I wonder what would happen.....
Person A sells his acct to IGE, IGE turns around and sells it to Person B.
Account gets taken from person B and given back to person A.
Could person B possibly sue IGE for it? On top of that, could IGE sue Person A to get it back?
Now, they have that little disclaimer in the form "I have never sold my account" If you sign it, how "legal" is the form, is it breaking the law? or just breaking your contract with SE?
Id assume it breaks SEs contract since the internet laws are lightyears behind.
it seems like someone could compromise your account just by calling and knowing information like your full name, address and birthday.
so now it's just as important to keep your personal information just as private as your account login information.

You need:
Full name (First Mid.Init. Last)
Date of Birth
Playonline Reg Codes (they seem sort of willing to accept others, but kiss their ass if you don't have POL)
First 4 and last 4 digits of ANY credit card that has been ever be used to pay for the account
If you don't have those 4, you will not get anywhere with POL desk. Address does *not* matter, only the last is on record anyways.
Hmm, this worries me:

Holy christ shit.... wtf kind of a response was that?
Was all that legit? If so I can't believe that...even for SE.
Stunned. I am absolutely...words fail me...
That is quite possibly the biggest...most colossally sad thing I've ever read.
It's not even humorous in a dark comedy sort of way...

That SS made me laugh, in a sad "what the hell is this" disbelief, kind of way. Makes me feel like people may as well just quit if this is the great "solution", if your account was one of the ones lost. Well unless you have amazing drive to reattain everything again. Ugh.
/facepalm, & etc
Quite possibly they only restore dropped items.
The rest of your shit was stolen.
The key quote is "Please keep in mind we cannot guarantee recovery".
Ugh. I hate it when policy is set like this (ostensibly to prevent accidental or intentional duping). Perhaps you can get a hold of a SGM? I dunno, feels like grasping at straws at this point. At least now we know the "one item" limit per recovery is false, but the GM was probably only looking at items dropped or vendored, not traded or auction-housed. Ugh.
Sadly, they were quite clear, and their policy is quite clear, that they cannot restore items that were traded, sold, or DB'd. If you've still got all your important rare/ex gear, you're doing ok, all things considered. Or as well as can be expected with this retarded policy in place.
I hope everyone fucking quits that doesn't get everything back, why even play if your account can't be returned in a manner in which it left? Current item policy? are you serious? LOL time for them to rehaul their item policy while their at it.
I've had to re-write my post a few times, out of disgust for what that response was from GM Xandamere. Now that I think about it, he/she is just the messenger, and just enforcing what they've been told by their superior. I am disappointed in SE for maintaining an ineffective policy which serves to further victimize the customers who have been affected by the hackings. If you cannot trust the people who run the game to have your "back", who can you trust?
In my opinion, SE played right into the RMT's hands. RMT used SE's own policy and lack of action to inflict the maximum amount of damage to their player base, without retribution. And the victims? The loyal customers who have paid their monthly dues (many of which have never made a late payment). SE, you guys could have been real heroes. You really blew it here.
so rmt get on your char, take everything to a dbox npc then drop a few consumable items like silentoil, echo drops, crystals and SE says lol @ you, have a nice day.
CLARIFICATION OF MISINFORMATION BY SOME:
you actually DO NOT need any of the original credit card information or any credit card information. if you call from the number that was ORIGINALLY on the account they will let you do the restoration process. they can see your phone number. i could not find the original credit card and i was naming off like 5 credit cards that i had and none of them matched any of the cards that were ever paying for the account, but they let me go ahead and do the process. (which made no sense cause i can almost %100 garentee that atleast 2 of those credit cards i named i did use to pay for the account and i even have the credit card bills to prove it)
i had to call twice and the first time i called i just needed the last 4 digits of the registration codes and then the second time i called i needed the whole registration code.
Dont even know where to start..... SE has obviously shown that the only reason they released that bit on POL was to fool the masses into thinking they did something of value by saying that they wanted to help people.
First off you have POL employees saying that they are throwing peoples notarized forms in the garbage if they cant match your information with the computer and considering the fact that SE could even send out EMAIL without a huge fucking issue lets ponder how many forms 'accidently' hit the garbage? Thus starting the process over for some sap out there, probably thinking they are going to get an email that will never come. (SE doesnt say anything, you come to them or you can enjoy waiting 2weeks to find out nothings been done)
Secondly, the GM policy on items was created for instances that people did something stupid and wanted a quick reverse - SE decides to frankenstein the policy to cover something drastically different, throwing it in there to again fool the fucking masses into thinking that somethings done and that they are heroes. So after all this, you'll still have people saying SE did something even though what they did amounts to nothing and that everyone should 'take what they get' - right, id have rathered they man up and post on the POL mainpage:
'A great big fuck you from every employee at Square-Enix from El Segundo to whereever the fuck we are in Japan, we are completely and utterly devoted to confusion, lies, deception and stalling. Didnt you enjoy our little game of cockteasing?~ Anyway, if you havent been hacked dont think we'll prepare and handle the situation any different if RMT started again tomorrow - get in line bitches and hope for the best.'
....at least it'd be the truth.
Thirdly, I love how whoever orchestrated the RMT hacking attack used every oppertunity to make sure that SE would help them cover their track and take every piece of bait set for them. First SE stalled and made christmas pass without doing anything, bam a merry Gilbuyer Christmas courtesy of the playerbase. Then they denied anything was seriously going on until after New Years - plenty of time for the RMT to liquidate anyone who was left in limbo until SE decided to erect the pathetic account locking system and make it half way to Cancun before SE made any moves. If that wasnt bad enough, the lies were perpetuated that SE was working on policy in the mothercountry and that everyone needed to wait for something big, its Japan so it has to be good right? Wrong. A group of trained gorillas could have developed a more effective policy than what someone in japan pulled outta their bum.
So you have the RMT sipping vodka martinis in Mexico, SE outreaching their hand to give you your account back.... for money? (zomg its RMT in SE?) The masses have been fed the lie that they actually fixed something, pity those who cant see past the lies and the customer is left with a frame - a frame that you have to slug it out with SE for and thats if your lucky.
WTF, shihei, and cookies? that's a load of crock. SE should know better than to give a slap in the face like that. "We can't recover your Scorpion Harness, but we found a cookie we can give ya!"
Jeez, they would have been much better off saying "I'm sorry, but we cannot recover any items at this time."
Seriously, wtf. Shihei, cookies, armlets, and bs like that? C'mon SE, you designed this game, you should know what's valued and worthwhile to recover, not stupid bullshit like that.
