i'll admit to having my smn port to a cloister for the weather. unsurprisingly i was not impressed by the results, but it was an interesting trip. ^^

Not that I believe in any of it, have any real data or even craft much at all (I'm not a gambler by nature, don't like to try to aim for HQ and balance everything in it for my financial well being), but WHEN I do, I go for day opposite of crystal or same as crystal (if I go after success). Does it help? Don't know, likely not. Does it help me? A bit.

If you wanna go crazy/insane, here are a few more pet theories:
- respecting daytime/nighttime or the opposite of it when it comes to crystal affinity (craft light-based crystals on nighttime and vice-versa - from lv3 skillchain affinity, you can get it on your equipment screen)
- moon (again light/dark based crystals alignments with new and full moon)
- day of the week and celestial and elemental strengths charts at the windy tarus.
- eating a lucky egg before crafting


You may find that you never find the right time to craft if you try to respect all "rules".

In all honesty, likely it's all random and your only perception of it comes from a small sample size.

I don't believe in crafting theories, the only reason I even pick a day, is as a placebo. It's like religion for people that aren't sure of historical accuracy, but follow it because they need to believe in...something (and no, I don't want to debate this, it's just an example).

I get a kick out of listening to people lecture me on crafting. Theres this guy on my server who i have known (tolerated) for a long time. He starts asking similar questions. Then when i tell him the SECRET to Auction House HQing (when there are materials on AH, i buy them and synth) he proceeds to try to explain to me what im doing wrong. Then again, i dont think ive ever seen, or heard of him HQing anything at all.

I have a "superstition" of facing south for HQ. I don't actually believe there's a game mechanics advantage to doing it, it's just superstition.

I'll admit to that, too. I face west for every synth. Doesn't matter the crystal, day, craft, or what I had for dinner, west is just the direction I always face.

It embarrasses the hell out of me (I'm afraid one day someone will say or assume I think directions matter), but I don't feel right if I don't face west. :/

Hence my point of 'comprehension,' in which he said right in the post he'd already done a long perusal of the forums and was trying to clear things up. Because anyone can go through the forums and after a while arguments like 'it doesn't work, you stupid idiot tard noob' don't really fully convince people anymore. Testings and stuff are at this point often just referred to by many people like we all have seen them, when you know the great majority of us just quote someone who heard it from someone who knew someone who was told something by the person who did the testing.
