That's crazy talk. What do you kill on the first floor? We generally end up clearing the NW and SW wings [weapons ; ;], and most of the SE wing. I guess like...once we might have gotten only 3 HP or so, but usually we have more like 8. Sometimes I'm skipping mobs in that wing if we have a smallish group. If anyone is missing HP, we can usually pull 1-2 skeletons on 2F and get it...and if we STILL need some we'll probably get it while saving TP on the skeletons on 3F.Originally Posted by Zhais
Edited to remove bad smiley.
We almost always get at least 6 HP on first floor... are you skipping all of the skeletons on first floor? We only need to clear 1 skeleton wing to get HP for everyone, and can usually get a good amount of STR and INT cells while doing it.
Clear all skeles in SE wing, usually a few in NE wing if we need to kill brd lamia for magic
even with thf, hardly any hp or stat cells ever drop from skeles for us :\
edit: fixed sw and nw to se and ne >.>
When ever I have a bunch of people I'll clear some of the NW wing, and then all of the SE wing. Once we move over to the SW and NW wings we'll get a bunch of HP cells. I remember someone posting about killing one wing will increase the drop rate on the opposite wing, and from my experience that tends to be true. Lamia's also tend to drop a lot more after clearing one wing.
Anyone have a movie of floor 6 "7minutes to clear" with 6-9 persons please?
My group used to have difficulties, but nowadays we are good on popping them.
MNK/NIN x 2, THF, BRD, COR, RDM x 2 is our usual setup. (7 people)
I make it a point now to get MNKs STR on 1F and hands for THF (TH4). The ~10 min you spend here will be recovered later. Go after this just before port. DD with STR and without can mean a couple of minutes on 6F though it is not impossible to pop 6F without STR. Of course if you are lucky enough to get STR off the bones, then skip the Cactuar.
Cactuar - 2 str 2 agi 2 chr (harder hits, better BRD boosts, fixed drops so THF don't have to hang around)
Rampart - HP & Hands (TH4, best to have THF hit rampart a few times on this before making him run to the selected porter)
I also make it a point now to hit most of the ability giving Lamia/Merrow on 1F. Skipping the deepest one in the SW wing, that would be 5 of them. MNK first, COR next, THF after, then BRD. RDM before BRD if there is only 1 RDM. As a result of hitting them, we usually get full HP, all mages MP, most people weapons, ability and magic which is why we can move really quickly in the later floors. Oh, and do remember to give your main tank SJ. Cactuar will be a nightmare if you don't have a tank.
Bring holy waters (don't leave home without one stack of them), go NE wing and clear all the bhoots and any extras as required. You should get around 2 earrings at least unless your luck is really bad. If not everyone has earrings, port up NE. If everyone has it, go up somewhere else.
All in all, we spend around 30-40 min on 1F(there was a couple of times we spent 50 min so we skipped 3F), 5-6 min on 2F, 15 min on 3F (or skip if time short after 1F, sometimes cells can be that bad), 10 min on 4F, 15 min 5F, 10 min 6F, and 10 min boss. The times don't add up to 100 min. Just time accordingly to your cell drop rate that day.
Before we port to 6F, bard SV and buffs MNKs after all cells from Chariot are distributed and used. Our mnks will 2 hour ramparts in the hopes they won't summon trees. COR will reset 2 hours when they 2 hour and they will 2 hour again if they get it back.
Gear-wise, we don't have any relic holders and only 1 of the mnks have BB so removing the salvage gears that we already have, we are a relatively average group.
Im in tymoras group, just to add, when we have a monk 2 hour one of the ramparts its nice to have that 2 hour carry over to a triple gear or 2. Killing the triple gears fast like that adds a bunch of time and saves MP too. But most of the time the 2 hour carries over into killing the tree the rampart tends to pop more often than not before it dies, and that helps just as much getting those down fast. I was convinced it was impossible for a long time with same group, but doing it that way we kill top floor in 4 or 5 min usually, cor or not.
you can get rings, str and various armors drop from the tripple gears and rampart (and their pets) in the chariot room (flayer side). It's nice to clear this room before porting up, if you are not doing boss or if you got time. That's if you were unlucky on bhoots and 1f skelly.
Where do people camp for this? Run to one side? Just stay at entry porter and sleep magic aggro?
Does anyone still try to do this with BLM Fanatic's Drink+Manafont -ga spam?
Camp depend on where the closest gear is when we port up. DD run to closest gear and that becomes camp as RDM goes and pulls for us.
At first we tried the Fan drink, blm manafont aga them and that sucked ass, so we went back to the other strat and always kill in plenty of time.
I think 2 BLM could probly keep every gear on the entire foor asleep with ease, and if not then you may not be giving enough gear to them. Although I think our group is in the minority which relies on BLM's. almost all beneficial gear cells are tanks > BLM's for us. With AF body and Igqira head/legs you can be reasonably sure you will always get sleep unresisted. Bards sometimes have more trouble sleeping them.Originally Posted by Zhais
I don't skip any abilty lamia.. I have the group move on while rdm + 1 mnk go to kill the lamia that are deep south on the qutub side.
Our group usually enter with:
P1- MNKx2, DRG BRD WHM RDM
P2- THF PUP RDM
Soulvoice buff before moving up to 6th floor, engage the nearest rampart immediately and sleep any nearby single or triple gears. Both RDMs pull gear with gravity and sleep them at camp. Always make sure there are 2 gears slept at camp all the time.
