    Re: 4chan vs. Scientology

In China, it is believed that a disciple of Zendo's[h] jumped out of a tree in order to kill himself and reach the Pure Land. Zendo's response was not that the action of suicide was right or wrong in and of itself, but that the disciple who wanted so strongly to see the Pure Land was doubtless ready to reach it.[23] Other more recent examples may be found in the Buddhist suicides of the Vietnamese monks protesting against the Vietnam government.[24] Whether or not these stories are all historical fact is not at issue here. The point is that they demonstrate the consistent Buddhist position toward suicide: there is nothing intrinsically wrong with taking one's own life, if it is not done in hate, anger, or fear. Equanimity or preparedness of mind is the main issue. In summary, Buddhism realizes that death is not the end of anything, but a transition. Buddhism has long recognized persons' rights to determine when they should move on from this existence to the next. The important consideration here is not whether the body lives or dies, but whether the mind can remain at peace and in harmony with itself. The Jodo (Pure Land)([i] tradition tends to stress the continuity of life, while the Zen tradition tends to stress the importance of the time and manner of dying. Both of these ideas are deeply rooted in the Japanese consciousness.

Its nice to see them doing something (semi)productive for a change. I honestly believe they would try to take down other religions if they had a chance. Even with as much negative public sentiment Scientology has going for it, and its lack of entrenchment (compared to other 'religions'), their chance of success is pretty small.

My comment on the crazy religious argument is that those who said this was an experiment in creating a religion for money and tax advantages was correct. Now that it has been established, everything they do is to protect their status (mostly through litigation, reminds me of big tobacco mmmm). And to some degree, those who say it is like other religions are correct too. You gotta admit that even if its equally unprovable, Jesus/Moses/Mohammad and co. have a little more credibility than Xenu. If for no other reason than the wealth of historical documents that are (rightfully) debated regarding authenticity have been challenged throughout the past centuries. You get more credibility in my mind if there is public debate over these documents and artifacts for 100s of years vs. 'YOU PAY TO GET THE SECRETS!!!'

I agree that refusing necessary medical care is akin to blowing yourself up or lighting yourself on fire. (same goes for teaching/directing people to do so)
You can NOT say the Buddhist suicide protesters are even close to the Islamic suicide bombers. They are fighting off a continual invasion where they still live and an attempt to eradicate their 'religion' (it is not a religion, it is not faith based). They are also going strictly against the Buddhist views and central philosophy of "cause no harm to yourself or other sentient beings."

Don't they say something in Buddhism along the lines of "suicide is considered akin to murder, because you're still killing a person, and killing any person is against the religion" (using the word religion loosely here)? I could have sworn I heard a monk say something along those lines a while ago

    Hurray religion haters!
That's a pretty common argument against atheism, but it's not really a valid one. The fact that Stalin was an atheist and was also a pathetic excuse for a human being have no more relation to each other than the fact that I'm black and also like vanilla ice cream. The difference between Stalin and, for example, the Crusaders or Jihadists is that he didn't kill people in the name of atheism any more than he killed people in the name of his mustache (he was actually quite fond of "worshiping" and "unquestionable authority figures", in fact - if you look at the way he treated his people and wanted them to treat him it seems almost like... religious fundamentalism). To put it another way: if you included that on the atheist side, you'd also have to include every single war ever orchestrated by anyone who wasn't atheist on the religious side - which I'm sure you will find is the vast majority of them.

I imagine it would be fairly hard to ever find any sane person committing crimes of that scale in the name of atheism (unless they were, of course, not sane. But wouldn't that mean the problem is the person's psychology and not his being an atheist in itself? Like, I don't know, people who commit crimes because they say they saw it in a video game?) . I mean, what would you exactly do it for and what would you base your reasoning on? There's not really any doctrine to follow, sinners to punish or holy texts to misinterpret. The best thing you could ever come up with would be to just flat out lie (like the people who kill others and blame it on Satanism or something of the sort). People can do a lot of things in the name of a belief, but it's kind of hard to do major things of that sort "in the name" of a lack of any belief.

