    Re: Bird camp.

This is why you don't bother with bird camp.

Just fucking merit off the mamools on the platform before it, it's probably like 1-2k/hour less at worst, and nobody's dumb enough to fuck with a mamool killing party.

I mean, if a party's good enough to handle all the mamool spawning on top of them, then they'd be smart enough to just move on when they see nyzul mamool taken.

If they're filled with clueless tards, just ease up on your party's pace and watch them being murdered by those lizards.

    ...Yea ok bad karma.

Actually, I want a smn-able pixie in WotG areas like my NPC CureVbombSlave in original areas. Hrmph.

About the OP... I'm going to take a guess and say this was probably at the camp on the lowest level. Since people are way too lazy to read seacoms or send scouts out to camps before having the group leave whitegate, when you get to Nyzul and see the top 2 taken... well there's only 1 direction to go there. That camp is the sort of place where there's alllllmost room for 2 decent PTs, but just a tad short. Kind of like how mamool op can 'almost' hold 4 PTs if people are willing to kill everything and won't be sissies refusing to pull wyverns. If they'd add even like 3-4 mobs to either spot you could up the max saturation of "hardcore" PTs by 2.

Actually, you don't really even need to scout or look at seacoms to see if you can exp/merit in thickets. So megashame on people who go out anyway, even if you're too lazy to look/read/scout. ...Anyone reading things here would totally know this already though, right?
    /sea All " Bh[tab-look-enter]" 70-
If there are 8 or more PT leaders, fair assumption it's overcamped. Certainly if there are 7+ 75s... 6 doubleSupport PTs can cover it all. If some are 'normal' exp PTs you could sneak in a few more without being overly rude to them. Evenso, I'll always have someone scout to make sure something isn't overcamped and something else left open.

Obvious conclusion (since /rant was on, I'm sure you knew this already though): People are inherently rude bastards and a certain % will not give a damn if they camp on you. When this happens to me, I refuse to give in and will often do potentially stupid things to hold my camp. ex: 2nd PT comes to the bottom Nyzul Isle camp will probably camp the Halvung zone... just stand farther in front of them in the opening and you should get more pulls.

Reminder to people who camp on others-- very few (if any) people have /say on Hold, so there's no way in hell they're noticing all the insanely rude crap they could theoretically call a GM for in the middle of all their battle spam. Well, the GMs don't care and are going to laugh at us for it, but most of you won't call the bluff!

    Re: Bird camp.

People don't read sea coms period, sometimes in the AM hours when i'm bored and there is no one on in my LS i'll actually throw up my flag on war and i'll put in "No brd= no party, tp burn only". I will get retards that try to invite me to their 5 melee/rdm party and go emo saying exp is exp when I turn them down.

I remember a few months ago some really gimp merit party that had a rdm puller(lol) tried to camp ontop of my party at the north mamool camp which resulted in them wiping several times trying to keep pace with us when 3/6 people of my party all had north mamool camp taken in their sea coms.

Whats wrong with RDM pulling =>.>= =<.<= =>.>=

But yea I never understood the logic of camping on top of another party. It takes less time to /sea <area> /t Leader {Camp} {Position} then to spend IS, walk to a camp and see if its pull. over 80% of the time the leaders are nice and respond back. Sometimes they are nice and chit-chat about the surrounding camps too.

    Re: Bird camp.

First thing I do when I get in a PUG and the leader mentions "nyzul birds" is I /sea the area, then send a tell to all the leaders asking if they're in bird camp. Since it's like the most popular spot, it's almost always full (4 or more pt on birds almost all the time.) I inform the pt leader, who invariably never bothers to do check, that the camp is full and we should go somewhere else. I learned my lesson long ago that if I don't do this I'll wind up annoyed showing up to a camp that's packed to the gills, and the only way out is using a charge on something or a scroll.

Guilty as charged . I actually did this yesterday to a bunch of people around lv42, after inviting them I just said "Crawler's Nest" before checking out the area. Safe to say we all wasted a good 20 minutes walking there and finding out the place was packed. Quite embarressed I went to /sea the other exp spots I could remember and found there were 0 parties in Western Altepa Desert, went there and had a great time though . If only I did that before heading out I couldve had a good extra 2-3k exp

    Re: Bird camp.

I have the absolute best BRD's you can imagine so if someone does this to us, we easily hold anything that pops and continue on, maybe losing a chain but not dropping the overall xp too hard, and if there's a PUG with shitty players or jobs or basically, wasting the camp we want, we'll go in and force them out by the same logic.

Blah, I ruined your night, whatever. I pay 12.99 for my character and I care about myself and my friends not your PLD and his PUP buddy.

IMO, people should never even consider that camp unless they have two BRDs.

And if you do, you shouldn't complain when some 2BRD, 3x Ridill WAR party comes in swinging their dick around and pushes your gimp party out.

    Re: Bird camp.

I know poor game design shouldn't excuse someone for being an asshole, but people shouldn't let square off the hook. They could easily make things like this not be an issue that would come up very often if at all.

More camps to support good merit parties:
They could and should have easily added some decent camps in WoTG; and no campaign doesn't get you 25-30k/hr. There is room for about 6 ideal merit pts in game at a time before things get too crowded. I'd say there is room for 3 ideal parties in mamool ja and room for 3 ideal parties in nyzul isle. All other places seem to be about 10k/hr less with the same ideal setup. (mire, mamook, uleguerand, monkburn KRT)

Faster respawns so it wouldn't matter so much if someone camps on top of you:
Spawns were more plentiful the first day of the TBC expansion in WoW when everyone was the same level (60) than your random merit party in ffxi at least on bahamut.

