    Re: (Dynamis) Triggering Monsters 2HR

    Thanks for the comments.
So, from what I read, I guess the chance that mob uses his 2 HR

    1. depends on it's acutal HP (chance to 2HR is higher, the lower the HP is).
    2. depends on the damage spike that's done with weaponskills, nukes, summoner abilitys, possible withing a certain time. (possibly a WS has a chance of X% to trigger the 2HR. Possible some weird fomula like: (100-MonsterHP%)+(Damage dealt/300) = Chance to trigger 2HR in %), Formular differs from Job to Job.
    3. depends on status effects done to the mob (limiting a Monsters possibility to spent time with things like spell casting may cause a higher chance to make it use 2 HR).

Also, never kill pet before BST; a resummoned mob that drops nothing is a huge waste of time.
They don't resummon pets instantly - there's a timer on it (I think it's 60 seconds before they can resummon a pet) , so if you kill the pet immediately and then the master immediately after, the BST's familiar will instead charm someone, it's hilarious to get people charmed

If your group sucks though then they're just gonna have another pet pooped out and "omgz paralyga waaa". (Btw, <3 repose for Vanguard hecteyes).

    Re: (Dynamis) Triggering Monsters 2HR

Some NMs have weird 2hr behvaior, outside Dynamis. Lately i've been duo'ing/trio'ing alot of VVs, and she will Meikyo Shisui at completely random times. For example, 2 days I go, I used Poison II only til 90%, and my first Thunder III made her use her 2hr. On other days, I can nuke 8 or 9 times, with Poison II's tossed in there, and only around 50% will she 2hr. And yet other days, anywhere between 100-50%. The only thing I can think of is it's reactive to large chunks of damage in one shot, as the time she 2hr'd on my first nuke was Thundersday/2x Thunder Weather. Other times in the past, when we had 4 or 5 people there, I would walk in to Chainspell her to force the 2hr, solo, and it'd often go off during the 2nd or 3rd nuke.

If you're not unloading on WHMs you're wasting time in Dynamis. It's very easy to kill a WHM before it has a chance to 2hr, and every 15 seconds you save means something unless you clear out the entire area with time to spare. I run with 25-30, so we only manage to fully clear Bastok usually, come pretty close to San d'Oria / Windurst and a little ways from Jeuno but decently close.
I'm not saying NOT to unload on WHMs. But if you have a WHM and a NIN mob on the same pull, where are your zerging priorities going to lie?

I know for a FACT my ls cannot possibly be organized enough to stun a NIN's 2hr in dynamis intentionally, and weve done several hundred runs together, yet we dont wipe, is it really anything a curaga2 cant fix? We don't draw huge numbers to events either, so its not like i'm saying need to rush with 64 pplz.
    Then again i have little to no idea about what goes on in the BLM PT's either, apart from sitting next to one for the last few years too... maybe we have one blm assigned to that sort of thing, but i highly doubt it ^^;

As for MNK mobs, we have a trusted RDM BLM and NIN trigger and sleep one when there are multiples, or have a pally voke and sentinel. Laughter ensues.

For NM mobs sure theres a bit more order, but really ....
No. You don't try to stun the 2hr like you were stunning GoH etc, you stun the mob then kill it fast before it gets a chance to act. One stun may not do it, but you have a certain time frame where you can stun over and over and be relatively safe.

I have never ever seen a dynamis ninja mijin before it drops below 30%. Never. Almost all ninja mobs work this way: in limbus, when fighting tonberry nms, when fighting the mamool cascendence bcnm, etc.

Freakish 4000 damage mijins happen when someone triggers a benediction after the ninja drops below 30%.

ahhhh... point. this is likely what caused our wipes when we were manaburning. we triggered a whm's benediction in time with the nin's mijin which made for a toasty taru brigade.

I don't understand, you mean all your parties don't have a WHM(or RDM) *and* a SMN? wtf

    Re: (Dynamis) Triggering Monsters 2HR

I know this is only tangentially related, but even though it's well known that mobs don't fire off WS at exactly 100TP until they hit ~20%, it seems that mobs are more likely to "randomly" use WS (when well above that threshold) if they just lost a lot of HP.

I know that on most expish mobs, Barrage triggers a retaliatory WS like clockwork, even if it only took them to ~50%.

WHM - 0~20%, if taking too long to kill; killing fast will cause it to not Benediction, even without stuns.
RDM - 50%-75%; doesn't really matter for most cases, the RDM should be silenced anyway, I believe the Xarcabard NMs are immune to silence, but that can easily be fixed with heavy melee damage and stuns.
BLM - 50%-75%; again, long as it's silenced, this 2h has no threat at all, and for Xarcabard when they are immune to silence, just have the BLM, DRK, BLU and/or RDM/DRK to watch it with Stun.
THF - 20~50%, usually tries to 2hr right around 50%, could use same tactic as NIN, stun and WS spam the last 50%, works pretty well in cities when monsters are weak.
PLD - 20~50%, usually tries to 2hr right around 50%, could use same tactic as NIN, stun and WS spam the last 50%, works pretty well in cities when monsters are weak.
DRK - 50%-75%; it can hurt, but it is absorbed by shadows anyway; until the smart BLM overnuke and feed 200+ HP a drain to the NM *raises hand*.
    BRD - 80~95%, but lolSV.
RNG - 20~50%, almost impossible to avoid unless you instantly kill it during a single stun.
BST - 50%-75%; kill pet 1st, and if it uses 2h before resummoning pet, you get to kill your tank.
    SAM - 50~80%, I think.
NIN - 0~20%, if taking too long to kill.
DRG - 80-95%, similar to a MNK, almost always right when damage is dealt.
SMN - 0~50%, they are weak so it's very easy to prevent 2hr at all by WSing @ 50%. I noticed they seem to 2hr about 2-3 seconds after reaching 50%
Just finishing the list for Wizerd, not much else to add really. All from my experience really, and numbers may vary when you stunned it at the right time.

Safest bet is always "TP at 50% with everyone spamming stun on it", and it really surprised me that this thread got to page 2... Well, I do like the idea of triggering MNK's 2h by nuke+sleep, guess I will try it next Dienamis.

RNGs are 70% (I think thfs are 70% too, been a while since i last did dynamis)

    Re: (Dynamis) Triggering Monsters 2HR

one thing that occurs to me, is that aern's application of their bracelets are somewhat similar. hear me out before you dismiss me as crazy. i've manaburned aern more than i'd like to think and it's fairly consistent that after a nuke volley hits an aern in the face, they will often apply bracelets as their very first action, however spike damage is not their only means of getting access to bracelets. even if the mob is dozing waiting for my aspir timer or me to rest MP, it can still slap bracelets on. this indicates to me that there are several potential triggers for them to apply their bracelets, and it seems to me that this concept might extend to dynamis mobs, even if the result is totally different.

dyna mobs have access to their 2 hr at a certain hp range. there's no question or doubt about that. my assertion based on the aforementioned possible parallel, is that they may use it on a timer or they might instead choose to use it after they get plastered with a big hit after they reach the HP threshold. as several people have mentioned before, stun and blast the shit out of a nin or a whm is still the way to go, i'm not advocating a radical change in strategy on an untested theory, but the more we understand about the game, the more we can make apt conjectures about other facets of it. learning for the sake of learning if you will.