And to everyone that keeps trying to fuel the "RELIGION VS ATHEISM, ROUND 937" argument, you're missing the point. Put your atheist (or religious) hate flags away, I'm not here to convert you. Everything I said applies to any belief (or lack thereof, which is why I mentioned the "halfway intelligent atheists have to do this and that to be credible" thing). Unless that's not directed at me, in which case, argue all you like <_<

Way to ruin a potentially fun thread.

If you truly didn't care about what other people thought, then you'd let them think whatever they want without fucking posting your contradicting opinions.

But if we truly didn't care what other people thought, we wouldn't come here to read about it in the first place.

I do. But it doesn't have anything to do with religion (not in the "I'm right, you're wrong and going to hell for it" sense anyways), it has to do with credibility.

And with any luck we'll soon get to see the scientology response to this, which should bring a whole new level of fun

Another statement of war by Anonymous:

    http://chanology.blogspot.com/2008/01/why-we-fight.html

    Why we fight

Friends, ebaums, Countrymen, lend me your ears. This is why we fight.

Gentlemen, This is what I have been waiting for. Habbo, Fox, The G4 Newfag Flood crisis. Those were all training scenarios. This is what we have been waiting for. This is a battle for justice. Every time ebaums has gone to war, it has been for our own causes. Now, gentlemen, we are going to fight for something that is right. I say damn those of us who advise against this fight. I say damn those of us who say this is foolish. The time has come not for us to not only rise as heroes of the internets, but as its guardians.

With the leakage of 'The Church of Scientology's' latest propaganda video into mainstream circulation, the extent of Scientology's malign influence over those who come to trust them as leaders has been made clear to us. Anonymous has therefore decided that this organization should be destroyed. For the good of their followers, for the good of mankind and for our own enjoyment, we shall proceed to expel them from the Internet and systematically dismantle the Church of Scientology in its present form. We recognize the 'church' as serious opponents, and do not expect our campaign to be completed in a short time-frame. However, they will not prevail forever against the angry masses of the body politic. Their choice of methods, hypocrisy and the general artlessness of their organization have sounded their death knell. Scientolgy have nowhere to hide, because we are everywhere. Scientolgy will find no recourse in attack, because for each of us that falls, ten more will take his place.

Scientolgy, we are waging war against you. A war unlike any war we have experienced before. A war that shall not only be known for one against faggotry but for one against uberfaggotry. A war that shall make you think twice before interfering with the tubes. A war that shall leave the name anonymous charred with respect and glory. A war that perhaps one day will be remembered as the greatest thing we have ever done.

We call everyone from the internet. Let the differences between us be ignored as we fight against a common enemy. And as we have epic lulz too.

    Knowledge is free.

    We are Anonymous.
    We are Legion.
    We are Ebaums.
    We do not forgive.
    We do not forget.

    Re: 4chan vs. Scientology

    found this on http://partyvan.info/index.php/Project_Chanology.

"It is quite similar to the sponge in the toilet trick except much more vicious. What you need is:

    1. A Large box of the shittiest tea you can find (100 tea bags at least)
    2. Lots of yeast
    3. Lots of sugar

Empty each tea bag of its contents, then fill it 2/3 sugar and the rest with yeast. Make like a huge pile of them so you can be sure you won't run out. Also, make sure to staple together the top of the tea bags so they are sealed closed.

Now for the fun part: Find a scientology church business or HQ. Visit each bathroom and flush 5-10 baggies down the toilet.

PROTIP: Do not let them find your identity. Stay away from the people as many as possible.

The entire sewer system will be infested with colonies of fermenting yeast and as a result feces will be oozing all over the place — out of every toilet, sink, shower drain, and anything else connected to the sewers.

PS: For even more cruelty, throw in some thick rubber gloves filled halfway with the same mixture plus water. Flush them down along with everything else (you might have to down size them a bit). Many people will be wondering what is bursting inside their walls... until s%#t comes oozing out everywhere and there is not a single spared pipe in the building"

how does this work? wouldnt the bags just get flushed in to the waste managment place.

    DDoS Protection: Prolexic

Scientology.org uses DDoS protection from Prolexic [1] We will first try to convince them to stop helping the murder cult [2]. If that does not work, we will spam, flood and inform their customers about Prolexics evil connections.
Hmmm...can't wait to see what happens with this company: Assuming that the company will stick with Scientology since their bank account is larger than xbox. http://digg.com/odd_stuff/ANON_release_ ... secret_DOX
