    Projection TV's

What I am wondering is I heard projection TV's have bulbs that need to be replaced. How would I go about doing this say the bulb were to someday go out? Also I am really bummed out that the limit on this TV is 1080i considering it's 50 inches and has an HDMI port, but would you all say that 1080i would be any better than 720p? Should I just keep it on 720p? I really wouldn't know and I will soon be getting a PS3 with HDMI cables mainly for MGS4..

Here are some stats on our TV:

The actual resolution of your TV is 720p. It'll accept 1080i and scale it down. So there'd be no real gain going to 1080i unless you're unable to output at 720p.

Far as the bulb...it's the same as a regular projector essentially. Only in the case of your TV, it's shooting through a system of mirrors and lenses to be projected onto the internal screen. Usually with an LCD/DLP projector, bulbs are rated for a certain number of hours, and some will have a counter that you can reset when you swap bulbs to show how long that particular one has been in use. They can last longer, sometimes shorter, but it's not usually a matter of things going dim or anything. Just stops working.

I think my parents' Wega projection TV just has a plastic panel to take off and swap the bulb. Check the manual, I'm sure it'll be explained in there.

I'd use 720p for games rather than 1080i, due to 720p being native and better with fast action in general

Hmm thanks for the feedback. Well since it can't even hit 1080p is there even any valid reason to get an HDMI cable? Wouldn't component be just as good, if not better in this situation?
