before the wings III (and the waves of 6 mobs, soulflayers, poroggos and co...), smn party destroy easily a full wave of mobs (or even 2 waves) with astral flow
Why is it hard to sleep mobs?
Haste bards (lol @ assigning a mage to hastes....when did hasting become hard), keep them alive, and make sure they dont suck
Kiting around sounds like an invitation for disaster, especially on the later floors.
can you elaborate on this? i'm trying to work something out to get my shell there but after a couple of 40 dark ele pops and whatnot, there's been a lot of demoralization towards the event in my shell. we surely have no shortage of smn (i'm sure we could muster 6, would that cover it?) and if we could grind out a handfull of quick, easy wins, even if the strategy doesn't scale up to the higher chambers, it's a good start and a good way to get morale/interest up.Originally Posted by Tachi
5 smn + 1 cor (smn and drg roll for the pet mag atk bonus)
Astral Flow x 5 = all mobs at 30~20% followed by a mix of sleepga / -ga III and it's done... it's reaaaally easy and so fast that you can pull a second wave of mobs with AF still ready
honestly Einherjar is usually easy before wings III
The problem with Einherjar is that you can't always go heavy on one spectrum of damage.
You can bring all the smns you want to wipe out the waves quickly, but when it's time for the boss, you might get screwed if you don't have enough melee damage especially if the boss is magic resistant.
You can bring all the BLMs you want to time spam -agas, but the same problem arises as above.
You can bring all the melee DD you want, but if you run into some melee resistant waves, you better chug on the boss (ghosts, bones, slimes, elementals come to mind).
We did every possible combo above on tier 1's, and it just didn't work out a lot of the times. We eventually said fuck it and went for balance, and we just beat our last two tier1's in about 18min and 11min. The former being a double wave and the latter being a single wave.
SMN burning isn't as useful when you get multiple waves (aka tier 3). And BLM burning is risky, although fun.
true but 5 smn is enough, more is useless
sometime we have only 3~4 smn on 36 pl and it's still ok
Today we did Grimgerde's with 29 people, last attempt at reflagging before odin on monday. Started with unsleepable dogs which we were dreading because they had wiped us twice in the past. Turns out they have basically no hp or def. We had a pld drop party, aggro, and kite (luckily no other waves were up) and just peeled one by one. finished all of them in ~9 minutes absolutely no problem. So yes, it appears dropping party does indeed work?
unrelated note, one wave of 12 demons popped after, then this popped after those (no boss was up afaik)

lol se ur funny
3 Waves in a Tier1? Think yer mistaken on the chamber.
Meant gerhilde, knew it started with a G. It was tier 3.
4 sets in tier3 is quite common, atleast for us and we managed to clear it with as low as 24 people np, as i stated before , BLU works really well in taking the stress of crowd control completely out of the pictureOriginally Posted by Leeto
I noticed you mentioned that earlier. Would you mind describing what the Blu would be doing?Originally Posted by Vishnevskiy
aoe stun and aoe sleepga (light based) If you have blus brds and whitemages, you have light based sleeps covered. If you have blackmages and redmages, you have dark based sleeps covered. If you have some of each you have all sleeps covered. hooray
