I'm sorry, is there some other amazing benefit to meleeing with a trailer's kukri that you'd like to share?Originally Posted by JoOeetheplatypuS
Or did your word filter catch the string "DPS" and set off a series of alarms in your browser?
It does when you're talking about weapons that don't offer up any other stats for melee benefit. As a cor, you are only meleeing for tp, the only things that really matter in that case is tp gain, and to a lesser extent melee dot(which joy is not that bad for on birds). DWing trailer's kukri is only lowering both of those.Originally Posted by JoOeetheplatypuS
In before this devolves into the justification that 14racc makes up for the lack of /RNG or WAR, because this is exactly what the justification is headed for.Originally Posted by fantasticdan
Quite the ridiculous justification that would be, given that the only time the RACC on archer's/hawker's/trailer's pulls its weight is if you are, you know, actually shooting. Given that this is in express contradiction to Genosync's stated strategy, there is no point whatsoever to equipping a trailer's.Originally Posted by ronin sparthos

wut? dps means alot especially if exp/hr means somthing too, right. ws and shot thingies probably do more dot but to disregard dps would just sound dumb to me.Originally Posted by JoOeetheplatypuS
and skadi pants are not that amazing, i mean yay for getting .7 tp(is it?) more each hit and hitting 2% faster,i just dont see why you keep shoving skadi pants in peoples faces like they make you a god. grats getting lucky and having a frog drop them, other people are like 0/20+(very unlucky extreme end) on even getting a drop from a frog let alone one they want. I think every other peice of skadi gear would help a bit more in dmg then pants(talking cor here). I could see someone wearing dusk pants +1 and dropping /nin for /rng /war , gaining more racc and some atk for their joytoy(omgz no trailers!1)
dont see why a cor/war or /rng would have to hold tp either, other DDs will be close to WS/killing mob shortly after if you open with slug, and not like they would have to chase it very far. Pecking Flurry 1shots taru corsairs! or your support and other DDs sucked ass when you tried it out(once?)
Between all the ins and out of a COR, maintaining rolls (3-4 at that) and keeping links under control (if your bard is busy or your competing for pulls) you arent going to become this 'omg MPsink' on birds in the slightest. They are already weak, if the mob happens to turn your way and slap you once, its nothing the 'fulltime' DD cant take off you and finish off.
The most danger you might get vs Colibri on COR is after a Slug Shot w/zerk on getting Pecking Flurried - your more likely to just get your food snatched before the bird combusts or turns to your other DDs.
Yes they accept it now.Originally Posted by BRP
But the 2 nerfs they applied to utsu certainly made it clear at first that they were adament on removing NIN from the tanking scene. So I guess I'm on edge. Tanks are hard to find as it is.
Thats the typical knee-jerk reaction SE has to something unexpected, it worked out in players favors when tank gear for NIN started to show and WAR tanking started to decline.
Wrong. They weren't trying to remove it at all, they understood NIN was a tank, PLD was a tank, however NIN were tanking everything better than PLD, so instead of buffing PLD (which was the brainchild of ToaU), they nerfed NIN a few times. As they saw, nothing special came out of nerfing NIN so they buffed the hell out of PLD and made it a super tank which was much needed. Both tanks now I'd say are fine in their own ways of tanking.Originally Posted by terranova
Not really a job adjustment suggestion, but a suggestion none the less:
So cooking has sushi preparation, noodle expertise, patissier and the advent of cheese sandwiches and pizza has brought 'mainstream' food into the fold so why expand on th huge craze that is coffee? Im sure enough players drink coffee that the gesture would be welcoming.
Make it a key item for cooks, a whole line based on the various coffees from around the world. Wonderful oppertunity to finally add a line of haste/(ranged haste) food (2%-5% haste or flurry, counting towards the haste cap), expand on the hMP/hHP aspect as well that Imperial Coffee started along with wiggle room for things like small avatar purp down or stuff like MAB/MDB+. So one could consider it something along the lines of general food that melee and mages could both utilize. (kinda like how coffee is IRL....)
It would add a 3rd choice to most melees plates, haste (coffee) accuracy (sushi) or attack (meat), fill the deficit slightly for ranged jobs and have room for stuff like small MAB/MDB+ wrapped around stuff like 15hp/mp+ and of course Resist Sleep.
Someone mentioned 3min duration coffee shots as well (obviously stacking to 99).
then you have the 100th cup and.................Originally Posted by ronin sparthos

