Solo popped on PLD on the 6th or 7th mob I killed ^^b Took it til 98% solo before 1 member of my LS arrived, took it down to 70% with him (He was DRG/BLU) with another LS watching and obviously calling a GM. Eventually 4 more people arrived and it was @ 15% when the GM arrived. There was much QQing from this LS

This was a good story until the part where other people showed up.

It's not that I couldn't have soloed it, just would have taken forever and the GM would have probably said I was holding :/ Maybe if I /RDM next time for Bio or something I'll solo it PLD.

Is that like some sort of joke? Despot would eat any PLD alive if they tried to solo...Unless you were talking about PLD/RDM kiting it around with Bio on it...

Cause I've noticed the best trick to pop him is to go up when there is another shell performing a mass racial cleansing of the dolls, and just kill one or two as a solo Rdm... poof you'll get him in three or four dolls for sure, and spend half an hour to an hour killing him...


Just to wind up in batallia bazaaring it, man I wish there was some effective way to MPK at Despot sometimes.

Doesn't take that long to kill as RDM lol. If you can show some damage, they wont (or at least a nondouchebag GM) do anything really.

Haha I remember my LS had about 30 people literally killing the dolls 20 seconds after they popped. We were just out in the middle ruining their day. We did this for about an hour (The window was open) and still no pop. We left because it was getting late and somebody got it like 5 minutes later ~_~

But anyway, I do the solo thing you hate now

Really, everyone has had haidate since 2006 now?

Man, I feel really silly then, given that the Ulli fix was what Oct 2006, and I didn't even hit 75 til early 2007, or find a sky shell that wouldn't die randomly til fall 2007, and still know of people who are still waiting/just recently got Haidate.

Pardon my little moment of happiness and excitement about getting an item which I once thought I'd never see (pre-Ulli fix) ever in my ffxi career.

Not meaning to add fuel to the fire or anything here, just merely pointing out that Haidate rushes were more 2005 than 2006, when Sky was still the primary go-to event for most LSes.

And yes, I quite vividly realize the irony of me saying that.

Yes I know the whole Sky being "THE" event is way past, but there was also that long stretch where RMT owned Ulli, at least on Carby, and there were people running around with Ebodies, Ridills, Black belts, all that good shit, and whatever generic pre-Haidate pants their job wore.

Kind of crushed my hopes for them while talking to someone wearing Ebody, Ridill, and War AF2 legs full time and hearing them tell of how hard it was to get an Ulli claim, so it came down to buying pops from RMT's, or extreme luck, and then to go pop for Nhands and Dlegs ftw.

There's a whole wave of DD's that didn't start back then, or didn't have a sky LS then who are just now in kitty pants happy land.
