I don't want to really start a huge argument or anything, but a friend of mine goes RDM/DNC for merit parties at the bird camp and it's worked out pretty well thus far. He goes in a haste build, uses Joytoy to build TP, keeps everyone hasted, and doesn't require ballad from the BRD. Of course, not everyone can pull it off and it's not doable at all camps or party setups (but as we know, SiS in FFXI), but assuming the person doesn't suck it won't negatively impact your EXP.

Of course, most do suck. :)

Balan's Sword, Unyielding Ring, Jelly Ring, Bushido Cape, Adaman feet.... yeah. I honestly don't know what this was, because there were about 6-7 different pearl-colors attacking it. But, they held it for a good 30 minutes until an army of BLMs came and killed it (nuking with zenith crown and relic body, nonetheless).

Other than the rings I really don't see anything wrong with that gear. The gimp sj is kinda sad for someone with a Dalm but maybe this guy was the anti-Kerberoz and thought WHM was the end all be all sub for BLM and refused to level RDM. Maybe he's seen the error of his ways. It could happen, right?

TBH if it's JP it's likely to happen, one thing I've learned is that the JPs do love their /whms, not that it's a bad thing but it's like the only sub that's amazing for every situation =/

What exactly would be wrong in a party with no bard (or COR) and a RDM/DNC? 3mp/tick refresh and a ten minute convert timer will not last forever. Shit is situational, and it'd work on birds. Besides, it's not like he's trying for damage anyway.

PS: I have full sword merits for BLU and a Joyeuse, so *I* can see it making sense with my gear. YMMV.

pt was PLD SMN RDM THF DRK something (melee.. almost wanna say SAM). He'd only haste himself and wouldn't refresh me(PLD) or the SMN unless we asked him a couple times. He'd just engage, do a Samba, then presumably afk. When we got links, he wouldn't sleep them.

I wasn't saying RDM/DNC is gimp, heck, on birds it'd probably be better than /WHM or /BLM. But when an idiot is behind the wheel, any job combo sucks.
