Yea, much like not being able to say bomb in an airport. It doesn't mean it's a bad thing.
Oh wow, the two are completely related. Preventing groups of people from airing negative ads is just like preventing someone from yelling fire in a crowded theatre. Wow.

It's ok, they can just fund 527 groups instead.
Which can't advocate the defeat or election of a candidate.

They can still air negative ads, they can't make it about specific candidates but instead must keep it about the issue they care about.

That's like entire point of campaign finance reform. Because elections shouldn't be about who has the most money to spend, but rather who best represents the views of the people.

Is thinking that difficult for you? The damn point is that everything need not be protected by the first amendment. Are your abilities to put two and two together terribly damaged or somewhat? It must be, since you completely missed where the fucking relation was.

I suspect that Swampy isn't actually all that concerned with the free speech rights of corporations within 90 days of an election, and just mentions that "well, it's still a restriction on free speech" in order to continue to be "correct" in his earlier assertion while backpedaling away from his stance that the McCain-Feingold act is a travesty.

Just because something affects less people doesn't make it any less of a travesty.

The damn point is that any speech that doesn't harm someone else and isn't untrue need be protected by the first amendment.

You admitted that you are less anti-McCain-Feingold because it doesn't affect individuals whose speech is constitutionally protected. I'd argue that that means you consider it less of a travesty.

You have quite a fight on your hands - start with laws banning cigarette advertising on television and radio since 1970.

Apparently getting fired and sued doesn't count, though.

    Final delegate count:
    Code:
    Barack Obama 838
    Hillary Clinton 834
    John Edwards 26
Clinton supposedly has more superdelegates going into super tuesday (pundits said 80 delegate advantage), but that probably changed after yesterday.

McCain is gonna get the nomination for sure, and the Dems are going to be fighting it out up until the convention. Reminds me of last election in the West Wing.

I saw different numbers than that earlier today, something like 1050 for Hillary and 960 for Barack. Are they still updating some results from super tuesday or something?

Hmm, let me rephrase. It's a comfortable feeling to know that if I wanted to I could still talk about a candidate.

Isn't the intention of that to keep companies from advertising harmful products to minors? The two are different to me.

    Re: Super Tuesday

I think it lacks the humor that the socialist one does. Your's kinda makes sense. The "sense of history" lobe would be bigger because Republicans believe in the constitution and are always citing history. "Keeping money that you earn area" should be that big because that's a fundamental belief etc etc. Your's just seems to lack the same humor. I'm sure you or someone else could find a better one.

Edit: The addicted to talk radio thingy did make me lol a little bit though.

Even though you make some incorrect generalizations ("Republicans believe in the constitution and are always citing history" lol) you are right, it isn't as funny.

CNN has it at Clinton 823 - Obama 741
Fox News has it at Clinton 1024 - Obama 933
MSNBC has it at Clinton 855 - Obama 861

I originally used MSNBC numbers but its changed already in the meantime. I think they are counting differently, perhaps including publicly pledged superdelegates? Either way, looks like no one can agree on a hard count yet.

    Re: Super Tuesday

I read that it depends if you count the guaranteed delegates in the total. The lower counts represent counts that didn't include the delegates that aren't guaranteed. The higher counts represent counts that included the delegates that aren't guaranteed.

    Re: Super Tuesday

My New York Times from this morning had the delegate count at Hillary: 892, Obama: 716.

There is obviously some guess work going on because every source is giving something a little different. Stems back to not having winner take all races I guess.

I had that thought as well today. Look forward to McCain as Secretary of State under Obama or something, haha.

I think he would make a decent choice! haha (experience-wise, too bad he rubs so many people the wrong way)

The parallels are kind of eerie, although Hillary is no Bob Russell. Older GOP candidate who isn't loved by his own party, Dems split, insurgent younger ethnic candidate. I miss that show

On top of just being a fantastic show, it exemplified the way American politics should be. I miss it too.
