    Re: Opinions for Job Adjustments

Did I make some big post on race changes and why it was stupid and it get deleted?

Or did I just get logged out while making my post and had the whole thing erased in IE again from this worthless tablet, and not feel like typing it out?

Meh, I don't remember. It was a good post too. =/

Hell i thought alot of SEs 'popular demand' things were retarded, but in their great wisdom SE opened up swapping servers so whats the huge stretch to a one-time race change. Its not like you cant mask yourself well if your an ass in the game and hop servers while keeping on the DL.

Or they could just embrace something like wardrobe... but what are the chances of that? Its a silly superficial idea for changing race anyways... i was just stating a way it could be done. So much shit takes priority to this.

    Re: Opinions for Job Adjustments

I honestly dont see how a suggestion regarding a popular demand is "zam meterial" considering its not out of the question or obviously retarded. It would be quite simple for the protocol to do the race change, force player to drop all RSE items where SE could just implement some form of scanning tool or some bullshit like GMs use to check inventory, thus seeing if any RSE items are on the character, if they are the change wont be allowed, if not then it will be completed. About quests they could just reset them to allow the player to do them again on the appropriate race, again its just a couple things they switch around in the files of SEs wonderland. Who gives a shit about .dat swapping? I'm more concerned with making my Hume BLM a Taru BLM because I want the fucking 8 INT difference tyvm. On the topic of people masking their true origins how the hell are you going to know the difference between D.Ring/Aegis/Excal Hume IGE'd PLD versus a D.Ring/Aegis/Excal Taru IGE'd PLD? You seriously wont so that is just a null point because the person would obviously change servers and or names and if you would put the work into finding out who the person is just for your gratification you're playing this game for the wrong reason. My suggestion was purely for self completetion because I'm a stat whore

The idea is obviously not something people would like to see over more desperate issues that need fixing... especially at SEs pace of changing things (2-3 huge updates/year)

Race Changing gets filed in with being able to levitate on BLM, riding on a wyvern as a DRG and being able to jump/swim.

    Re: Opinions for Job Adjustments

I dont see it as a completely retarded suggestion regarding a worthwhile update. Some people are suggesting stupid job changes such as BLMs getting more spells or SAM new JAs or what have you that would completely be out of the question. However this would not break game mechanics nor would it be overly strenuous for SE developers to program, and thus I believe it is a good idea to suggest to SE. If you (BRP) have any logical reasoning behind this not being plausable other than quick whitted remarks such as "Go back to Zam" or "I stopped reading there" which has been overplayed by quite too many people, and I am honestly dissapointed in someone with a power level of over NINE THOUSEND to be posting such mindless derailing babble. As I said help convince me and others of why this is not a good idea and I'd gladly retract my idea if there is something found that this change would greatly favor one group of people over another or that it would somehow break game mechanics in some unseen way.

    Love the Zam guy.

BLM in my opinion is perfectly fine as it is, it is still the #1 magic DD in game and why improve it from there? I'm not sure what magic you'd like but its a good soloer the only aspect it doesn't have is curing abilities and thats what you have SCH for.

    Re: Opinions for Job Adjustments

This isnt a solo game, generally if your forced into soloing then something is wrong with the games tried and true party mechanics. Soloing is great, but to play completely solo means something is broken and desperately needs to be updated. Post 50 your soloing or manaburning - losing out on oppertunities to gain valuable party skills like learning to maintain hate, capping out skills and working as a team.

Why improve BLM? Same could be said about upgrading SAM and the other jobs SE loves to shower with useless sidegrades.

    Re: Opinions for Job Adjustments

Holy shit, People are still complaining over not getting invites on blm? I thought we already accepted the fact that Soloing for xp is something we're going to have to live with? I honestly think Blm is one of the most balanced jobs in the game.

as for the whole notion of this isnt a solo game. While I agree the game was meant to be played in a party/alliance environment SE themselves acknowledged that there are people that they want to cater too that enjoy/prefer Soloing. I could be mistaken but i believed they said they wanted Pup to be a solo job as well didnt they? as for me personally I love the fact that i can merit anytime i want to just soloing instead of the 30 Meles 2 rdms seeking in whitegate with their thumb up their ass staring at the ah. So until SE decides to let us call 5 Npc's with our signal pearl theres really isnt anything SE can do without totally fucking breaking the job.

And what part of "making a job solo better" that's been suggested in this thread yet does not potentially break things for the job in other situations? Or, has even at all been mentioned in this thread? We've said crap about BST, and of course PUP is useful in a lot more than solo situations, but seriously we haven't even really talked about it yet. Don't know why you're getting your panties all in a twist.

