what would you wear in the legs slot for drain/aspir other than wise for macc? short of owning nashira pants (which i don't ><) it's that or mahatma i'd think. wise gear gets a bum rap imo. several pieces have actual, legitimate uses, though they are very situational. chausible is a fantastic body piece to use for drain/aspir b/c of the significant macc on it. other than nashira (which again i don't have the body. ><) or af2 body for fast cast, what other pieces of equipment are as effective for it? the reason the wise set gets such a bad name imo is that lousy rdm like to full time it. that's just lazy or bad (then again, captain is too lazy to macro out mp gear on whm here has no room to complain. ><) and the stigma of it has stuck with the set as a whole. oh, and the fact that 3/5 of the pieces suck harder than the mantra belt. the hell is the point of that pile anyway? what situation would it EVER be useful for?

    Re: MAG ACC Question

    Given 2 INT=1Macc
    Mahatma/Morrigan Slops have 8 INT/10 INT respectively.
    8 INT = 4Macc 10 INT = 5Macc

    Hence my point.

Thought SE stated that correlation at fanfest or something.
Not 100% sure though, I do remember reading it somewhere besides this thread.

Regardless Wise legs are pretty worthless >_>

That is just assumed based on the 2dex=acc deal. I don't believe they stated that exactly.

    Re: MAG ACC Question

SE said what everyone already knew by this point, that there is some relationship between Macc and the corresponding attributes. From there people said that meant it was 2:1 Stat:Macc but as you well know a lot of people say unfounded things from time to time.

My latest tests @322 base enfeebling skill, show that a +10 magic accuracy do noticable better than +10 skill, prolly like 1mac=1.3+ skill, but i still need some test for 322skill+nothing.
So using your tests, that +5 Macc on a 220 skill (200 dark magic cap+10 for Crimson Finger Gauntlets, +3 for earring, +7 for torque) only equates to around +3 skill. Or I can have inventory +1 by just bringing my Glamor Jupon that has +3 skill on it already for Dark Magic, and allows me to hit higher tiers for enspells, phalanx, and (I believe) barspells. Hmm.

I'm very interested in your overall tests. But do be careful not to discredit it with comments that go against your initial comments such as the glaring contradiction in these two.

Yes i'm not the one that said that. This thread is not about what piece is the best in which slot, so sarcastic comments like "why do you use this crap" are inappropriate.

But since you asked me, No i wouldn't use chasuble fro drain or aspir ; Nashira body is the best option anyway.

Also SE did mention that stats affect macc but not by much. Prior to give a random formula like 2 int = 1 macc, maybe it's a good idea to test what magic accuracy does, which is the point of my tests. And btw, I did test a bit Int on nukes in the link i gave and here are the results @ 240 base elemental skill :

    no bonus 55.95%
    16 mac bonus 63.23%
    30 int bonus 57.88 %
    15 skill bonus 67.32 %.

    Which gives ... 1 int = 0,29 magic accuracy.

    Re: MAG ACC Question

Alot of end-game rdms' told me, through the years, that MND directly effects the duration of enfeebles, i've always thought enfeebling skill myself, but whatever ;b It would explain why alot of my enfeebles only last a few seconds. It seems more like SE did it up "Enfeeble->Duration = rand(1,150)+rand(1,enfeeblingskill/2)" :D, cuz I've had 303 enfeebling and have had sleeps wear off after 2 seconds sometimes, and last for 2 minutes other times on the same level monsters...I use wise head and wise legs on my enfeeble macros because after 2 years this game still thinks my rdm looks sexy enough in 4/5 rdm af2 .... and nashira? what's that... my character got hijacked right when i was getting into limbus farming runs... meh.
How do you make your sleeps last 2min? Cause as far as I know there is no way to sleep a mob for 2min. Sleep1 = 60sec unresisted Sleep2/Repose = 90sec unresisted. Really would like to know since that would give my melees more time to kill the mobs I sleep before they all come crashing down at me.

don't read too much into it, I wasn't being accurate, it's just how it felt. replace 2 seconds with "a really short time" and replace 2 minutes with "a much longer time"

as far as repose goes, I've seen a repose last for what appeared to be much longer than 90 seconds. ran into a whm soloing imps with repose/banish and had one held asleep for well over 2 minutes.

The dude above you was talking about drain/aspir, so the whole int = macc doesn't even apply there anyways.

Don't get me wrong, I don't own a single piece of wise and won't anytime soon because I already have an extensive dark magic set for rdm and I have inventory concerns, but I could see using the wise legs in a drain/aspir situation if you didn't have nashira.

    Re: MAG ACC Question

Actually INT may play a factor in Drain/Aspir accuracy since it is Black Magic.

Sorry, skill only until someone proves otherwise. Dark Magic != Elemental Magic. I guess since int and mnd affect enfeebles that it would be feasable to think int affects dark magic as well. I've never seen anything that would suggest this though. I'd actually be interested to see magic acc tests for drain/aspir as well.

while it may not be relevant, bio is dark magic and iirc, the initial damage (not the DoT! i know that's dark magic onry!) is modified by int.

It is known that INT plays no factor in the actual HP/MP taken from Drain/Aspir, but INT may affect it's accuracy.

    Re: MAG ACC Question

I was never able to convince myself INT helped dark magic accuracy, but if I didn't have Dark Magic available to equip in the slot...with a choice between INT,MND,CHR,R.acc,Enmity...I chose INT.

As a Red Mage, I didn't care enough to test it out and parse the difference.

It doesn't affect Slow/Slow II. Barring resists, Slow is fixed duration.

What he meant by duration was chance of resist, so he was correct. But skill has almost no weight on para duration, its fairly random.
