For those besides me who might be interested and not know, Torchwood Season 2 premiered last week. Torchwood is a Doctor Who spin-off series, in somewhat the same vein. Premier featured James Marsters (Spike, on Buffy/Angel). Airs on Wednesdays in the UK. Figured the Buffy fangirls might wanna know since Spike gets it on with another man >_>

Can't answer that, but Torchwood is definitely worth a watch, John Barrowman is so camp/butch that even I question my sexuality now and then.

I haven't watched Torchwood yet. I'll hopefully catch it on the BBC iPlayer website. Sucks not having a TV.

Theres one episode up at the moment. I'm guessing its the first episode of series 2. Is it on every Wednesday? The trailer for the next one looked pretty good (and it has Freema Agyeman in it:D).

I still perfer David Tennant to John Barrowman though.

I used to think Torchwood was a cheezy show, the way it was advertised here was as if they were forcing us to think it's the next best thing instead of deciding for ourselves, which unfortunately turned many people off it.

I gave it a chance and liked it, a lot of people here didn't though so now it's at some kooky midnight timeslot where nobody is alive.

I am not sure if the next episode has Martha in it, I would think that'd be later in the season. At the end of the first episode, they showed snippets from many of the upcoming episodes that would be in this season, at least one of which does have Martha in it. Kind of like at the end of the Doctor Who Xmas Specials, it has previews from all future episodes for that season.

As for new Doctor Who: I'm pretty sure it'll be like last season, and start within 1-3 weeks or so of the end of Torchwood Season 2 (which is 12 or 13 episodes in length), i'll look to see if there's an exact date, I seem to have misplaced my Outpost Gallifrey password, so I can't check the forums at the moment. I'm pretty psyched for it, since I really liked Donna.

And :O I can never convince my LS aussies to watch Who or Torchwood :/ I wouldn't say Torchwood is THE BEST SHOW EVER, but it's pretty enjoyable, I find myself waiting for the download each week, just not so bad as when i'm waiting for Who

I had this problem, despite all the reviews and hearing on here, I watched EP1, and just saw so many of the commercials and just /eh

The advertising was so bad it actually made me make up my mind on the show on that alone, now I need to torrent the shit, god dammit.

Sounds like they're advertising it poorly everywhere except the UK.

Adverts should say, "The effects aren't great, the scripts aren't amazing, the acting won't win Oscars, but show up and we'll have fun adventures!"

Just watched the latest episode, and I thought the funniest part was spike making out with cap'n Jack, however it still won't really grab my attention like Who does. Hell, I even like Jack's character better on Who than Torchwood for some reason.

What I'm really looking forward to is the fact that Rose Tyler is scheduled for a few episode of NuWho, and I reallllly wanna see where they go with that.

Well from the way it was advertised in the UK I didn't actually realise Captain Jack was in it and just thought it would be a crappy spin off of Dr Who. Only watched it for the first time after seeing this thread and thought it as alright.

I think Jack is better in Who, he's more... I don't know, able to be himself? In Torchwood he's Mr. Boss With a Secret Past And Heavy Burden. In Who he's just helpful and funny as all fuck, while being bad ass.

As for the Rose Tyler episode later this season Who: It's not just Rose, afaik~ It's Rose, Martha, Donna -and- Sarah-Jane. It's supposed to be the "Doctor lite" episode of this season. i.e: Episode with very little Doctor, seeing as they have some insane vigorous shooting schedule. The 2nd year had "Love & Monsters", which was really mediocore at best, but entertaining. The 3rd year had the absolutely fanfuckingtastic "Blink" with Sally Sparrow and the weeping angels.

I don't know how they're going to fit Rose in this, at all, but after showing they could put Dr. #5 with #10 and have it make sense, I have faith it'll work out. And of course, Davros too, it seems. Gdi, I can't wait >_<

I'm rewatching some season 1 EP, and I'm remembering all the Bad Wolf business, but I don't ever remember it being properly explained, was it and I missed it or is it all coming around in the future having to do with the Doctors past / adversary / etc?

Bad Wolf was the name of the broadcast station that kidnapped the Doctor, Rose, and Jack. When the Doctor sent Rose back to her regular time, when Rose saw the phrase "Bad Wolf" she decided that she had to try to save the Doctor, and eventually opened the heart of the TARDIS absorbing the time vortex. While she had the power of the time vortex she scattered references to "Bad Wolf" through time and space to lead her self back to saving the Doctor.