I'm *pretty* sure I wasn't referring to your specific ideas about S/Jing and such, you were more interested in some other thing that involved healing skill and the lack of it mattering and WHM being too specified, yes? (If not I'm sorry, but this topic needs cliff notes with all the various opinions being thrown around). I did not care what specifically happened to skill on /WHM vs other subs because that would not affect RDM or SCH in the slightest (the only two jobs really holding a candle to WHM in exp/merits, although SMN can get by), and -Nas either work or they don't so there's nothing to halve. I don't really know what your particular suggestions to this were (or if you had a point to it all or were just pointing out a flaw) but I suppose it doesn't particularly matter to me.

I'd kind of like Hundred Fists to give a Counterstance-like increase in counters without the ~16 DEF side effect. (It shouldn't stack w/ Counterstance, obviously.)

You mean COMPLETELY breaking the move? I'm for that.

The entire point of most 2Hs is that there is little to no compensation for the ass-load of hate you're about to accumulate. Giving HF a built-in Counterstance effect with no downside would be making it the only Super Ability that has ungodly effective offense and defense in the same package. Even Soul-Weapon only heals the damage it DOES, not the damage it might take from doing all that...damage.

Um, no. The fact of the matter is being so tied to party play has always been part of what keeps FFXI from being more successful. Every other Mumorphurger has effective solo play for every job, even the weaker ones, like the healing jobs. Enforcing PT play, as SE has, not only forces you to deal with people you'd otherwise avoid like a loud drunk girl at a bar who smells oddly of capers and fish rot, but all progress depends on the schedules, abilities, and whims of other people, whether you like them or not. That seems like a system that's inherently broken, if you ask me, but you didn't, but I'm telling you, so fuck off.

I admit I begrudged BLM's great solo ability, but then WotG came along. While I realized that a good BLM could duo or even solo much better exp/h, I had finally got what I wanted out of the game, effective exp gain without a PT and the ability to do what I wanted when I wanted. Even better, it created the ideal online situation: being able to work with other people (the entire point of being online) while not being forced to deal with them on a personal level (the entire point of being online.)

I hope that was a sarcastic 'I'm for that', really, so we can at least agree for once on something. But with your posts, I really can't tell anymore since you seem to want to break way too many things in general.

Um... So like, you never knew about killing pets for XP either? Dude, I leveled so many jobs off of pets, and there is a very short period of time where you're forced to party instead (and unfortunately those levels suck for XPing anyway).

Of course, certain jobs aren't capable of doing it (lulzwhm) but most can and do it really well. I'd do on average 7-8k/hr while doing pet solos at lower levels and even capped out at about 14k(maybe a little higher)/hr doing the mamool wyvern pets solo (no PL, but lol BLU and PLD) at the exit to colibri from Nyzul. It's a great spot to work at from ~69-73, all you have to do to repop the wyverns is zone the DRGs. Just gotta have a Salvage Permit or be Captain rank.

The word is 'facetious', but whatever.

God knows melees are insanely easy to solo compared to mages from 1-20+ (I have a friend who dual box PL'd his MNK damn near to 30), but it's around the end of that where it becomes less viable for melee and more viable for mages. Also, what pets tend to have in defensive weakness, they lack in numbers. At any rate, what I was saying wasn't that other jobs can't solo, it's that BLM tends to do it much better, easier, or both (I've personally watched a BLM 1-shot pet bats in newton, though I can't remember what level he was and god knows they do campa & flan, the former seemingly less potent, but still solid) while other jobs are limited to pets or the really squishy mobs (e.g. BLU on Imps.) Anyway, the point of the post was that I stopped caring, since Campaign pretty much makes up for it, though I still believe as long as they have that, they really can't complain about not getting as many 'normal PTs.'

that's around lv57-61 when you'd exp there, and those bats have 1000-1100 hp, any self resepcting melee should be able to deal that much damage to one of those bats before the bat could kill them.

Yeah blms have it good from 51-63ish with the AM one shotting pets, but getting to 51 is a struggle at times, and honest I had alot easier time soloing pets on my thf pre 51 then my blm did. Sneak Attack just wrecks the crap out of pets.

    Re: Opinions for Job Adjustments

Don't pull the 'leveling up is hard' horseshit, it's hard for everyone except for Bards. Again, the point isn't that melees can't solo, it's that BLMs have it easier, which you didn't deny, so you're just paying lip-service.

Further, you're going on about killing pets as if it were a viable form of exp for everyone. Fact is there aren't always safe camps for it, or enough mobs that have pets in a given room, especially not for more than a few people, and they can be difficult to pull without drawing the master or any potential linking mobs. The main reason BLM have it easy here is because they can drop one heavy nuke at long range, and if it's enough to 1-shot it, even if the master's looking at it or a linking mob is nearby, it wont link, because it wouldn't have had the time to. The game's worked like this for ages, if you kill a mob in one hit (or one attack round, iirc), nothing will link.
