    Tredecim vs Perdu vs Death (+1)

    I'm having an argument with my friend regarding these scythes with my friend. From what I've gathered Tredecim and Perdu parse close enough for the difference to be marginal. He's adamant that because the crit from Tredecim can't proc during WS that Perdu would win hands down. So I ask the learned members of BG, are they close enough to not matter or is Perdu superior.

    P.S. I just put in Death for good measure, I'm not sure how it does in comparison not having parsed a decent DRK with it.

    Well from the parses I've seen here they are close enough to not matter, lol. However those were before the 2h unnerf and renerf, perdu might be a little bit worse off than it was due to the jump in attack and accuracy everyone got by default.

    Tredecim is better than Perdu in almost all merit situations. It'd be more of a discussion between Tredecim and Death+1. However the difference between all 3 are pretty marginal.

    I own both the Tredecim and Perdu and from what I've seen, the Tredecim outparses it.

    Not that I'm advocating the use of a triton but both perdu and Death +1 were mentioned
    Triton: 513
    Death +1: 513
    Perdu: 501

    What would the delay matter? Note that if you mention a 6 hit build and you conveniently just don't count the TP from connecting more than 2 hits on guillotine you should save your breath.

    To 6-hit a 513 delay scythe you need 20 STP, which is /sam and Rajas ring, even from zero so that is not a problem.

    Even if the difference is marginal as we expect, wouldn't the returns on Perdu increase the more Haste you have in your set-up in a Merit situation?

    Also, a friend insists that an unlocked Gravedigger should be part of this conversation. I say only if you are BLM or BST... and even then Perdu is better.

    Tell your friend that a tredecim scythe is 8% crit and higher base damage to boot

    I own both Tred and Perdu and have found Perdu comes out on top in situations where I have a decent amount of Haste (though I can't give you an exact number, just standard 15% from gear (Homam legs are being stingy), March and a Haste spell). The lower delay really shines when you combine it with Last Resort with Desperate Blows 3 (I know this is once every 5 minutes), all while maintaining same number of hits to 100% TP assuming you don't suck at Guillo.

    And yeah, Gravedigger does suck <_< it's just a bad Tredecim. It even takes more effort to use effectively! How pointless.

    Admittedly the difference between Perdu and Tred isn't great unless you have to store TP (meritting on Imps... lol) and I haven't got a Death+1 to parse with, although I can't imagine it beating down those two.

    And yeah, I'm /sam on my drk 90%+ of the time, since that affects things.

    Ok, read it, now here's a different question.

    I have Tredecim, got Chief Sergeant last night and already burned 40k on Perdu wand (Nyzul winja). Now, I have askar korazin, rajas, brutal and /sam. Would Perdu break my 6hit? Cause every now and then im parsing below 90% and it's driving me up the wall. And that shitty +5 acc is starting to look nice.

    A delay 501 weapon with +26StoreTP (unless I've calculated wrongly, /sam [15] + Askar Korazin [5] + Rajas Ring [5] + Brutal Earring [1]) is 6 hit (~5.85 hit but obviously rounded up) with straight melee, not even counting weaponskill TP. Unless I've miscalculated <_<

    I'll be honest, I cheat and use the store TP program that someone made, but according to that you only need 23 STP for perdu sickle to be 6 hit.

    It did correctly calculate how much I needed to 6hit Algol (which works and is awesome lol), just to vouch for it's accuracy somewhat.

    Out of curiousity, why is death+1 considered so good? Does the hp drain proc often enough or something? I usually have seen JPs (and only JPs) even use this.

    Or was it good back in the day before we ever saw a Tredecim or Perdu?

    Anyway, between the two, I think it depends on your gear. You need extra store TP gear that you may not have (or it's less than desirable overall) to hit 6 hit with perdu...

    I think with the Death+1, the high base DMG draws people to it, and I wouldn't discount the possibility that the name (Death Scythe, how BADASS!) draws people to it too.

    And yeah, +23StoreTP on 501 delay Scythe is -just- 6 hit (~5.98 hit, rounded up obviously) so the calculator seems accurate =P

    Are you sure? I was looking at whether or not /sam+rajas would give me a 6-hit build at lv65 using Darksteel Scythe +1 (513 delay) and when I calculated it I got the answer, no.

    13.0 + [(513 - 480) * 1.5] / 50 = 13.99
    13.9 * 1.2 = 16.68
    100 / 16.6 = 6.02

    I remember reading somewhere that FFXI truncates its results to 1 decimal so thats what I did (on each result), however if you don't truncate the tp/hit before store tp gets calculated you get the 6-hit setup you described.

    13.0 + [(513 - 480) * 1.5] / 50 = 13.99
    13.96 * 1.2 = 16.788
    100 / 16.7 = 5.988~

    Which one is correct? It would be nice to know if I could make a 6-hit build at lv65 using /sam+rajas, otherwise I think I'd opt for snipers instead of rajas during TP build.

    I'll have to grab a 513 delay scythe to check but I am fairly sure it is possible, hence the reason apocalypse is 513 delay.

    edit: Just tested and ended up with 99tp so I guess it's not 100% accurate, I am guessing you're using PCC/A instead of chiv, otherwise that would obviously push you over 100.

    If you can 6hit a 501 scythe, you can 6hit a 513 scythe.

    Everyone always forgets to include TP from Guillotine.

    To be a "true" 6 hit you're supposed to count it from 0-100 I think, but yes, with guillotine it is indeed doable.
