btw for anyone who only wants to know what the monster is, it's this one with a slightly rounder face, a tail which looks like a squid tentacle, and seemingly borrowing the louse concept from this old image

I am never going to New York city ever again, fuck.
They always attack NYC.
Always.
But yeah, there was a sign above the theatre warning about motion sickness and possible traumatization to which I mainly lul'd at. Overall, I'm a gigantic pussy so I was scared 90% of the movie. The whole party scene drug on forever, but I got a good laugh at John (was that the brother's name? he died too soon for me to remember) passing the camera off. And goddamn when they were in the subway tunnel and they saw the rats running, I wouldn't stand around going "Why these rats be running?" I'd pull out my AK-47 and start shooting everywhere behind me, obviously.
No, but seriously I was in one of those panic chanting "oh god" states and my brother laughed at me, in the movie theatre as I'm frantically yelling for god under my breath, and the minute I heard Marlene got bit I was like ohhhhhhhhhhhhh mah god. We always know getting bit is bad, and oh god did you see them lift Beth off the spike? Oh jesus that sounded painful, and when Hud was cheering on the army then the monster came up and took a bite out of crime. Except that crime was a helicopter, specifically, the one they were in.
In the end though, I enjoyed the movie and I would probably go again, but as long someone else went with me. Mainly because like I said, I am a huge coward.
It was incredibly intense but I don't think it was that crazy. You're right htough Rocl as soon as I saw Marlene get bit I knew she was the bitch who exploded in the trailer.
My headache finally wore off. Definitely take some sea sickness pills before you go see this movie. I spent about half the movie with my eyes closed. Even when on the non-action shots, fucking Hud was zooming in and out and playing with the focus. Fucking asshole. I loved when Hud got killed and wished it happened sooner. In addition to his shaky cam, he was annoying as hell. (Well, he did have a couple of good lines.)
I can live with a few plot holes and give the movie a thumbs up overall. However, the movie is completely unbelievable BECAUSE THERE IS NO FUCKING WAY SOME COMPANY PROMOTES SOME TOOL TO VP WHEN THAT TOOL CAN'T EVEN SHAVE REGULARLY.
(BTW, this movie made me eager to watch Lost again. Too bad the strike ruined the plan to go 16 weeks w/o repeats.)
I just watched this, ok camera copy version, and I really really liked it. Ending was really good, pacing was excellent and I was really into the movie which made the time pass by really quickly. Overall a 9/10~
It seems that almost all the 'this movie sucked' posts are made up of such stupid reasoning, the movie is exactly what it is, it's not going to change for you so you better come into it with an open mind and accept it for the way it was meant to be viewed. If you wanted an all action movie with close ups of the monster fighting helicopters and after 20 mins you realised that wasn't going to happen then don't spend the next 60 mins thinking to yourself about how much better every scene would have been if it conformed to your earlier beliefs, understand what is actually going on and enjoy it.

Cam keeps making squeeky noise!
Too pixelated to see this "splash" at the end.Originally Posted by Ikith

No, I came into the movie expecting nothing. Wanting nothing, reading no reviews, no spoilers, no opinions. You came in with a bunch of biases, and I think as we all know, biases only fuck up your view of people, movies, and life in general. (which is what I meant about "failing @ life")Originally Posted by Reality
Honestly I don't think you got it. Yes it failed with Blair Witch, mainly because it was used as a gimmick and contributed nothing to the movie. (well next to nothing.) With Cloverfield, alot of people stated why the camera was the main reason why it even came off as a good movie at all. All of the situations they were put it wouldn't have been nearly as intense had it not been show from the view that it was.Originally Posted by Reality
Do you think it really would have been possible to "revolve" the movie around something that they were running away from the whole time and NOT trying to catch footage of. It's not really realistic to revolve a movie around something you're trying to avoid...and for the most part is avoidable. (besides them going after his girl)Because I wanted the plot to evolve beyond the initial 3-4 characters. I wouldn't have minded following them around for most of the movie if there had been more story focus on the creature as well.
Me come off as smarter than someone? NEVER! Usually its just the other person coming off as dumber than me.Originally Posted by Reality

went to the 1-18-08 site and it listed this link in the header of the page.
click the blue button at the top left. it's a JP manga, but it has all of the cloverfield virals that are floating all over the internet on it. the ships are labeled tagruato just like the oilrig youtube vids. it seems like the plot of the manga is that the ships are dragging some sort of sea beast behind them on chains.

Also goddamn google video fucking sucks.
Do you think that a pirated version with a shaky cam would make this shaky cam movie totally steady?
My God dude, are you always this negative and closed-minded? Would suck to be around you in real.Originally Posted by Reality
I love the way they're keeping the whole Cloverfield hype going... once a movie releases the buzz dies down pretty fast, but I'm still as interested in it as I was before I saw it. Props JJ.
I loved the movie for what it was. It wasn't supposed to be about the monster, so jump off of that already. It was about a group of friends trying to survive.
Just saw it today. Of course it wasn't as "good" of a movie as movies before it, but I can't even begin to deny that it was the absolutely the most intense movie I've ever watched. I loved the handheld camera style (though it some scenes it was a little annoying).
I'm excited to see where this after-hype goes, and I hope that we can find out soon because I don't want to have to wait around until the DVD release to find out what the fuck the monster was.

I thought it was okay. But loud dumb people ruined it.
Seriously, I must have some kind of fucking beacon on my head that alerts people when I'm going to see a movie I really WANT to see. I had some dumb fucking old guy like right next to me with a voice deeper then Sean Connery.Originally Posted by Ohemgee
During the whole movie all he did was say "This movie is boring", "I wasted my money on this", "Get to the good part". To top it all off after the movie he litteraly as loud as he could said the movie was a piece of shit.
Not to mention having 40 bajillion phones decide to ring with the most utterly annoying ring tones a person could put on their phone.
All in all a great movie

1. Movie was awesome.
2. It wasn't a monster movie, and it delivered in it's viewpoint.
3. I still don't see how you didn't know about 9/11 for two days, working or not.
4. You're ignorant; You're funny to laugh at as well ^-^/

Explains a little bit...
Not sure if that was all true.
The only thing I can think about though is how much Slusho has done with this project and others. I know for a fact Heroes was supporting Slusho in their episodes but I don't know if maybe this movie payed Heroes to use it?
