i was at the time of these events and still am in soulfire though i am not an original member of the linkshell.

here is the real story from my perspective. our linkshell had sackholders that didn't get along or see eye to eye over what the ls should be doing. it was a saturday, we had lots of ppl doing a sea run including myself. fafnir widow was close to being open. meara was like lets go camp fafnir. most of the ls was in sea and some of the ppl there didn't really like king camps for various reasons, some of them just didn't want to go cause we were already doing sea and had done kings all week. so some of the other sacks were like we not doing fafnir we doing sea. meara gets more fired up, some ppl start throwing gas on the fire, and then she got even more pissed and broke the shell. lots of shit was said by her and by others.

1 min i'm like hey ald i'm off from work for opening day gonna go espnzone and watch games, wanna go? next min my linkshell is broken. i remember /t meara she should have just logged off and been like fuck you guys blah blah blah cooled off and came back a few days later. i guess it was the straw that broke the camels back for both sides and i blame both sides. meara has certainly been provoked into doing some of the things she did including calling the gm on ls member, as well as breaking the LS sorta though i thought it was extream she was antagonized. I think they are just looking for a new start where they don't have to be in charge of anything. as far as players they are both good as well.

i can also tell you that many of the ppl who posted shit here about her not only have an axe to grind but also aren't saints themselves. we have ppl talking shit here who left SF days after lotting king abj, ppl who rmt gear cause they can't wait thier turn, ppl who like to cause shit to blow up more then it should, ppl who lotted gear they were asked to pass and then kicked for not doing so, ppl who were not even there nor a member of the LS what so ever...

and ansem if your not a drama queen then how come the 1st thing i saw when i warped back to whitegate after LS broke was you fag ass shouting meara broke Soulfire mear broek soulfire. shut your crack already

i think you could give them a chance they were cool ppl who just got too stressed running a shell, made a mistake and never recovered.

A Linkshell is only as good as its leader. If shes complaining that theres too many noobs then its her poor leadership skills, and her inability to manage a group, Pandora was a time bomb waiting to go off since its revival. You could of seen that coming from a mile away.

What's shocking to me is the number of people saying "So-and-so was provoked/antagonized/pushed into acting in [xxx] manner". You do understand as autonomous human beings no one can make you do anything, yes? If your response to people's actions is to act in a totally irrational manner, the space between "people's actions" and "your response" is your choice.

Not interested in the particulars of this situation, but this does highlight what I find to be the single greatest character flaw I've encountered in people. "They made me angry, so I hit them/broke LS/flipped out on vent. See? They MADE me angry, I'm not responsible for my actions, its THEIR fault." The instant you let others take responsibility for your choices is the instant you've forfeited your right to be considered a person.

One thing I can't seem to understand is the debate between the Sea and Fafnir thing. Believe me, if that was me as leader, I would have made y'all leave Sea to do Fafnir. Really, Sea will always be there, it won't move. You can schedule it everyone and get it done. But, Fafnir has windows and can pop first or last window, keeping him in your time or pushing it back to the JP/EU. Logic would tell you to camp the one that's can't wait for you. Not the one that'll always be there.

My LS' events are mandatory, some Sea events are canceled due to HNMs and our members are aware of that. In fact, they want us to camp it.

I don't think it was necessarily the fact they canceled sea or wanted them to leave sea to go to Fafnir, if I remember right, someone mentioned that sea kept on getting repeatedly canceled or put aside due to not enough members pop on. I think that was frustration speaking, "omg, we finally got enough peoples to do sea, and now we gotta leave?! I needs my shit from there too!"

If it was a consistent event and such, I would definitely agree - leave sea to go to Fafnir. But since it seems to be a major pain in the arse to get people to come to a scheduled sea event, and continuously canceling them, I can sympathize with the folks who wanted to stay in sea.


And I remember someone doing similar to what Meara did on our server - LS leader gets upset, jacks LS Bank and items, www's and levels his blacksmithing, and stuff like that. It's nothing new - happens all the time in FFXI. I don't agree with it or condone it, but nothing surprises me in FFXI anymore, you're always going to encounter the filth of the human race wherever you go, be it RL or FFXI.

and i think the other thing about the faf>sea fight is that SF was not a total HMN ls. they did everything endgame but HNM's were not their main focus unlike the other LS's like DL, Subvert, TSD, etc. They popped into camps here and there and so forth.

What Venetia said below was what I beleive it was. The only events that were mandatory in SF at the time of the incident were Kirin and JoL. So when 30 people show up to do Sea instead of going to Fafnir (and note, the members were at Fafnir for the previous 4 or 5 days I beleive), the sea leader isn't going to cancel sea to do Fafnir just because the shell holder and 3 other people want to (also if I remember, a vast majority of SF weren't fond of camping kings as it was).

So in this case the logic that you go by wouldn't have applied to a vast majority of SF. You know, different strokes for different folks. And as you can tell from your last sentence, your LS members want to camp kings, SF's members really didn't want to. So if you had an LS full of people who didn't like camping kings and you said "We have to go to Fafnir now, cancel sea!" how do you think they would react?

Sorry, just had to pipe up there because the reason you didn't see the issue with the Fafnir/Sea debacle was because you didn't know the background of the LS in question. Just wanted to make it clear so you wouldn't be scratching your head till the end of time as to why someone would chose going to sea over camping a king.
