Omega may not be but Dynamis, for example, is a HUGE timesink. Also, keep in mind, that you'll be competing against others for Homam gear, so I doubt you'll get your full homam set very soon >_>

My own limbus group does Omega or Ultima every week. We low man all of our runs and split the currency for the 4 runs when we all go. Usually an RDM and 3 BLMs for Kings run and then a low man pt of 6 players for the others. For Omega.

We have to usually 11 or so people for Temnos Kings because of the bosses at the end but overall it's not so much as a timesink as it used to be. Just have to get people who know how to run the zone.

For some reason, noob PLDs like to gear for PLD/WAR when /NIN. It was pretty common on shiva.

It's common as fuck on Fairy also. I never got the whole idea behind any PLD blink tanking with VIT and HP gear on but no haste. Yeah when timers are down I can see macroing into that for more defense but otherwise...I don't get it...

I find the fact that you think gathering 2mil+(Bismarck prices) (Didn't even factor coral gear in, I also didn't even look up prices on any item you didn't list... then the fact that I looked at NQ Hades Earrings, HQ would have doubled this figure) worth of gear, camping a 21hr pop NM before doing any endgame to be 'minimal effort' lolable.

Melee have to spend that much, why shouldn't PLDs?

Drop the Hades and the price goes down considerably.

I got an invite for a merit party on birds. Party setup was warx2 thf mnk(me) brdx2. He said the brd would heal. I said to myself, lose haste but gain a DD? I tried it. Failed horribly. The healing bard was doing ballad on the whole party. So I just swapped to rdm. Then I noticed the gear of the thf...

Those are bower ring and venerer ring with misericorde x2 I believe. No equip swap.

Then after a while, the thf noticed that one of the bard sucked (we kept bitching about him for 30+ minutes). Anyway, he got a COR. I said to myself that a cor would bump up the damage with rolls and range attacks. The brd was doing basically nothing before so nothing bad can come out of it. Well I was almost wrong. He did help bring the xp/h slightly up... with xp roll. That's the only thing he did tho.

Yes, you saw it, cor that does only XP roll and no gun. And I almost forgot to mention, 1 of the war was skilling up polearm (deadalus). I left shortly after.

tl;dr
got gimp party, here are the equips. thf didn't swap gear, cor only did xp roll. shit sucked, specially with war skilling polearm. I cried and left.

So exactly how long do people actually stay in these pt's with these douches..err gimps? I had a merit invite yesterday on Rdm, from a Pld. Reluctantly accepted, Pld(full tanking set)/Whm (I made up my mind after seeing this)/Drg/Sam/Mnk (subbed Dnc, never cured)

The Mnk in this case happened to be sporting full Arhats, WW Belt, Ruby x2, Fishing pole (w/lure!) and some other assorted bullshit. I sent a tell to the Paladin telling him I wasn't xp'ing with this douche, got no response. After failing to break chain 5, I alt+tabbed and went to sleep.
I guess I have a low tolerance, but do people even bother getting/asking rid of these leeches?

Simple rule: don't accept invites to be a replacement unless you know who is inviting you, and what you're going out to find, if you're going to merit with non-LS/Friends anyway.

At least when it's forming in town you can go "oh wtf guys, is this seriously what we're going to merit with? Yeah, I'm gonna go try to climb walls in Al Zahbi, it seems like a more productive use of my time."
