Why not just close the borders entirely? Awesome idea, now those foreign companies HAVE to relocate here!

Except that because of decreased competition/supply in the local market, prices rise. Whoops, all of a sudden everyone has the same amount of money and things cost more. Protectionism leads to market inefficiency.

I'm not sure I understand the close the borders thing. They only have to relocate here in order to remain competitive I think. I also understand protectionism which is different than this, I think.