Renovation of old camps by adding a sigil/sanction effect to signet:
It would help spread parties out.

Re-arranging mobs to replace areas that are never used with merit mobs:
They did it with Bibiki Bay a few years back for parties between 65 and 70. There's a lot of mobs nobody ever touches in the southwest part of wajoam.

lol @ "need" 2 BRD, replace 2nd brd with a cor, or do 4 pimp DD cor rdm, and you'll see the fastest bird exp period.

    Re: Bird camp.

I think the solution is obvious and coming.

    Oztroja, Beaudeux, Ghelsba/Davoi [S].

Logically, since the near-entry mobs are VTish, deeper in we'll be seeing IT, IT+, IT++ mobs.

Problem solved, hurry up with the update already.

    Re: Bird camp.

Its going to be a hard sell moving people away from what they know unless SE:

    -Gives Sigil an EXP Bonus
-Some kind of hub city is created in WoTG or area. (Walk of Echoes perhaps? I see it as like the FFXI version of the 'End of Time')
-EXP is caluclated differently in the Shadowreign (if Sigil doesnt get a bonus)
    -Shadowreign dungeons arent 16min repops
-Beastmen are mixed in with lesser monsters (Beastmen are usually harder than monsters of the same level, it'd take a camp with monsters and beastmen to be viable exp)
-Quick access to camps via Campaign Arbiters or 'End of Time' esque warps.

    Re: Bird camp.

Last time I tried to XP during a popular time, every camp was crowded, not just birds. The only places worth XPing are in ToAU areas, and they just don't support enough parties when you consider how many people are level 75 now adays. Think about it.

    - 3 parties at Nyzul Birds/Mamool
    - 3 Mamool Ja staging point
    - 3 parties (if that) at Caedarva
    - 2 parties at trolls

11 parties are the best we can hope for in terms of coverage without going to a shitty camp; not to mention the last ones mentioned are shitty compared to colibri. 2 camps in the game give vastly more XP than every other spot, are far less risky, and simply easier to party at. No status effects, your RDM doesn't have to enfeeble or dispel, people generally don't use food, and they don't hit very hard for their level. That is why Colibri is so camped at all times.

It's just amazing that SE did absolutely nothing to fix it with WotG.

    Re: Bird camp.

Looking at it from various angles, i simply cannot see how SE can match or 'top' Nyzul Colibri or Mamool Ja Staging anywhere if and when they make new WotG camps.

-You have an EXP bonus (fixable by adjusting it for Sigil)
-Place with little to no agressive monsters (capable via camp design)

....but how do you top Colibri being so weak unless you make a monster equally as weak and thus spreading the problem out even more? When Nyzul was still a vigin camp it at the least had Battle Bugards to stop or slow down the exp, with the replacement Wivres it became a free-for-all for anyone seeking merits/exp, something few other camps had ever employed.

-KRT has skeles that are agressive and multiple status effects
-Sky had agressive weapons that were spread out or cast magic
    -Bibiki had agressive goblins
-Uleguerand Range had a long walk through TS and deadly demons/taurus/eyes.
    -Hediva has Soulflayers

I just dont see how they can top a camp that has everything going for it with no drawbacks (colibri links are a fucking joke) especially with the 'back to reality' feeling WotG brings with it.

I like people who think they are leet because they merit on birds in the first place. To me that's like Mire+2.

    Re: Bird camp.

This has probably been posted already but I wanna give my 2 cents

When Im in a hot merit pt at birds and another pt shows up and camps on top of us (usually a PLD and SMN pt..) I always tell the pt Im going into "makesuretheyhavenobirds" mode and focus on getting any popped bird to bring back to where we're fighting and sleep, even if the songs on the melee wear for a little bit. Usually the other party will leave after a little bit and we can go back to fighting like regular. But then theres always that pt that will never leave even if they only have 1 bird every few min because two popped at once or something..

They could always change the spawns slightly once again.

Some Mamool Ja wandering around amidst the Wivres and Colibri and pulling gets a lot more interesting (read: shot to hell), especially if they were Hussar-type.

Alternatively, S-E figures out colibri are so fucking easy they end worth -less- than normal. Either way, the fact that people clean house there should indicate (in the sense that it's a gravy train due to derail) that it's only a source of contention because it's too good compared to anywhere else. At least Mamool Ja require some effort and have something resembling scary TP attacks thanks to Firespit.

I love my secret camp in arrapago reef. Every other camp out there will get better XP but getting 15k+ an hour and not having to worry about people camping on top of you. Everytime i check the zone there is always less then six people there. Only problem with the camp is its impossible to get a replacment there unless the replacment is a friend.

    Re: Bird camp.

I know they could change spawns, but imagine what people would do if the Colibri camp had mamool ja knights in it that agrroed constantly? (whine, bitch and moan.)

They could nerf it, but i know people would get very upset about it and complain it was for no reason. I just dont see how else they can even out camps besides doing that or giving the birds Wisecrack (lol).

Either way, the future of camps in the xpac depends on what SE does with the 2 merit spots that have become the endall for exp/merits. Nerf it too little, and nothing will change - nerf it too much and you'll have people bitching and crying all the way to the next 'vulnerable' camp.

Or they could make another camp similar to colibri in the sense that the mobs die damn well near instantly. Ive partied there many times on BRD, SAM, BLU and COR - its amazing, but i dont see how it can be topped ever unless you could 1shot mobs for full exp somewhere else.

Edit: Arrapago Reef? The only place i remember hearing for EXP there was behind Gates only open when the Lamia have the Astral Candy. Im assuming its a camp pretty deep in the reef.
