw both of those before I started watching Lost. Went back to see his roles and despite being very good, I just can't get the image of Desmond out of my head lol. My life's been infused with Lost for the last month non-stop.

Cusick needs a big role in a big movie or something... he's great.

I've been seeing a lot of familiar faces in the Lost cast, and noticing people who are in Lost when watching older stuff too. The guy who plays Daniel Faraday was in Rescue Dawn and Saving Private Ryan. The guy from 3:10 to Yuma, the guy from Short Circuit, etc. I even saw Bens dad in a really old episode of Quantim Leap the other day.
