Think of it this way--at least getting the fire crystals back will give you a head start on funding a new relic. :D

All of it. For getting "hacked," for honestly expecting anything to come of it, for whining about it on a forum with the rest of them, for telling a GM they quit the game as if they care, et cetera et cetera et cetera. It's funny. It made me laugh. 0 sympathy. I honestly thought the GM was joking for a sec there or just not done listing. Humor at others' expense.

Well, I can't exactly laugh at the OP for getting hacked. Since I don't think this is one of those cases where they handed out their PW.

This probably has something to do with that huge hacking thing that was going on recently (don't know all the details, neither I nor anyone I know well got hacked, so I didn't care too much).

If they handed out their PW to someone and got jacked for it, then I have no sympathy either.

    Re: Item Restoration "Service"??

    I really don't understand what's happened there.

    1. GMs can check all AH sales and trades.

    2. That should be sufficient proof of ownership hence the "abused" character deserves their items back.

    3. The GMs have a //itemmake <insert item #><insert player><insert inv. location> or however it goes, function, so what is it? can they not be arsed typing all the restore command out or can't find their list or all the games item names as they left it in the john?

Seriously when it comes to customer service, SE are about as fair to players as Celine Dion is fair to music.

The way I understand it you'd get all that back because it was dropped not sold. That's what I'm assuming happened here, those items were sold, while the worthless junk was just dropped.

    Which brings us to this:

What do you expect SE to do if they were sold? Take them back from the person that bought them because someone said they were hacked? Then we'd have posts on this board complaining about how people got the Herald's Gaiters they got for a decent price taken back from them and how they'll never get that good of a price again and that they'll be quitting now. The whole situation is pretty terrible, but assuming that they actually got sold and not dropped, then there isn't anything SE can really do about it.
Or create a brand new item for you so the system can be abused? Your best friend could always "hack" you, put some items on AH, buy those same items for low low prices and then when it's restored BAM! You have two of everything. It sucks, but I don't there is anything they can really do.
Bullshit dont defend SE, thats the reason why they call it:

    one-time item restore

    Re: Item Restoration "Service"??

GM should be able to track where the gil from those sales went and then give it back to the victim, that way no items would be getting "duped" by fake hacks because its the same gil taken by the hacker, and the real victims could buy all their crap back. but i dont even know if thats possible (the taking gil from somebody part)

GMs can pull gil/items out of players inventory when they are not logged in to the game and/or POL at all.

Those pretty obviously are items the hacker dropped as soon as they stole to account to make more room for your good items to trade/sell as quickly as possible. If you all thought you were going to get your characters back completely restored, then I feel sorry for you...

This question is to the two above posters, but isn't meant to be a flame.

Its a one-time restore, so the GMs will be doing work for you they'll never have to do again.

Im sure that they can do more than just offer what they currently are, the issues about duplicating items and/or restoring r/ex items have pros and cons but im sure they can do better than this. Billions are syphoned outta the community monthly thanks to the STF and the fact that SEs process of 'recovering' accounts takes months means unless your ready to camp the stars getting duplicated items isnt going to just happen overnight like many think. Its been what? Almost 3months since this hit the scene and im sure less than 1% of people got back their accounts, representatives are saying that the process could take another 2weeks from when you send in the notary form?

You would make an excellent GM.

If this crock of shit happened to me, I'd drop this like a rock. Paying a company for a monthly service and then getting blatantly slapped in the face = they no longer get my money.

    Re: Item Restoration "Service"??

Well, GM's *have* tracked down stolen goods from people's inventories in the past and removed them. Say, a item was taken unfairly in a trade (venomous claw for a synth) and then bazaared and bought by someone else. It has been taken by a GM and the 3rd party who innocently purchased from bazaar doesn't get refunded.

When ffxiah.com is able to maintain an AH history, are you guys saying that SE can't?

*The item was sold to an NPC.
Like others have said, the listed items were likely either NPC'd or dropped. The item restoration policy does not currently cover traded items or items sold on the auction house (for obvious reasons regarding abuse stated in previous posts) so the big ticket items sold can't be recovered as the policy stands. If SE amended the policy to include traded/sold items in the case of a hijacked account, then GMs would be allowed to act; it's not a matter of ability. GMs are not gods within the game that can show either compassion or disdain for a player when they see fit. They need to follow the policies handed to them or they risk losing their jobs, so please stop misplacing the blame with them and start giving constructive feedback on how to amend the policy.

Tired of seeing people calling SE lazy and the like because someone can't get their items back, etc. A month ago you wouldn't even have a shot at getting your account back at all, so SE is obviously working to create and amend policies to remedy the situation. These things take time to implement. Instead of looking at it all with the "give it to me my way now" mentality of a 13 year old, try working in customer service and maybe you'll see how it works.

I can't believe I actually thought SE would do something right about this for a change. This is just amazingly... ugh... There is no emoticon for what I am feeling!

    Oh, wait, there we go...

Anyway, I can guarantee that if this had ever happened to me, I wouldn't stand for it, either. That is ridiculous to a whole new level. Who the hell even thinks this stuff up at SE? "Ok ok... We get their account back, right? Then... we restore their items!" "Sir, that's a great idea!" "Yes, restoring the dropped items will make us appear very generous." "Sir, what about the auctioned items...?" "Very generous. *nod*"

Don't take SE's ability to take users for for ...

In a way, I do work in the service industry, and I'm not expecting anything different than the people who call me (i.e. "expecting the world")

The whole idea of "it's been broken for 4 years so you should be ok with slow change" doesn't settle with me. Don't be an apologist, if you ask for the world you're more likely to effect more of a change than if you don't.

This dude's point is that you can't blame SE for getting hacked in the first place. It is your fault and nobody else's except the douches who create the viruses for dupes like the op. Now you can blame SE for their account management system and their inability to get those accounts back to the rightful owner as well.

I think the issue with SE not returning the sold items is that it could be so easily abused, and probably would be. Friend creates mule account, "hacks" your account and sells all the gear, you call SE who then resets the pw and returns all your gear, while in turn your friend splits the sold gear gil with you and you are 25 mil richer now than before.
