Heat Breath / Aegis Question

How do we know Mijin Gakure is a fire elemental attack? I mean, everyone seemed to think Dragons' Body Slam was fire based because it too had fire in its animation, but when BLU was released we found out it was non elemental physical dmg(lol)

Another good example of a "physical breath" is Sulfurous Breath from Cerberus. Hits shadows when they are up and the damage from it can be reduced by sentinel/shield block. Also I'm pretty sure it does the same damage no matter what HP Cerb is at.

I'm almost positive you can resist Sulfurous Breath with a fire build.

By resist I mean reduce damage of course, a resisted Gates of Hades will do next to no damage and no burn effect.

Doubt that it's fire based... always took far less damage in Arhat's and estaff then in lolDDgear when I was in the mood to poke it... 900+ compared to <600.

Firespit behaves similar to Sulfurous Breath, right, in terms of appearing to be magical damage but can be blocked by shadows. Can anyone with shadow ring/mantle say if Firespit is annulled by one or the other or both, or alternatively say they've been hit by it enough times with one or the other equipped to say with authority that it is not? (Mamool only, I don't care about the BLU spell.) I'm fishing for possible ways test the hybrid damage-type claims.

I know that aside from shadows, you can also parry Sulfurous Breath. I've had my shadows stripped, and taken no damage... but I get the message "Cerberus uses Sulferous Breath, but misses Kirschy."

Like Aurik said there are definetly two types of Firespit. I can't recall ever getting a "miss" on Firespit from the melee mamool though.

I believe I've been missed by Orange Mamool Firespit a few times on NIN, but it's rare since it generally requires 3 shadows up with the last of the 4 hits missing. The chance is pretty low. Whether the first 3 hits miss or not, they still take your shadows, so it depends on the hits that don't take shadows but instead are directly aimed at you. Any less than 3 shadows would make the chance of Firespit missing astronomically small since they'd have at least 2 shots at you at what's probably a capped 95% accuracy, and 4 shadows will just absorb the whole thing.

However, I can't remember one specific incident where I noticed it missing. I know I've noticed the other 4-hit WS mamools have missing, but those aren't in question..

Next time I tank cerb Ill bring my fire set and test it on breath. It already works great on Lava Spit and GoH like you mentioned.

Tested heat breath last night in dyna-valk, shell5 did not have an effect. All heat breaths were 637.
