Fastest way to solo use 1000 bst seals?

Wouldn't Drain do a ton more damage over the coarse of chainspell than thunder 2? 21mp for 150 damage > 86mp for 300 damage(making up the numbers, can't remember how effective these spells are at 60).

Doing Drain the whole duration of Chainspell wouldn't run your MP enough, effectively wasting possible Chainspell damage. On the flipside, Thunder II the whole time would run your MP too fast, giving you some time left on Chainspell after finishing the nukes. Thunder II followed by Drain on the other side of Convert actually seems like a pretty smart way of doing things.

250-270 thunder2s, bliz2 not that far behind (barring resists on either), and drain can just be kinda wonky, anywhere from 12hp up to 140 or so. Keep in mind this is with 8 enfeebling (6? active at 60), and 6 dark merits on RDM, and choke/shock/burn on as much of the fight as I can maintain it.

At least the drops pay for the meds I need to keep MP up long enough to last for convert .__.

I'll comment on treasure and tribulations, it's about 30% that you'll actually get the chest and then a even lower chance that you'd get something good.

btw I used whm(37)/blm for this and just stoneskin / blink / aquaveil at the begining and warp'd and tele mea'd back from Jueno etc.

There was a simple trick that would enable a user to find the correct chest on the first try. I did it twice years ago but I only got a medicine ring, guardian ring, a coral fragment, and a couple crappy gemstones. The rewards are fairly crappy. The trick may have been fixed though.

When they came out with Royal Jelly BCNM I found that to be much more rewarding and much more fun even though you need a 3-man group. I did Royal Jelly over 40 times and I have never lost. My favorite setup was 2x drg and 1x whm/blm (I was the whm).

Pretty certain that was patched, I think for a time they used a different .dat for the "right" chest. I have to admit I tried it but the swap didn't work for me and I'm pretty certain it was fixed.

I didn't have to swap or edit any .dat files to do the trick. Before I stopped playing a year ago I was told it still worked but I haven't verified it. If you could maneuver the camera's position inside a chest so that it was completely enclosed by it you would be able to discern that one had solid walls and the other two were transparent.

i think what raineer's talking about was how some people could cheat on the apollyon run and find the 3 "true" chests from the mimics w/o fighting. don't quote me on that though.

Alright, if you're gonna do Treasure and Tribulations, don't just suicide. I beat it easily with subpar gear as nin+rdm, and nothing else. I picked the middle chest, ended up fighting a mimic. It's accuracy is pretty bad, and a better equipped ninja with antidotes and hi-potions could probably solo it. I didn't even use food, so a lot of damage actually came from rdm DoT lol (since I couldn't hit it, it has good evasion ><).

Although, you still only get 2 drops when you beat it by actually killing the mimic. I heard somewhere you were supposed to get 6 if you actually killed the mimic, but it must have just been a rumor or something. Anyway, don't WASTE your seals. Just bring a nin and a mage, maybe a blu or something for stun spam. Then even if you guess wrong you don't lose your seals.

Anyway, much simpler than 6blm method or whatever, and easy to get people for.

I can confirm it *used* to work, it was part of that chest using a different .dat. I can also remember posts of "shit I can't do it anymore".

Yes, if you kill the chest you get the drops, just like if you kill a real mimic you get a key (the way I used to get keys for Castle O all the time, just follow THF's who died). It'd be a even shittier BC if you lost just by picking the wrong chest.

Was my understanding that killing the chests solo was nigh-impossible, I've tried in half-assed lv50 cap NIN gear before and got like 30% stick on enfeebs and really low damage, didn't seem like I could've won.

The mimic really isn't that hard, it would just take a while, and involve decent gear. If I can gear up my nin properly for 50cap I'll try to solo it. (Although I play on ps2 so I'd have to record it and I have no way of really getting it onto the PC.)

One time me and some friends went and got orbs for it, WHM BRD NIN, spent a bunch on gear/tools for it, then 2 of the 3 picked the right chest.. I was pissed. When we had to kill it it was easy though.

Good luck soloing. That aoe stun + poison isnt nice and it hits pretty hard. I went nin/whm and had issues. Best I could do was get it to 65%. Really felt like I wasn't doing dmg fast enough. Funny thing to note though is that it doesnt aggro after you RR. It does regen if not dot'd though, but thats fairly standard.
