The next FINAL FANTASY XI version update is scheduled to take place in early March. We are currently planning to introduce brand new quests and areas to supplement the Wings of the Goddess expansion pack. Adjustments and tweaks will also be made to a host of elements such as Campaign battles and other battle related items.

Details regarding the above additions and changes will be released in the near future.

With all my Japanese knowledge, I still can't figure out how "January" translates to "Early March" to them.

Looks like we are getting access to the Beastmen Capitals. I wonder if they will be normal campaign areas, not campaign areas at all, or special campaign areas.

Also, damn at it coming out near SSBB launch. What's even more painful, a half-year ago I thought I would have the same problem with WotG launch.

I always expected the update to be around late Feb so i guess its just a few more weeks after. but gdi i want my SCH AF and BLU spells already, and bored of campaign D:

Actually, I looked around and couldn't find anywhere that they said "Jan", but I need it to make my joke. D=

In any case, I don't really care how big the update will be, but as long as my jobs all get something new to play with(if it's bad, I can always rant to my friends after.), i.e. Kick Stance, BLM's timewarp, RDM's en-spells... and even though I don't play SMN, the elemental-MP update sounds interesting to me for various reasons.

I would SWEAR that they said "January Update" at fan fest, but after looking through a couple blogs from the event all I can find are "next version update" when mentioned.

Battle related items could be lolAVenfeebles. Who knows. Be nice for them to announce new relics so I'd have a real excuse to do Nyzul I suppose.

judging from both the description and the pictures, it's :
- New Areas for WoTG
- New AF for new job
- some items restyle (relics. yawn)
- MAYBE some battle change, aka MAYBE job adjustments.


I see no new Avatar (diabolos was there), no relic armors for ToAU, no WoTG NPCs so no new storylines probably. I fear SE might think the addition of DNC/SHC limit BC and AF should be considered "satisfying content after 3 months", but i SO hope to be proven wrong.

i think they way they worded that phrase is confusing... just read it as

i'm personally hoping that this is the "notorious monster patch"... them not mentioning "we're also adding a slew of new notorious monsters" makes me weary, but i have hope.

I don't think they are 100% sure about what's going to fit into the update yet, and that's probably why they are so vague.

When they say "items" they mean events, battlesystems, battlefields, battle mechanics, anything... but equipment or things that go into your inventory.
