If you want a torque really bad just go BLM and bring shittons of RR(or a WHM) and Bio > Die > Bio > Die. With the occasional nuke.
Thanks for the replies.
2nd stage weaken does no damage when nuking. DOTS still work.
This post is pretty accurate. I've duo'd it rdm/nin (with w.legs, of course) and smn/whm. Basically the smn would blood pact occasionally to help take it down faster (although he almost always got hate and died right after, lol.) Basically as rdm you can hold it for a LONG time by yourself, as long as you don't get an unlucky breakga.Originally Posted by pendragoon
Basically just outrun Stonega and Breakga. Slowga sucks ass because it's fast so not only do you have to recast shadows, but you also don't get much distance, so usually after a slowga JoF will get close enough to hit shadows before he casts something else (unless you're lucky). A bad slowga means you'll probably have to gravity soon.
Gravity resistance does build fairly fast, I would say wait at least 5-10 minutes between Gravities if possible. Other than that just kite and DoT. If you're duoing with 2 rdmsyou could probably bounce hate if you each stood on opposite ends of the hole and use a strategy similar to the one posted for Jailer of Temperance duo. If you're the only "tank", then basically just keep up utsusemi first, stoneskin second, refresh 3rd. 50% of the time when I have duo'd or trio'd this (or the times I tried solo, lol, 79% then got breakga'd ><) the only 2 effects I had on were slow and utusemi. 35% I had those 2 and stoneskin, and 15% of the time I had refresh.
Basically it's a matter of not getting bored running for a long time, and not getting unlucky.
This can easily be triod down in 10 mins by 2 RDM/NIN and a BLM/RDM. Redmages can hold hate easily even without enmitty gear.
It's 30min, or more than 15 at least. They changed it when they changed Ix'drk's "???".
Pro kiting tip: start casting blizzard 3 right when the other RDM runs by, its the best way to ping-pong hate while maintaining proper distance to kite. From my experience he runs at +12% movement so when you need to have a good distance on him when you pull hate. If your too close expect it to run with you and wipe your shadows pretty fast.
Also with bar-petra/stone/shell and all the resist petrify job traits I was able to resist breakga about 50% of the time. If you do get petrified make sure you use a -dmg% macro to give the other RDM enough time to get hate off with cure IV.
Nah it's definitely more than +12% movement speed. Maybe not 25%, but definitely above 12. At the very least I'd say 20% or so. Breakga can be resisted fairly easily, but it still strips shadows, and allows the Jailer a good amount of time to catch up to you, so even if it doesn't immediately kill (or petrify) you, it'll still make things a bit more difficult until it casts Stonega III or Stone IV.
Disclaimer: I'm not sure which is more forbidden, Necro-bumping something or creating a new thread with information that's been previously discussed. I've chosen the former, but please feel free to flame me if necessary so that I can choose correctly in the future.
I took 4 linkshell members to Jailer of Faith tonight on a low man attempt. Party setup was Pld/Nin Blm/Nin Rdm/Nin Rdm/Nin. We pulled JoF to the room with the hole in the center directly across from the ??? spawn and used a similar formation to Jailer of Temperance low man setup. Each of us stood on a platform, Rdms across from each other and Blm | Pld across from each other.
We popped twice and failed both times. The problems we were running into were -aga spams and heavy hits. Shadows were getting ripped down by Breakga Stonega and Slowga which were appearing often. That paired with him hitting for up to 400+ damage made the wipe pretty swift. Any comments or suggestions on how we can improve?
Actually, your primary offense is number 3: putting rocl's face in a DRG AF headOriginally Posted by Gaborn
You don't stand around, you kite and use the corners to make sure you're 30+ away from it, you shouldn't eat more than a couple spells.
Would you mind being a bit more specific...Originally Posted by Tythera
Are we in the correct room?
How is it possible to kite when its moving faster than we are?
Where do people stand who do not currently have hate?

I would say no because you wouldn't be avoiding many if any spells at all which would be horrible. I can outrun breakga 90% of the time (PLD with W. Legs) and Stonega III doesn't ever go off unless I'm petrified or slept from Stupor Spores. Minimal would be 2 very skilled players preferably both RDM/NINs, I personally liked doing it RDM/NIN BLU/NIN SMN/NIN because Garuda can hold hate of Faith for a bit giving people a break. Only use gravity when necessary (I.e. if it's going to get melee hits off)Originally Posted by Sanjiyan
Now SCH can Stona-ga the entire party every 60 seconds (plus starts out with 4 charges and has a 2hr to refill them).Originally Posted by Vryali
My understanding is that SCH can stona-ga a party from outside the party, which I think is what you're really looking for.
Edit: Not that the party will be close enough to each other to warrant an -aga most of the time.
So with that in mind (Stonaga), would it be more efficient to just use SCH in this fight instead of WHM for a trio?
Well chances are when Breakga goes off not everyone's gonna get Stoned, so you wouldn't need Stona-ga as often as you might think. And the recast on Stona isn't exactly horrible. I mean if you have a SCH friend who wants to do this, by all means, bring them, but a WHM would be fine, I'm sure. If you can find any resist petrify gear ... or even put up Barstone and Barpetrify when you can, that would also be beneficial. Of course.
Should be a fun and challenging fight. Let us know how it goes and like someone else said, Fraps it if you can. I'd love to see it.
