Nothing is tying me to play FFXI right now, I barely see my friends online as it is, I do like doing salvage though and gearing up my AU time crew, but I don't have a problem in leaving at this point if something more important to me comes up.

Expansion a.k.a Coaster, was a giant sack of suck, I might change my opinion in the next update, but so long as the only thing in the expansion to do is Dynamis fights but without the AF2, I haven't entered the past in the longest time. Hell I was overly excited for new exp zones and trying to explore/document it, it's so damn useless.

Been playing since beta, and the only break I have had was forced necessity, and not something I wanted to do. It was only about 2 months long at that, and I had cocaine shakes the entire time. I just love this game, I love how stupid hard and tedious it is, and how much you need other people to make anything work.

I love getting gear for people, it doesn't matter that it's dalm or gaiters #who the fuck knows, there is still a vent/lswide FUCKYA when someone deserving gets stuff, and that is just cool to me.

Most of my old-school friends from my first real LS have quit or barely play anymore, however we still keep in contact and we gather every year for Labor Day irl and party down(3 years running). I don't see that stopping anytime soon, it's pretty cool that I've gained several RL friends from a video game from all over the country that will drive/fly several hours just to pound a keg and nerd it up for a few days, even if it is only once a year.

That said, I still have fun in FFXI, I'll be doing it til it gets old regardless of what they're playing.

FFXI gameplay wise isn't holding me down too much. If I was going to leave it would be after WOTG's story is finished, and when all my friends would have left. There's still quite a few people I enjoy playing with, and so far DRG and chocobo racing/raising I love to do.

Most of the people I play with won't or can't think of playing another MMO. FFXI has a lot going for it despite its severe drawbacks, it's got depth that a lot of the MMOs out there just don't have. Personally, I still play EVE and probably will for a long time.
