Yeah I can't stand that shit.Originally Posted by Xavier

This game, I don't know how to describe it.
Graphically its kind of weird. It has a very distinct art style which works in its favor, but its obvious the graphics themselves aren't spectacular most of the time. It uses a washed out/motion blur effect to compensate a lot. Gameplay is pretty fun so far, and its definitely a violent game, lots of blood, lots of decapitating. The most amazing thing I would say is the presentation, the game is very "quirky", adult language, lots of jokes, and also lots of throw backs to 8-bit games with some of its icons/menus. By far the most adult game I've played on the Wii.
I'll say more about it later, but damn, this game has so much attitude, haha.
I just grab games at Best Buy or Target. If I'm going to give my money to a faceless corporation, then it might as well be one that leaves me alone for the most part.Originally Posted by MisterBob

halp, BG!
I'm getting this as soon as I have some cash to spare. Its been my sig for a while now, this game looks amazing.
It's not like they guilt trip you into doing it. The reason you don't have problems getting the big titles is because of what they are: big titles. It also depends on where stores are located for how many copies they get sent.
No, they do guilt trip you into not reserving it because they then claim that they have no more copies (unless they do, at which point they make you THINK you got lucky this time and next time you want a game you should reserve anyways..)
Fuck reserving unless it's a really big title (since I want to make sure I get it, like I did with FF12 and like i'm doing with SSBB and Lost Odyssey)... everything else I just get from my local Fry's (they seem to have a million copies of everything on the same day as the shipping date... they usually put them on the shelves that night, so I just pick whatever I want after work/class.)
Gonna go pick this game up tomorrow, it seems awesome... I just hope the wiimote isn't too much of a pain to play with (see: redsteel.)
uh, where do you buy your games? No stores near me put them out til the actual release date >_>.Originally Posted by Exoduso
It IS the release date... but when gamestop puts 2/12 for example, they really mean that it ships on the 12th and will be available on the 13th... Fry's puts the stuff on their shelves the evening of the 12th.
Not always. Its the fault of the game producer, really, and shipper, not of Gamestop's - they list their release day, and most choose to ship their game on that day, as its 'released' from their store. Sometimes they do early shipments to certain retailers, just like some stores get certain games at a discount etc. A ton of games are actually streetdated early releases - we may get them in a day / week / two weeks early, but can't sell them til the day they 'release'. Those companies are smart!but when gamestop puts 2/12 for example, they really mean that it ships on the 12th
Also, as far as reserves... do it, I donno. It makes life easier on everyone, and its really at no loss. You can put $5 on a game, and its fully refundable if you change your mind, you can move it to another reserve, or you can put it towards another game / get cash back... If you're pretty certain you're gonna pick up a game, reserving it makes life a lot easier on everyone. Yeah yeah, if you don't wanna put money down, you don't have to, I get that... but at the same time, Gamestop doesn't run on commission, the guy on the other side of the counter isn't doing it to get paid any more or any less. SOOOO many people don't reserve games for so many reasons (not a popular title, such a popular title they think gamestop will get way too many to sell, they think its a scam, w/e) and get turned away... and to those people we almost grin at, thinking, well, we told ya to reserve. It does happen! Not everytime, of course, but its free insurance, as I see it.
Rock Band was impossible to find in a 100-mile radius from my store for about the first three weeks, save for the three boxes we had reserved at our stores (and other stores, of course). Halo they made a billion of. We still have unwrapped copies. BTW, if the salesperson ticks you off, let the supervisors know. Gives the rest of us a bad rapRock Band, Halo 3, etc
And yeah, it makes us look good to our superiors. Which is always nice.
anymore opinions on the game?
So how likely is this game going to fail on the american market like it did in japan?
I don't know if I'll buy, seems like a rental to me. How long is it?
Actually, they kinda do. I don't think its commission, but each employee has to push a certain number of reserves/magazine subscriptions or they get bitched out by the regional manager or something. It came up in the working at a game store topic a couple months ago.Originally Posted by Jotaru
they dont track reserves subs anymore. it's a minimal stat at the moment, our current goals are 2 subs and 3 reserves per day which is a trivial joke as we do at least twice that almost every day. but yea, its not commission, we dont get anything for selling em, and its really to help with how much stock we get in something. we sold out of burnout so fast because we only had 1 preorder for ps3 so we only got 2 copies =/
Reserving only gets the stores more copies, and your conspiracy theory about it being the last copy when there's actually more is probably that you picked up the last copy that wasn't reserved. Also the Gamestop new release list has the shipping date on it and the games aren't usually for sale until the next day, unless it has the street date on there. As for getting bitched at for not getting enough reserves or subscriptions, I've never seen it happen and it's not really that big of a deal. Our manager's just been telling us to mention trades lol.
lol redsteel, where if you point away from the screen at anytime you spin with your sword out looking at the ceiling haha
