Hard enough for people to see my armor already as a small taru.
Plus, with full str merits and say 5/5 RSM or whatever I could hit 76 Str, which would rawk.

I would only approve of race merits if I could still merit along the Elvaan path even though I'm already Elvaan... becoming some sort of SUPER Elvaan.
Well, I think the elvaan would be like Int for Str or something, for the Blm's.
Whereas I have Int coming out of my ass, which I'd gladly trade tuesday for another flame ring today.
Racial merits could be like RSE accessory items. Tail ribbons, visible jewelery, tattoos, etc. Shouldn't be -that- hard to make some modifications to base body model for each race.
With stats of course, not just cosmetic.
Rather than make 'em like x number of merits each, maybe award them with a given number of merits. Could maybe just make them enhance things across the board, like an Ambrosia lite with +2 or 3 to everything.
Having selectable pro/con racial bonuses would be nice, but maybe a bit more work to implement.
PS2 limitations, etc.Originally Posted by Isiolia

The whole fact that you picked the race you are is the distinguishing factor of high/low stats, if a taru could get as much str as an elvaan, we might as well have no races at all.
Definitely not true. Races aren't only stats, people choose their race due to purely cosmetical reasons many times. I know i did, i couldn't care less if my race was gonna be the best or the worst melee. Fact is that in this game races are even less important in what refers to stats. Sure, your Elvaan will parse 5% higher than some other Taru with the same gear, but lucky for us not all events are merit parties where your melee performance is about as complicated as engaging and turning your head to watch your favorite show while the monster dies.Originally Posted by Koyangi
My point being that there's meany reasons apart from numbers to want having a specific model type. The idea of racial fixes isn't bad, tbh, and it's pretty easy to implement for them.
Way i see it, the most likely changes that will happen to this game will be numerical changes, so to say. Things that modify stats, that require little intrusion to the base of the game. Things like "I wan't to see my bow on my back!", "I want to change my hair style!" and stuff like that are probably never going to happen. Blame will go to "PS2 limitations", although everyone should know by now that it's more like "We don't want to spend the time in that".
If you ask me, an update where i could change my hairstyle and color whenever i wanted would make me happyI know some will think "DAT mod your face... duh" and yes, this is what i end up doing, but it's a fake change since everyone else will see the old model and as such it loses a lot. Accept it or not, one of the reason people get new and better gear is to show it and share it with their in game friends (and i guess make other jealous too?). More personal costumization would be great and it is, ofcourse, possible, but it most likely requires some core changes to their code, changes they are not willing to make.
Novel concept, but if you picked your race for purely aesthetic reasons ignoring the stats (to some of which it does matter) then you should have come to terms with the fact that your stats never will match up to the next person. Just like those of us who picked galka and elvaan get to deal with the dumb jokes because we didn't want to be the type of character to get 3 shotted by anything harder than a decorative weapon, or those who picked mithra get the jokes because theyre off browsing interspecies erotica or cybering for dynamis currency.Definitely not true. And those of us who picked hume because everything else looked freaking weird.
And humes don't? Look at that chain-smoking wheezing that goes on when we're just standing still. And those of us who picked hume because everything else looked freaking weird.

I picked Hume because it was the jack-of-all-trades race, to match my main of RDM which I *thought* was the jack-of-all-trades job. So in a sense, I had come to terms with not being the best in anything back when I decided to play my character in a way that didn't particularly excel in anything.

Here is an idea:So, what part of the update will be pushed back 1 month? I'm calling a delay on a new type of AN BC they might add.
Tournament
Individual players can challange NPCs from their home nation to fight in a Brenner style event. It would cost different amounts of AN and increase in difficulty of opponent and value of rewards. They could tie it into war-time preparations and such. You could possibly tie it into rank/evaluation systems as well. Maybe a possible solution to some rare items that people are always fighting over *cough3kingscough*
Anyways, just bored at work and thinking about something different for the game.
~Cheers~
=D yay finaly something about the update.

I think SE should add more merit options....I dunno, something like increasing WS damage and accuracy....or even adding a whole new WS via merits. Since they've said they never plan on raising the lev cap they need to add more ways to enhance your characters at 75, besides gear.
I'd kinda like to have to JS merits include combat/magic skills of the A-/A+ variety, I have my combat merits capped at the moment and because of this I didn't want to level another melee job because I just feel so weak without them, it would be nice to be able to cap out scythe specifically for DRK and katana for NIN etc.
Hm...
Totally missed this, darn you Philadelphia and Avenue Q awesome show!
Took em this long, I'm thinking.... BLU/COR/PUP AF2 from Einherjar, DNC/SCH AF1, 2 more WoTG missions, and if we keep our ***everything*** crossed, they might give us chocobos to use in the past (which IMO, would win the update, I refuse to do missions back then...walking sucks!)
Oh, forgot Nyzul relics that barely don't replace current ones. =P
I predict 4 mission. 2 BCs and 2 long CSs.Originally Posted by A-Chaos
