    Re: Item Restoration "Service"??

Regarding the "soulbound" items, I don't play WoW, but I think there are two types. Bind on pick up, which is like the R/EX items we have now, and bind on equip. Unless the NPC sell prices were variable according to AH prices I don't see bind on equip working in FFXI's economy.

The point was that SE isnt going to let you dupe items as easy as ordering off HSN like he made it seem, its not gonna be an overnight affair - try months.

Not to mention if SE sees you crying wolf off a level 1 character its a red flag and if you cry off multiple 75s you run the risk getting them banned all over a kclub.

Which, still, would be a duped kraken club. It doesn't matter how long it takes.

At what cost? Camping SE for 2months only to hear your pal got banned with the original? In order to actually get away with it you'd have to mimic RMT, going to great distances to cover your ass - and you still might end up getting banned with the item.

Its a bad idea for the long-term, but for the people affected already its not a rediculous notion to do it. They dont have access to their accounts to run a scam anyways and thats where my arguement is coming from.

Contrary to what your tunnel visioned crusading in light of your galpal getting her shit jacked has caused you to believe, there are more than RMT that steal accounts/items and SE would be more than retarded to limit item restoration to that taken by chinamen. Furthermore the problem is that account stealers do not get banned, the friend wouldn't have to "mimic rmt" or put their account in danger for it to happen.

The "cost" of time is irrelevant, a kraken or hell even a relic worth of dynamis currency would need to be duped once for it to be irreversibly abused.

They should just bite the bullet and recover the sellable items, abuse or not. Introducing those items back into the game even if duplicates would cause less damage then everyone who will quit over it.

Alright this might have gone around but here is what converstations that I just had with two SE reps and their supervisor to verify.

For those that have lost multiple items here you go.

They will be restoring items that are thrown out, sold, etc in the game logs they have. So they will be restoring any lost items that were lost and they can track it in the game logs.

I also asked about the 1 item per character policy. He stated this is the exception. If it's in the game logs as lost; it will be restored.

I asked what about if they sold something on the AH on another server/or current server for example "Bone harness+1" was the example I used (don't ask me why hehe). He said no items will be taken back from players that bought said item off AH, BUT a GM will restore said item to the player IF and ONLY if it's in the game logs.

    SERVER Restoration.

When a player regains access to his/her account, you can apply for server migration "FREE OF CHARGE" to the orgainal server that it was previously on before the compromised account was taken from orginal owner.

Sorry didn't ask about any gil related restoration but here hope at least.

Sorry for grammer trying to get this out as fast as possible.

We're arguing semantics over something we both know could be abused, my arguement was that it wasnt feasible due to SEs nature for being slow, incompetent and stupid. Your taking my arguement over someone arguing restorals would be as easy as 'point n click' and making it seem like i agree every request to 'fix a character' should be honored.

My real arguement is that SE could easily reverse people affected already without fear someones going to cheat the system, simply putting a few new duplicate items back into the economy isnt going to stop the already crumbling market from falling on its head. You'd satisfy the people waiting on end for months and you'd get the pay from them when they fall back in line.

Crusade? Im afraid its all just a matter of common sense - security for people that play, reversal for all those accounts SE has been 'investigating' and actually addressing the hacking issue to prevent it from happening again, none of which have happened.

I love it when people try to rebut something by coming up with unlikely and rare circumstances that are one in a million odds. Yea, you're right, it won't work to dupe because RMT won't spend countless hours doing mind numbingly tedious shit!!!

    YES!

    THEY WILL NEVER DO THAT!

And if we all subscribed to your belief that the main issue is RMT, since when have they exactly been opposed to slow, tedious, and retarded shit for a guaranteed profit?

