Even if you don't use points to determine who gets what, a good "Linkshell Management System" should be able to track jobs, triggers, who got what and attendance, and make it easy to do so. I've made some heavy modifications to the eqdkp system (including security enhancements, and ffxi specific changes) for FFXI, but it's in a beta-ish stage right now, but a few linkshells are using it already.
The features added are:
1) Primary and Secondary Jobs: In many situations in FFXI end-game activities, a character will have Primary and Secondary Jobs, normally separated by the secondary jobs being high enough to participate in end-game events, but not yet max level.
2) Multi-job support: In addition to Primary and Secondary jobs, the system supports a character having multiple jobs selected.
3) Secondary Attendees: Frequently people may arrive late, leave early, or for whatever defined reason receive fewer (or more) points than others that attended. Secondary Attendees was added, and are added from Add Raid. The default point value they are given is half the raid value, but an override value can be entered.
4) Item Requests: Frequently, people want specific items, and they track it themselves, or the leader helps track it and quickly gets overwhelmed. Item Requests work similar to Items, only the system tracks whether they've received the item and they are not charged any points for the request. The request is marked as fulfilled if the character has an item added with the same name as an open request.
5) Triggers: Many mobs killed in end-game require specific items to spawn them, then those drop more items that combined spawn others and so on. The system can track Triggers. They are added like an Item Request or an Item, being assigned to a person and received from a specific raid. When a raid is added, you can select the triggers that were used on that raid. It then is a simple task to see who has what triggers to see what you need and what you don't need.
6) Run based inactive checks: I added a configuration option so that a character can be marked as inactive based on the missing the specified number of runs. The option is available for time-based or raid-based determination for inactivitiy.
7) Misc: All views, etc. for these additions have been added, menu options, adding to appropriate summary/detail view pages etc.
If you would like to see it in action, PM me and I can send you the link to one of the linkshells using it right now (haven't checked to see if they'd be ok with it being the example link yet), and if you want to install it on a server and try it out, PM me as well and I'll put it up for download somewhere and send you the link.
EDIT: I got approval to post the links of the system in action.
