Keeping Linkshell Sites Interesting

So Im curious to hear what other linkshell leaders/webmasters do to keep their LS forums/website interesting. I like to think that we're all creative people and have ideas for something that would look cool on their site. Some little niche. A quirk. Whatever. Something that makes them stand out. This is aside from making posts detailing all of the shit you have killed.

I figured what better way to find out, then to post on BG about it and hopefully everyone else will reply.

I'll go first: My website (http://www.darklegionsvalefor.com) has a series of rotating banners. You have a chance of getting any of them at random when you refresh the page. So far we have about 25 with lots more on the way. These banners detail everything from linkshell inside jokes, to member profiles (we plan on eventually having a banner for each member). We find it funand refreshing (pun intended) to click on a page and get a laugh at the top in addition to the information you were looking for.

Ill post a few of em here, sorry for breaking the tables! The banners have a black background so they blend in with our forum backgrounds.

So, what does your LS do?

Add random shit (Stuff that is just off the wall and has nothing to do with FFXI)
Add joke updates
Make sure there are lots of pictures

Edit: I would suggest looking at the link in my sig, but my bandwidth is eaten and none of the pictures work so it looks dumb. The website gets a good amount of hits per month (*'-')b

We just try to update on time. Those 1 week or 1 months updates are so boring when you check out the other LS while camping stuff

I'm an admin on our webpage. I've lately added Dynamis and Salvage update pages. Try to update our frontpage every week or so. Keep our Screenshots and Kills page updated as often as possible. Update our Polls once a month, can be anything from what you want in game to what you want the LS to focus on, or random crap even.

Lately I've been toying with the idea of changing our Layout/Background a bit seeing as the page/forums haven't changed since the LS transferred site hosters.

We have this shitty player thread in the members section of our forum where we talk about our experiences in groups about just that. I said it would be fun to have a public section where we could have monthly nominees for the public to vote on, but some felt that would be too mean.

Took us over a year + to finally get the site going. I finally got it setup in November of last year. http://www.bbqls.com Nothing special, just blog of drops and events. We got 5 different reporters so we get a variety of writing styles. Keeps it interesting that's for sure.

back in august 07, i did start to make a monthly wrap-up, originaly inspired by the bg one. usualy contains some bits n bites about events we did and the hall of fame. varies based on what happend and how many items dropped.

There's some LS (I don't recall the name or server) that has fake banner ads. They looked like real ones, but jokingly sold gil and stuff. I refreshed that site over and over to see them all, so very amusing.