100 cups of the finest coffee > 144 squid sushi >.>;
Make it an espresso Haste +5% 3 min duration
Make it count towards Magic Haste, not gear haste, and count me as a supporter of this idea.
Or it could be its own separate "food haste"?Originally Posted by Max™

A food that reduces ranged delay, with very minor ranged accuracy and attack that lowers melee accuracy and attack and causes slight melee delay increase (note: NOT Slow). I don't know if I'd do coffee for that, but should be a 30min/1hrHQ food for that. It'd actually be pretty damn balanced, and even though I think Ranger doesn't need anything (as previously argued), this is genius. Shit. I wish I thought of it first. lol
Coffee shots--make them seperate from a normal food status. Don't ever make them too powerful. Stack to 99. People would be less likely to use these than food because they are 3min recast, and they have to give up massive ACC or ATK to use them. So we make them usable even when food is used. However, shots should not be stacked with themselves. To prevent stacking shots, it should be kept in its own enhancement slot (like food). Haste should count towards Magic Haste side of the cap, of course, since it is an effect rather than gear.
Ideas for shots:
Haste +% (shouldn't be higher than 5%, ever)
Delay -% (higher effects than Haste but not much, for giving up the benefit to recast timers, maybe make it 7-8%)
Crit +% (+15-20% seems decent after some thought, but make it expensive)
Magic Attack Bonus %+ (can't make it too high; anything over 5-6% is asking for too much and breaks things further but mages would still use these)
Magic Accuracy +% (ok, why +% Geno? Because at lower levels a flat MACC bonus would break things, and Staves are the only other item in the game shown to increase MACC by a % bonus instead of flat number. Give this like 5-6% as well. I'd fucking abuse this drink if I still played)
Ranged Delay %- (can stack with the food idea above, no more than 7-8% just like the melee counterpart)
Evasion +% (same thing, not making these % bonuses breaks lower levels. would have to be careful with this because of THF eva, and make it not add % after gear bonuses to evasion, make it only be % before.)
Magic Defense %+ (duhhhhh)
Stupid pet bullshit %+ (idkkkkkkkkkkk)
LOTS of things currently unaffected by foods and equipment %+ (#"*9215*)#@!*)%!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)
Avatar Perpetuation time- (this is tricky because it would really need to be based upon the level of the summoner (!) to ramp up to a decent amount. I'd want a 75SMN to get slightly more benefits out of it than a 1SMN, for instance. you can't make it too much, however, and giving it -3mp/tick perpetuation does make some of the high tier gear semi-obsolete, or the conditions of them anyway. so this is a very tricky subject. I'd say make it -1mp/tick pre-55, -2mp/tick 55+, no HQ available)
all of these %+ shots should be applied before equipment and other effects. not doing so could create balance issues easily given SE's ability to fuck everything up.
no ACC, no ATK, those should be kept to their normal food items. coffee shots should not stack with drinks and should not have high durations (unlike real coffee, <3, but 3min game time sounds good). No direct stat value bonuses (STR, DEX, etc). the only 'normal' stat affected by food that never gets enough food bonus, to me anyway, seems to be evasion, so that's why I put it in there.
keep juices and drinks still as regen and refresh slots, those should stack with this too, of course.
the coffee shot idea is the most amazing thing to come out of this thread and is fek@#%*#@*)%R*)#@MD)(QME#WAVC$#)(QFCE omg.
A. gives benefits to stats that currently are hard to find gear for or don't exist.
B. doesn't destroy balance.
C. doesn't alter the roles/tasks/purpose of jobs
D. creates extra market for sales
E. will create market for more crafting items (don't make these all NPC buyable! please!)
F. #@"&*%)*@#)%*@#*%)*@#%$)(@#%_*$#")T^@TFER*C)"43@QF W)ECSA amazing
Sounds like a new job to me. Like a Starbucks/Jamba Juice hybrid.
edit: Didn't think about COR, was out drinking after a concert last night, so yeah.
Shots.
