I... just... said?
Ramor, learn to read. Mioko gave a very clear explanation.
I understand whats being said.. but I dont see how the hell that could cause any sort of brain 'crash'.
The closest dictionary definition to his use of the word "crash" is:
"Slang. to experience unpleasant sensations, as sudden exhaustion or depression, when a drug, esp. an amphetamine, wears off."
'cept that it's a joke thing anyway http://www.wikichan.org/index.php/Creepypasta_cards
Um... you guys do know this is an unproven theorem from a science fiction authors short stories right?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_LangfordBasilisks
A number of Langford's stories are set in a future containing images, colloquially called "basilisks", which crash the human mind by triggering thoughts that the mind is physically or logically incapable of thinking. The first of these stories was "BLIT" (Interzone, 1988); others include "What Happened at Cambridge IV" (Digital Dreams, 1990); "comp.basilisk FAQ" (Nature, 1999), and the Hugo-winning "Different Kinds of Darkness" (F&SF, 2000).

what I gleaned from it was that Mioko was explaining the causes of said crash with a general rendition of what a crash is, I was more interested in what would specifically crash, are we talking like you begin to see weird things, you start seizing, most sensory nervous systems would just fail, or would we just have a very irritated feeling most of the day?Originally Posted by Tonko
I guess it's irrelevant now but I was more curious as to what would really happen, although I guess the remark about comatosing 3 days later was a guess at it
Hint: It's BS.
Worrying that it's going to "crash" your brain is likely to produce more of a result than the image itself. The image and the explanation after it are all psychobabble.
was never worried about that in the first place, but after seeing Cloverfield and having more than one friend be motion-sick just from watching a movie I figure weirder things can happen to some people based simply on images (still or moving), besides it would have been cool to show it to someone and have them have a weird meltdown in about a week.Originally Posted by Alleya

spoiler:it's not blood, failed transmission
It's based in actual concepts, such as the examples I stated, however it's only works in audio... the several day delay is a load in any circumstance.
(Make a long audio clip of a sporadically timed, random repeated noise, make it barely audible, and loop it near someone sleeping for the night, the next day they will feel like they never slept)
Would it serve more to deny someone REM sleep in that case?
If Star Trek: TNG taught me nothing else, it's that you'll go nuts without REM sleep.
Am I missing something? What's high speed in this picture?Originally Posted by Ramor
