If he has a 360, he could use that controller on the PC, right? I definitely wouldn't want to play without a really good controller though.
yeah, if you get the PC version it's pretty obvious you need a proper PS2/360 controller.
And I'm sad Dante's sections are so short and easy. The Bosses with Nero felt like pretty epic fights for survival, but with on the fly style switching I absolutely raped every boss I fought. Even though sometimes those whore Blitz kick my ass.
Still trying to find a combo I'm comfortable with.
Tried the demo today, my hand still hurts of the button mashing, but I might endure the pain and actually buy it. That is if the game store decides to import it -_-;

You aren't supposed to button smash -____-
I think someone seriously stole my copy
Edit: Ahah!
I'm not exactly button mashing D:

The only way it should be hurting is if you use gun only for an entire boss fight. Just did mission 4 (SoS), didn't get hit once throughout the first 95% of the boss fight, get hit by those falling ice blocks when he's in his second form and it took down about half my life, not funny.Originally Posted by Tajin
Edit: Holy shit, don't fuck about on the game board level. I landed on a purple square and got a bunch of knights + a Blitz. Then I landed on a red square straight after. I'm half dead hoping for an easy enemy and it warps me to the god damn second boss. God I can't wait to get to DMD mode.
Well tried the gun on the demo Boss, didn't seem to do damage at all, and I died somehow.

Elitest bastards! ;;
That was the point lol, you'd have to sit there for half an hour mashing on the shoot button to kill a boss using just the Blue Rose. Echidna on hard is a pita, came so close to dying at the very end.Originally Posted by Tajin

Well I died because was using the gun and the sword. But yeah I'm noob at DMC
The cutscenes in this game are AMAZING... story is good too for a change (didn't beat DMC3, but from what I saw in DMC1 and 2, there was basically no story in those..)
Boss fights are sick too, the framerate is making everything look gorgeous.
Just got Dante a while ago, finished 3 missions with him so far... but goddamn, how do you build combos with him? I finally got better at getting S/SS with Nero, and with Dante I seem to have more trouble. Am I supposed to use all 4 styles in every single battle in order to get the combos up? I realized that the styles' special attacks do bring the meter up quickly, as does switching the guns up and shooting once in a while, but the sword attacks seem very limited so it gets frustrating when I try to get past B or A.
It takes some getting used to since for the first half of the game you've been adjusting to Nero. I have no problem getting SSS on Dante using just Swordmaster (level 4, first thing I upgraded for him) once I got used to him. Lock on and use his forward + B/Circle (keep tapping it) and you can usually build up an B/A using just that (S-SSS if you get multiple enemies with the final attack). Throw in some other random combo's and you should have no problem getting into the S-SSS range. I tend to switch to Gunslinger occasionally during fights (I have it at level 4 too, <3 Pandora) and string in some gunplay using the shotgun and Pandora. Not sure if you have Gilgamesh yet, but once you get it and level 4 Swordmaster you shouldn't have any problem getting a high style meter. Just remember to try not to repeat moves until you've waited a little while or else you wont get any style points for them.
Sorry for that wall of text. Abilities are starting to annoy me now, when I learn a new move every other move goes up 5k Proud Souls.![]()
So are trick/royal useless, or do you just not use them as often/only for defensive actions?
Trickster is more defensive (unless they added new moves, mines at level 1 on DMC4), Royal Guard was amazing for defence in DMC3 aswell as doing quite a bit of damage with the right timing, but I haven't played about with it in DMC4 so I can't really say.Originally Posted by Exoduso

Trickster is my favourite of DMC3, and even though it does have qualities of being "defensive," it's sheer speed and maneuverability when used offensively makes it the top style in my book.
Okay, but to get to a high combo score constantly, I have to switch them up during battle right? I guess it's basically practicing and practicing until I nail certain combos together (like jumping in the air, using the trickster ability to teleport in the air or w/e, switch to gun while in the air and use that awesome attack from above thing, then switching back to sword, etc.)
I like Nero better, it's simple, kickass, and it works. Dante is way overpowered (and the battle system for Dante is like 10 times deeper than Nero's, it's overwhelming for a newbie DMC player like myself.. >.<)