If you're going to establish off the bat that you didn't read jack shit why should I be remotely compelled to type anything substantial just for it to get the same treatment. There doesn't need to be a solution. You think 1 person getting their shit jacked and subsequently obviously quitting makes SE blink? Let's face it, for as much as you're ready to fire up the torches and pitchforks none of you have the discipline to actually stop playing until it happens to you. Aside from their reversing the following transactions there's not much they can do.

The only people for whom the current system doesn't work is...people dumb enough to get hacked and have their shit stolen.

I'd love for someone to propose a workable, effective solution that is 1: efficient, and would not require hundreds of GMs to spend all day tracking down a stack of wind crystals from 10 buyers, 2: entirely unexploitable (as the current system is), and 3: fair to everyone on the server.

Those of you seem to have the problem with the current system have the burden of trying to fix it. It is not OUR obligation, those of us that think it works, to propose a fix. <_<

It would have worked had it been implemented from the start. That was my point, not whether it would work now. And you are right about the 2 types of binds.

    Re: Item Restoration "Service"??

I didn't get hacked. Nobody in my linkshell got hacked. Nobody I even know got hacked. But I'm also not enough of an SE homer to think that the current system is adequate.

It's none of our obligations to devise a perfect solution. It's the understood responsibility of the company to at least try, and to act like they give 2 shits about their customers. Like you and I have both said before though, until people stop paying said company money every month, it's hypocritical and naive to think that anything will be changed. It's pretty much the reason why I made the poll thread, though I'm most interested in my own LS's answers. I'm ready and willing to stop paying SE for their broken yet addictive shit. But if it means leaving the friends people have on here behind, most people won't do it. The fact of the matter is probably half of the people (NA's, anyway) playing this game would not be doing so if all of their friends went on to something else together.

Making you feel good is just an avenue to taking your money, they only do it because it's implied they have to to keep you paying. When they realized they don't, why even bother. "What are you gonna do, quit?"

I agree with that. If they cater to their customers and actually respond to the feedback they're given appropriately, then in my eyes they've earned my monthly fee. But if they're getting the monthly fee without earning it then..well..why try?

I'd also like to note that if I see one person blame what happened in the past few months on the people who got hacked, I'm going to stab Using IE instead of Firefox and using generally regarded to be safe websites does not = got what they had coming to them.

So your acknowledging you cant solve the problem so you want someone to 'solve' (more like feed you) it for you?

    Solution:

SE calls a date unexpectedly and everyone before it November-that day is eligible for a *full* account restoral, plus or minus a few items lost in transit. Provide your information to SE, they look it over and they forward that to the GM team to release your account. Your account then gets all its items in full back - as if the RMT never took your stuff. This would be a one-time gig for everyone affected over the holiday season, after that you go over to the 'new' system.

SE also announces that they are offering new security measures to the public, at your choice - being able to change information concerning billing over the phone only, being able to have an IP 'blacklist' of places/regions not allowed to log your account into POL or FFXI, requiring entering all your previous credit card information to change information, a security question hooked up to an email address in order to change anything, an auto-logout for unfamiliar IP adresses logging into your account (for people with static IPs) and a 'block' on confirmed/suspected malicious proxies, or entering a randomly generated string of characters before going into FFXI. All these are by choice and can be toggled on or off via the PlayOnline Viewer.

SE finally announces people hacked post update sadly are not eligible for complete character restores but are eligible for partial restores of all rare/ex items. They urge to use their new security features coupled with your own, future compromised accounts will be dealt with through the help-center and once your account has been confirmed compromised the account will be given back to you swiftly and the charges for the month will be covered if you did not infact have control of the account for that month, along with reversals of services like World Transfer or deleted mules. Compromised accounts banned by Square-Enix will be returned to their respective 'owners' once investigations pending are completed.

I like your idea Ronin I think its a decent solution, unfortunately I dont think SE give a shit at this moment in time, I have said it before and I will say it again. Those imbeciles at head office deserve to lose their loyal customer base. They're taking the piss out of each and everyone of you. Good luck to you all unfortunately I think you're going to need it
