BRD in Nyzul

Had a dispute with my bard today on song choice. For those of you who melee the normal mobs and bosses Nyzul, what do think about song choice?

On the normal mobs, that con DCish, would you rather have 2 mins or min and march?

On the bosses, would you rather have 2 mins or min and march?

The melees in our setup are a THF/NIN, a DRG/SAM, and BLU/NIN. If you could settle our argument with a compelling explanation, that'd be fantastic.

We have 2 MNK/NINs tanking ours, both with 25% haste gear. So, for the progression floors, I rather have double Minuet to kill them quicker, seeing as they usually die fast enough without having to recast shadows, also they miss a lot. Maybe switch it up for mobs like Psycheflayers (Hate those).

But for Bosses, Fafnir and Khimaira especially, I ask for a March, maybe double March for Khimaira, seeing as he attacks ridiculously fast. Nothing like 20~21 second Utsu: Ni recasts.

I'm going with minuet/march full time even on the thf quqirn. Just change to your merit acc gear you'd use for merits eating meat and you're good to go.

Yes. Whether it be lag on my part, I don't know. But my recast pops up at exactly 21 seconds.

As you can see I just casted it, took the shot as soon as recast popped up. And yes, I know there is a cap at 50% recast. So beats me.

This is the correct answer for your setup, despite no compelling arguement. Fully merited or not, with that setup, you'll still always want some additional haste, even on normal mobs.

We run Nyzul as

NIN/WAR
BLU/NIN
RDM/BLM
BLM/WHM
WHM/BLM
BRD/WHM

and I stick with March/Minuet nearly full time for both mobs and bosses. Ugly times, I'll switch to Marchx2 for recasts, but that is rare indeed. With your setup, I can't imagine using anything else tbh other than the occasional Madrigal or double March for the oh~shit times.

Sorry. The DRG and BLU are well merited, 8 polearm and 8 sword, job specific merits capped, crits, etc. The THF is 6/8 on knife merits I believe. All melees have a moderate haste setup of about 10%, THF and DRG use meat and the BLU uses sushi. No real acc issues from any of them on any sort of mob.

As far as the recast issue, FFACT reads mine at 21.something.goes.by.too.fast.to.tell when capped. I Have always chalked this up to the game calculating recast time to include the cast time. 50% haste = 21.75 + .75 = 22.5, half of the stated 45s recast. I assumed a lot in that, but its just always been my way of accounting for the difference.

As far as the OP I can only speak for myself as NIN and I like to play to the job's strong points. Lacking in atk so the minuet definately helps, but when I parse usually only 15ish % (just pulling that out of my ass as a generality) of total damage is from WS compared to other DD jobs that sometimes do 40% total in WS's. I dont know how much my DoT goes up with x amount of atk, I should probably run the numbers, but I do know that my DoT goes up X amount with X amount of haste, no matter what mob I'm fighting. Add that to the fact that your choosing between two top tier songs, and 1 top, 1 second tier song. I think the answer should be apperant.

well when my group does nyzl on defeat all enemy floors we break into 2 groups and go seperate ways. brd+war+mnk in one group and rdm sam and war in other. So i keep minuet/march on. Mad/march like they said w/ qiqrins. Also on faf sometimes ill do mad for his wing blind but not always. Also every nyzl brd should have a storm fife too but thats another subject =p

never used 2 Mins on anything for Nyzul.

March will help you kill just as fast if not faster.

We go melee heavy usually:

RDM/WHM
THF/NIN
DRG/WAR
SAM/WAR
WAR/NIN
BRD/WHM

The DRG and SAM sometimes come as WAR and MNK

Anyway, Minuet/March. Unless people are having a hard time hitting (they usually don't). Or if the healer(RDM) is dead, then Paeon/Paeon.

I could see how some groups would stick to Minuet/March, even for Qiqirn. I just try to keep things simple for my group, and I find it easier for me to play one new song, rather than four melee change their gear around. To each their own.

As far as double anything but March, I really wouldn't ever consider doing that. >_>; Maybe Marches for recasts, but I can't justify a Mithkabob over 11% Haste.

Am I the only one that has a seriously hard time actually playing BRD in Nyzul? I tried it a couple of times, and it was awful. Mobs would be dead and the party would be moving again before I could finish a song, the maze-type rooms made it very difficult to get songs separated from backline/frontline, I felt like I was single-handedly slowing the run down. Granted I don't have manteel/gomlek, but I still can't imagine actually being BRD full-time in there.

I've gone to Nyzul a few times on BRD with Atum and I have to agree. Holy crap it is a pain.
