Low Manning/TP Burning Waking the Beast

I was talking to one of my LS leaders the other day and he mentioned that we might try doing a Waking the Beast run sometime in the near future. When I heard about this I immediatly excited about doing it. I've always wanted to do these fights but because people rarely do them I've only been able to go and do the Shiva fight. Anyways, he mentioned that because we really don't have many SMNs in the LS that it would help if I could find a way to either low man them or do them in a TP burn manner.

My LS is not new to the low manning ideas of doing things. In fact thats one of the reasons we started the LS is so that don't just go into things with 18 people when 6-10 skilled players could do it just as well. So any suggestions on how to do these fights in a low manned way or with a TP burn set up (don't have any KC DRKs in the LS) so we could give this a shot.

Also was wondering that if any of the gear that drops from doing these fights is really any good to any specific job. I heard a while back that Shiva's Shotel was a decent weapon for BLU's to use. Not sure if it has been replaced with an easier to get item but it would be nice to know what the drops are best suited for.

Can be melee burned, just not sure how well, honestly. I do know a monk can take the elementals fairly easily. Garuda and Leviathan are gonna be your tough ones, they spam their cure BP's if they get too much TP.

What im wondering is how your gonna handle the carby final fight.

Re: Low Manning/TP Burning Waking the Beast

    We did with 10.

2NIN, WAR, RNG, MNK, BRD, WHM, RDM, 2BLM (tbh I was near useless on BLM, nukes are great on Avatars but suck on Carby. I nuked a little but mainly was there to keep a melee alive during final stage)

Just beat down Carby/Avatars like normal. Have one NIN kite one Avatar on first double pop. Have NIN and WAR or a RDM kite 2 Avatars on 3 set pop. Make sure to rest up while holding the final Avatar, before coming into contact with the 5 Carby's. Hold an easy Avatar, not Ramuh or Shiva or anything. Poison Pots for Shiva owns also, her Sleepga has massive range.(like 30')

Then have each person take a Carby to different corners and kill them. MNK, each NIN, RDM/NIN and WAR all hold one respectively. We had a Mage covering each Melee to keep them alive and had the RNG go with one NIN to own that one quick. WAR 2hr'd his and owned it, other Melee killed theirs before the frist group even got out to help. Ended up having everyone gang rape the RDMs.

Was actually quite a bit easier then expected. We did have one wipe on first try but 50% of us, at least, had never done it before and we like 3 carby's Searing Light at the same time and killed some ppl who were'nt far enough apart.

As long as everyone is a decent distance away from each other, they should only get hit by their own SL and prolly survive it anyways, if not then by the time carby gets to someone else there should be free Melee and dead Carby's already.

    Hope that helps~

The Prima Avatar fights aren't too bad but don't throw melee at them. RNG owns the Elementals. We just took some BLMs for those and had 2 NINs tank the Avatar. MNK and RNg were only DD. Think we did Primes with like 2NIN, BRD, 2RDM, WHM, MNK, RNG, 3-5 BLMs. They pop a new Elemental each time they do the Merit BPs. Seems like they spammed TP moves though, not sure if cause we have 4 melee on them or not. RNg saved TP for Eles and near one shotted them with Side/Barrage. BLMs cleaned them up. Kite+aga3 at start to clear out group of Eles.

you actually dont need any smns to do the fights. TP burns are best. Better yet, TP burns with blms help on the avatars. But Blms dont do well on carby.

A bit of an aside question, what are the conditions for repeating this quest? Do you have to re-defeat all prime avatars in their respective cloisters every time you want to attempt the final BC?

    Someone in my group said;

If you have beaten it, you can re-enter, as long as you DON'T re-obtain the Resonator. If you re-obtain the Resonator, you have to defeat all 6 Primes again.

Also, you don't need the Resonator to help on Primes either but you do need it to get the Key Items.

Not 100% positive on this but they said last time they did it, someone who didn't have any of the Eyes or Resonator came for the Carby fight(they had beaten it before as well).

I think we were 11 Judai, but yeah, it's like you described it.

One thing I would add is to have one person WS Carbuncle before he become invincible (at 25%). I managed to make it drop from 26% to 20% with rampage (I think the rng might have landed a WS too). When they repop, all 5 will have 20% hp.

If everyone have get SV+light threno before the final carby spawn, it should be a joke if the 5 melee manage to spread them apart. Mighty strike, hundred fist and most 2h can take down a carby from 25% to 0% in 45-60sec

I don't have enough fingers for high level maths like this, but 12-1 according to window calculator gives 11.

The actual Carbuncle fight is stupid easy as long as you have enough people to account/hold the adds/Carbuncles away from each other. We did with 8 the 2nd time.

I haven't a clue how to 'low-man' the avatar fights though.

Most of our fight last time sucked, but near the end, we just kited them and had blm nuke. As long kiter manage to outrun summon's WS, no elemental is going to pop (added to the 1200dmg avoided). Could probably do it with 7-8 if you got the right job.

If you don't re-obtain the eyes for your own entry item you sacrifice a shot at more drops. After you beat the BC whenever someone exits the CS there is a random chance for an item to load, if only 8 people had the entry item I think you only have 8 shots at an item/s to drop as opposed to 16 people with it flagged having double the chance at items.
