    Re: No More Heroes (wii)

Just got this today. Awesome game. A few questions for anyone who might have been playing more as I just rushed my way through to rank 7 today.

Do clothes have any effect on stats or are they purely aesthetic? (There's a tiger on the jacket!)

Can I go back and pick up a missed trading card? I missed card 13.

How do I activate the special attacks the old russian drunk teaches you, ie. the "jumping" attacks?

clothes don't do anything as far as i can tell.

i believe 13 comes after 14, so just play through the game and see if it's your next card.

the special attacks idk, i just know the jumping slash you have to swing the nunchuk.

and for people who don't know already, you can "homepoint" by driving your bike off the cliff nearby the job center. it puts you right back at the motel and it's a whole lot better than riding all the way back.

Bah, was looking to rent this game but couldn't find it anywhere. The controls aren't sluggish are they? I heard they were far better than Red Steel's

For the most part it controls fine. Riding the bike is pretty shitty handling but its more of a diversion anyway.

Love this game! The whole way it was designed to look and play makes it feel right at home with the Wii. Nothing like decapitating someone's head to only "jerk off" your sword to raise it's battery level. Granted, I've only played through the first two bosses, but it has to be one of the first must buy games of 2008. It's selling out everywhere (limited supply?), but I did see 4 copies left at my Wal-Mart last night.

Yes. This game is a blast... I am loving every bit of cutscene in it. Hilarious, a bit raunchy, love the artwork style and voices... making money can be a pain, but i try to just get it done so i can move on to the next kill.

I am rank 7 now I think... and every ranked fight so far has been highly unique and enjoyable. Controls are smooth, once you get used to the camera/repositioning the camera, etc.

I have to learn to check my battery gauge more often tho... so many time i am just swinging away with a dead saber =P

I went to Target today to see if they had it, no dice. Relatives gave me a gift card to Target -.- people should just give cash so I could buy it elsewhere!

Got it this weekend. Awesome game. Probably one of the better Wii titles. Especially considering the other "mature" games for Wii...

    Re: No More Heroes (wii)

I looked at it on stage 6, I thought it was going to be yet another GTA rip off, the CS looked a bit cheezy vs Death Metal, but as soon as the CS was over and they jumped into the fights, looked freaking awesome.

I'm guessing the CS's will be less cheezy if I actually played the game instead of watching 1 part of it out of context.

I'm buying another Wii soon, and I hope this one is out in AU.

Off topic : Anyone know PAL/AUS release date list?

While riding the motorcycle, you can make instant 90 degree+ turns by tilting the wiimote on the side and pressing B while going full speed (or close to it). It also recharges the boost meter (Z button). Turns motorcycle riding from a chore into something kinda fun.

Sorry to bump... But I think this deserves a bit more discussion than 2 pages !

I just recently beat it... Total mind fuck of an ending (At least IMO). Loved the game and am going on to start 3 New game + 1 for each difficulty for the hell of beating it again with everything. !

What do you guys think of it?

I beat it fairly fast, imo. Sad it's over. And regret that I didn't get to bang the blonde chick

BTW, if you beat the game, be sure to save the part after all the CSs on a separate file so you can start the new, harder setting again from the start. I made that mistake, and it directly sends me to the new game.

I always get goosebumps at the start of a round fight for some reason.
(may just be the nostalgia factor from the whole 'stage intro' screen you get that shows the rank of the fight and the silhouette of your target)

I'm enjoying the game. I don't like some of the annoying jobs you have to do to get money to pay for your next ranked fight, but once I get into the ranked fight area I'm having a fucking blast.

Ditto to the watch the battery gauge thing. I swing around with a dead katana 50% of the time lol.

Whoever said it was like playing two different games (maybe it was from a review I read) was dead right. The combat and story are fking awesome, the GTA-inspired over-world and random jobs are fairly lame.

I wish there was a spoiler box so I didn't have to say his name like super small... But did you get the "real" ending? Did you fight Henry?

I know I'm late and necrobump and whatever. But I must say this.

If you have a Wii, get this game. For the love of God, get this game. Its so good, all the jobs (except graffiti cleaning) and assassin missions are great, free fights are kinda gay cause one mistake and your done, the bosses are epic (although Rank 5 fight is so bullshit) and the last couple of boss fights + the ending is amazing. The customizable clothes are awesome too, and the little minigames like strength training are nice little additions to "leveling up"

I wish I they didn't do that speed up shit for the end though, I need to find a video of that slowed down or something, I caught like 5% of what was said

    Re: No More Heroes (wii)

God I rented this game and just got rank 6. It is so fucking awesome I can't believe it. The fighting is so visceral yet controlled due to the well implemented motion controls. The graphics rock so hard that even the loading screens are cool because of this cool paint splash effect that it applies to the last frame before the loading.

I just can't recommend the game enough. The reviewers who complained about the city and earning money are full of shit, compared to the bullshit that games like Mass Effect put you through it is NOTHING.

If I had the money I'd go out and buy the game to support it

EDIT: Oh yeah, I really want some of the t-shirts IRL
