    question for Maat's Cap people

I guess these days Maat's Cap is newbie lol but..

I'm approaching Maat's cap readiness, I've been xping away, only actually beat him way back when on my WHM, 1/1 yay but anyhoo my question is this

all are doable at 66? or are there certain jobs where certain spells or gear make/break the fight

ideally id do the remaining at 66 aside from my 75 smn mnk brd drk nin (uncapped afaik)

Re: question for Maat's Cap people

RDM is going to be damn hard at 66, the problem is whether sleep will stick (I went in with perfect gear at 66 for the hell of it, miserable fail) and you're stuck with Stone 3. At least get 67 for Water 3.

At 70, it's cake if you can follow a strat well and think on your toes. Somewhere in-between is definitely doable. 68 is Shell IV (meh). 69 is the magic level though, Aero 3 is a clincher.

edit: Yes the rest are uncapped. There's a video of a RDM75 going in and straight-up meleeing Maat, only sleeping during his chainspell. It was easy as pie. I believe all the fights at 75 will be easy.

Re: question for Maat's Cap people

ah, ya i knew the standard strat was sleep + ss + blink etc cs aero 3, shoulda checked what lvl that is

thf i might wait til 70 for the steal+3 hands (pretty sure theyre 70)

rdm was kinda my main concern, blm should be fine altho it might be funny to scrounge up some merits and try to AM2 1 shot him (im told this is possible)

thx for the advice, keep the protips comin if any there's other problem maats fights

I think you'll have about a 50/50 chance on RDM Maat at 67 with capped skills and pretty good gear, from my experience. I wouldn't recommend it at 66 with only Stone III unless you're Taru maybe, and even then you'd still get more Sleep resists.

Eh, AF hands is +1, won't be that big of a difference. Not sure if level matters in steal-rate at the Maat fight, though.
Also, I'd definitely go yellow HP, and use the cheap Rogue's Ring.

    And bring Reraise.

THF Maat was hell for me. I did it 3 times 66-69, then 5 at 70 with about 10~11 +steal. Each testimony I had 2 tries with reraise...never want to do a Maat again.

Good luck, if you have any questions I can ask my friend who has Maat's cap..he's always on.

dont aim for stealing vs maat. a thf can beat him pretty easily just meleeing him down. use flee when maat uses PD and use your pd for when you need to use potions and you're set.

Might suck to melee down at 66, though.

And yes, you can Reraise and try a second time. So bring two really, just in case.
(Also, I'm pretty sure you can't have a Warp Scroll in your inventory. Heard of someone trying with one, and he just didn't realize and kept failing. Lol.)

Edit: I'd say bring melee gear, but try to steal. If you fail at stealing, you can give it a shot. And if you die, you can always RR and try another steal.

this is actually encouraging, ive heard of 1/1 inspiring much hate and i've heard repeated 1/25+ and i remember Templeton soloing tonberries just outside temple for test (i really hope theres better mob types than tonberries that drop em ahah, smn kills so slow) so anyway, maybe ill just kick his butt and try to take his lunch money

gonna do thf last and say i stole his hat :rocl:

You steal Thief Tests, they don't "drop".

What I did, was just; Steal + Hide & AFK for 5 mins, etc. Did it outside of the Temple too.
IIRC you can pull the THF mob down, without going through the Temple itself, but meh.

You can't steal to win THF maat if it's not your first job fighting him.

SA+WS him then try to steal, if it fails, just kill him. Stealing first starts you off with less of an advantage. Also, you can't steal from him if you have beaten him on another job, only works first time around. Same with whm healing.

Not entirely true. If you can get to the deepest part of Den of Rancor, this dude can drop up to 2 at a time:

WHM can still go back and win with healing, even if its not your first job.

Re: question for Maat's Cap people

Stuff I did at 66 (in order of how difficult I felt they were for that level):

Dark Knight (he hit very hard; which made it hard to keep up spamming potions)
Ranger (You were screwed at 66 if you missed one of your shots/abilities pre-velocity shot)
Dragoon (he hit for 200 while his wyvern hit for 100 a hit)
Samurai (seigan and third eye made maat barely touch me)
Ninja (this one is a joke even without debuffs; just be sure to know you don't win when he blows up and you still have to defeat him; I almost lost because I quit playing after he blew up and realized things were still going once I got to red)
Thief (stacking evasion makes him miss you most of the time; I won w/ a time of 10:00 because we just sat there missing each other for the first 5 minutes when I used those +15 evasion latent blinded earrings w/ blinding potions; you don't need the earrings to win and they really are just overkill and will put you at great risk of running out of time)

Keep in mind that I did all these when 2-handers were buffed, which made maat hit extremely hard. Ranger was before velocity shot. Red Mage would definitely be do-able at 66 if you have merits into enfeeble (or just got extremely lucky w/ sleeps not getting resisted). I did at 67 on my 2nd character fairly easily and he had no merits at the time.

Re: question for Maat's Cap people

    drk was roughest of the melees for me cuz i used axes and /nin to level to 66. but had 8 enfeeble merits so i was able to bind him after 2 ws, use potions and then 2hr with m.kris for easy win <.<;

rdm might be rought but if you have whm 75 and you merited enfeeble at all it would help.

not like you couldn't get rdm from 66 to 75 in less than a week anyway.
